Yes sis breastfeed sya.

^ nung stuffed ang nose ng baby ko, what we do pra di sya masydong mahirapan is let her sleep sa chest namin while medyo naka upo kami. so kung kailangan buong gabi kami nakaganyan para lang dere-derecho at komportable ang bata, we do. also, wag mo muna ilabas. labas as in malling ba? ang baby ko forever lang sa room namin dati. :) lalabas lang pra magpahangin tapos right after pasok na ulit sa room. sleep lang naman kasi lagi so sa bed lang.

ya follow what your heart says. kung ano makakabuti kay baby yun nga lang 'parang' too early pa pra mag meds na. double ingat na lang sa sunod. also get an ionizer/humidifier. hope your baby gets well soon.

Di naman malling pag nagsisimba lang then nung nagpuntang pedia. Sabagay hindi naman i peprescribe ng doctor if hindi advisable.

^ refrain from going out muna sa mga mataong lugar. newborn's immune system is developed when they reach 3 months pa. iwas sa crowded na lugar kasi di naten alam ang katabi naten may sakit would cough or sneeze mahawa si baby.

when we go sa pedia, if there are many waiting on the queue, we stay in the breasfeeding room, kunyari nag be-breastfeed pero talaga nag tatago. :) or stay outside until called kasi nag vivisit sa pedia minsan may sakit din.

i gave birth december, we had christmas party at home, my baby was only 3 weeks old that time, our visitors only saw my daughter in less than 10 minutes. kung hindi pa ako pinilit ng asawa ko na mabilis lang ipakita lang, di ko talaga ilalabas. and no one carried her because sabi ko sleeping i dont want her to wake up.  until now, ayaw na ayaw ko pinagpapasa pasahan si baby kahit na ba nag alcohol sila. malay ko kung nagkasakit pala kung sino man o masama pakiramdam now, lapit nya sa baby ko, imagine ko lang mga saliva pupunta sa face ng baby ko when they talk. :) pasensya na but just want to be on the safe side.  :-X :-X

How the Common Cold is Spread:
You can contract a cold either by touch or air. If you touch someone or something with a cold virus on it and then touch your eyes, mouth, or open wound, you may become infected. You may also inhale the droplets of virus in the air when someone coughs or sneezes.

Mga sis may colds and 2 weeks old baby ko. Dinala ko sya sa pedia nya kahapon then he prescribed solvamin and cefalexin. 3x a day for 1 week.

Was your child exposed to someone in the household with cough and colds?
Neonates or newborn babies till 1 month of age are prone to stuffy nose or nasal congestion because their nasal passages are still developing. Sometimes all they need is a little bit of saline drops with aspiration or clearing of the nose after saline drops to clear their passages.
So if there is no exposure to infection, it could just be because of immature nasal anatomy, but if there was exposure to cough and colds, then it may be the reason why your pedia gave antibiotics. Best person to ask pa rin would be your pedia. What was your pedia's explanation regarding the need for the meds? Were you able to ask the findings?

^mild colds daw po eh nothing to worry daw then he prescribed na yung solvamin and cefalexin.

^ Yung 2 to 3 x a week na bath is not for the Philippines. Dito, dahil sa init and humidity, dapat araw araw pa rin ang bath as long as ok na sya bigyan ng full bath with go signal from your pedia.
Baths do not cause disease or infection. Baths are needed for good hygiene and to prevent infection.
Hindi bawal paliguan ang may sakit kahit pa may fever, cough or colds.
Mas prone lang talaga ang neonates (babies up to 1 month of age) sa sipon and sneezing kasi maliit pa ang butas ng nose nila and hindi pa fully developed ang nasal anatomy nila so prone sila sa bara which is why it is very important to clean their nose regularly.

^2 weeks is a long time for a newborn to have a cold. Did your pedia tell you to stop with the meds? Did you have a followup checkup?

Hi Sisses,

My pediatrician gave Ambroxol drops for my baby for 5 days but until now, my baby's cough and cold are still tight. Thank you!

sis, i think it would be best to bring your child back to pedia. sa kanya mo papalitan yung gamot. iba iba ang types ng cough e.. meaning iba iba rin ang gamot na pwede ibigay.

^ Agree. There is no such thing as the best cough and cold medicine. There are different types/causes of cough and colds so it would be best to bring your baby back to your pedia for a re-assessment. Follow ups are very important for doctors to be able to check response to the measures given.

hi sis, my son was confined before due to pneumonia, according to his pedia the best cure for cough and colds daw is inebulize si baby.  that time hindi nagamot ng antibiotics ang baby ko kaya naconfine parin, that is kahit complete na sya sa pneumococcal vaccines.  kaya ng invest kami ng nebulizer, ngayon pag me sipon or ubo, nebu kami agad mas mabilis gumaling

for my baby, we dont use medicines like salbutamol for nebu right away, most of the time NSS muna, normal saline solution, si pedia ang ngreseta, mas maganda nga siguro sis consult pedia muna, kasi baka iba iba ang reaction sa bata, as for my kid naku kelangan pa kami mghabulan para mapirmi sya at mg nebu

How effective is honey in curing kids cough? My daughter is turning 4 na pero I noticed kase na since she started school in June, naging prone sa cough. This is the 3rd time na nagka ubo sya since June and I feel bad giving her medicines na kaya gusto ko sana try honey.

^for my baby and for me also, honey plus calamansi or lime is very effective.  It's a must that I have a bottle of honey at home.

Hindi addicting ang pag-nebulize, but I suggest you nebulize only when suggested by your pedia because there are several types of meds used for nebulization.

@twelvth_goddess:
When kids start going to school, there is a noted increase in respiratory infections due to exposure to other kids. There are studies which say that giving probiotics help in decreasing the episodes of having respiratory infections like ear infections, pneumonia, etc. Honey may also help as it has anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties. Agree also with kalamansi with honey in helping to relieve cough.
