Hi Doc Lelet. Ano po kaya ang pwedeng gamot para sa baby ko 1year and 15days old na siya ngayon.. Please help naman po taz may fever pa siya.. OK lang po ba ang disudrin at ambroxol para sa ubot sipon? taz paracetamol para sa lagnat?

Pasensya na, but it would be best for you to bring your baby to the pedia for a check up to determine what meds should be given.
Medications should only be given after a complete history and a good physical examination and your pedia is the best person to determine what meds should be given because she is the one who knows your baby's full history.
Please remember that what works for one patient may not work for another. Also, there are many causes of cough and colds so there is no one type of medicine that is good for cough and colds.
Hindi dapat basta basta na lang nagbibigay ng gamot sa bata without a proper check up.

doc, sinabi ni pedia na inumin yung gamot for 5 days... pero may sipon pa din sa ika-6 days.  iinom pa rin ba si baby ng gamot o hindi na?  hindi ko kasi natanong sa pedia niya.  thanks po in advance.

I suggest you bring your baby to the pedia for a follow up so that he or she can be assessed properly. Pasensya na, but your pedia is the best person to answer that question. Depende kasi yan kung anong gamot at ano yung reason/findings that led to giving the medication.

^im no doctor but ventolin is given usually to asthmatic patients. Personally, I experienced having hand tremors from taking ventolin. Do not give without doctor's order. Also, nebulizing is to help loosen up phlegm in the lungs. It is not a cure for coughing. Nebulizing without the need to do so can cause more harm to your kid. Bottom line, bring your kid to the pedia

^^ & ^ sisses my sister in law is a doctor siya po yung nag advise na inebulize. at okay naman ang result. As in kapag napansin namin na may sipon at madalas na paubo ubo (in a day, mapapansin naman yun e db) ninenebulize na namin siya, usually 2 days or 3 days nawawala na sipon at ubo. 2x to 3x nebulize yun in one day.  Never pa ako nagbigay sa baby ko(turning 3 na siya)ng mga gamot sa ubo na pang kids. Binanggit ko naman din sa pedia niya (half sister ni hubby) na pag may ubo at sipon nebulize ginagawa namin, wala naman siya sinabi na wag na ulitin or hindi okay yun.

Note: baka may malito, yung nag advise na mag nebulize ay sister ni hubby at ang pedia ni baby ay half sister ni hubby, pedia as in kapag may vaccines kay half sister in law kami pumupunta. Si sister in law kasi working sa ER, while si half sister in law ay Pedia. Hehe 😊

What works for one patient may not work for another.
Salbutamol is a short acting beta agonist drug. It is primarily an anti-asthma medication. It may be used for bronchitis or bronchiolitis but it cannot be used for all types of cough. Like all types of medications, it has side effects such as palpitations, hand tremors, weakness, diarrhea, headache, etc. Mas common ang side effects kapag salbutamol is taken orally compared to inhalational use or if used via nebulizer.
I agree with hunny_ally. Bottom line is do not give any medication to your baby without the advise of your doctor. Best pa rin to bring your child to the doctor for a complete check up than to self medicate.

^agree ako jan sis doc. Kapag medyo complicated na like 2 days fever dinadala na namin sa pedia niya si baby (half sister ni hubby) kahit na one text away lang naman si sister in law (madalas kasi duty sa ER) pero we live jn the same house so magkikita at magkikita kami, for monotoring and proper approach dinadala namin sa pedia or ER for tests.

He's been on nebulizer for at least a week now.  It's not the normal colds and cough kasi the family of his dad has weak lungs. At first nga ventolin then asmavent at 4 hours interval, at least ngayon ventolin and saline nalang.  After nebuliser, we have to aspirate pa or he would cough waking up.  Hay buhay...

^sis, my 4 month old baby one week na mah sipon at cough, the cough kasi pansin ko kapag inhale sya tapos blocked nose, napapaubo sya. Kaso nga kainis one week na. Last thu lang kami nakapunta pedia. Antibiotic, antihistamine at nebulize ng salbutamol ang reseta sa amin. Balik kami after 5 days eh. Kaso parang walang improvement. Naghahanap na kami pedia pulmo after ng follow up sa pedia nya for 2nd opinion. Pedia pulmo ba kayo nagpapacheck?

The most I gave for my son was 3x nebulize per day. Plus allerkid once a day din pala. Plus monitor din ano itsura ng phlegm ano tunog ng ubo ano interval etc. plus prayers hehe. Ang panahon pa naman pabago bago hay 😩 even adults can't keep up

What are the findings of the pedia? Clear ba daw ang lungs? Is it really cough or just throat clearing due to nasal congestion? What is the diagnosis?
Antibiotic intake in the first year of life increases the risk for development of allergic disorders. Best to ask your pedia as to the reason behind the need for antibiotics. Baka kasi may reason talaga why she thought there was a need to give antibiotics.

I do follow what my pedia is saying.  I'm just getting tired since it has been 2 months and my baby is still sick.  I tried changing the mattress, and more of a clean freak now that I researched his old mattress might be one of the triggers of his allergen attacks.

I'm not sure about her other credentials. You can research about her, Dra. Rosalyn Dychaio.  She is highly recommended.  My baby got better na actually until a few days ago when we went to the cemetery kasi 1 year death anniversary ng lolo niya.  The mausoleo is air-conditioned and enclosed so that might have contributed to the sipon again.  Aspirate nalang ulit, this time with the nose cleaner tube type, I hope this works better than the aspirator.

^another trigger for allergens are stuffed toys. because of my son's condition (he had about 6-7 episodes of pneumonia and he's not even 5yo), no such toys in his room. Rugs, sofas and curtains also can be a breeding ground of allergens. Make sure to regularly vacuum/wash them. Also ask your Pedia about steroidal sprays (given only for 7 days max). My son's Pedia would recommend this if his colds (caused by his allergic rhinitis) is really bad and wouldn't clear up. Sometimes kasi his sipon causes post nasal drip and leads to the infection of his lungs.

I had everything cleaned and vacuumed and bought new mattresses in my baby's room just to make sure there are no more allergens.  The only thing left is the shampoo/vacuum of the sofa.  I hope once it's done this Sunday, that he will improve.  I feel so bad every time we have to aspirate.  Anybody here who have tried Nose Frida with success?  The bulb suction, my baby hates.

^we use the pigeon nose cleaner (not the bulb type). same concept as nose frida. my kids' pedia recommended this over the bulb type.

Thanks, I bought Nose Frida instead. May fake kaya nito? The packaging are different sa sites so I wonder.  I find the Pigeon Nose Cleaner difficult to use.  Si Nose Frida has a filter naman that acts a barrier sa sipon.

Doc lelet, sabi may halak daw. We went back after a 5 days, at buti naman clear na daw. Tinapos lang namin yung antibiotic for 7 days. Nag okay na si baby. Tinanong ko sya para saan antibiotic, para daw hindi lumala. Pero nito lang bumalik ata sipon, nahawa sa daddy nya. Not as bad na like before tsk tsk. Dati kasi tumutulo tulo sipon. Ngayon naman tumulo lang one day hehe Balik kami pedia next week. Thanks po.
