I've been underweight my whole life but I'm enrolling at Fitbox this Monday. Motivation? Beach body =)) It's actually one of my pet peeves when people say, "Ano pang iggym mo?" when I voice out my thoughts about going to the gym or eating healthier pero kasi thin does not equal fit and healthy and people really need to understand that. Also, I want to actually have tiny bit of strength. Haha lampa kasi ako.

cottondoll,

dont be discouraged with those remarks. remember, yun mga nagsasabi ng yan are those people who havent been in a gym. if they did, they were clueless. sila din yun nagsasabi ng ang muscle magiging taba pag tumagal at ang 10000000 sit ups will give you six pack lolz!

eto lang, if you wanna bulk up. eat right. eat clean. eat high protein food + complex carbs (veggies). start (compound) lifts, dont do cardio its a waste of time - its  a fact. dont do aerobics either, cardio din yan.  pansinin mo na lang mga tao sa weight area vs sa aerobic area.  sino mas toned, sino ang mascular at sino ang flabby.

if it is part of my routine nakakapag exercise ako, kapag nabasag ang routine nakakatamad.

Right now, my failures in the gym motivate me. I stopped working out for two months so humina ako. Medyo hirap ako with some of the weights and movements. Nakakagigil lang.

As of today, shoulders, biceps, and triceps are almost back to normal. Need to keep on working on the legs, back, and chest. So, despite period cramps, go pa rin Clean & Press.

Sexy curves and you can wear different types of clothes depends on the occasion.
Guess what, if you're fit, you can wear EVERYTHING. as in EVERYTHING.

^^^ super agree with telekikay.  my hubby is a bodybuilder and for him not to lose the muscles, he seldom do cardio.

ako, nagpalit din ng routine dahil i have been away from gym for too long.  akala ko non kaya ko na sa bahay lang.  iba pa rin sa gym.  i want to tone up kaya i usually just do light cardio just to raise up my temp (mga 15 mins - 30 mins max light HIIT).  then i do weights.  alternate for upper body and lower body each day.  i started june and ngayon would say changing my routine did shape up my dating pear shape body.  slowly going there, dahil di naman overnight ang mag-trim down and be fit.

agree din with sis frozen toes,  i am now more concerned with the weights i lift than my weight.  i want to be strong and di lampa.  di man bumaba timbang ko, sabi ni hubby, nagkakashape na daw ko 'konti' (dahil pag sinabi daw niya na di konti, baka daw mawala motivation ko).

Frozen Toes,

sounds like you're into compound movement. ayos! my hats of to you. which gym do you got to? i rarely see girls do clean and press. astig!

phurple0515

by the looks of it, the two of you lift serious weights and you know what youre doing.  sana ma guide ninyo yun ibang girls dito sa GT.  madami kasing babae ayaw humawak ng weights dahil 1. magkakakalyo 2. magkakamuscle at lalaki parang lalaki. naiintindihan ko yun 1, pero yun 2? sus san naman nila nakuha yun? kelangan ng testosterone to bulk up, eat right (5-6times a day, cleanly), lift heavy weights...or roids para short cut pero delikado yan.

for now motivation ko is to lessen the risk of developing diabetes and other diseases.  im not sure if im gonna lift heavy pa, baka from time to time na lang i'll do singles for the record or just the heck of it.  pero balak ko high reps na lang and short rest period. mahirap na at nagkakaedad na ako hahaha hopefully makabalik ako by december. sobrang busy lang sa sched at sobrang laki na ngtyan ko hehe

^ regarding kalyo, actually i have  one na maliit pero this is because that time I wasn't wearing any gloves yet.  e nainis na ko dahil nagkakalyo ako (umayaw kasi ako nong sinabihan ako ni hubby na bumili kaya ayan) kaya bumili na rin ako.  pero sa lalake, sabi nga niya, proof yan na nagbubuhat daw siya ng seryoso, hahaha.

nakakatawa din yong ibang magbubuhat ng mabigat (kahit babae) or mag-workout man without any proper plans at all.  buti pang gayahin na lang workout videos at least me plan.  plus, they do say they workout or go to gym, pero naman, kaya walang nangyayari kasi they are not living healthy lifestyles.

agreed on the diet.  been there done that.  i thought also that skipping meals will make me lose weight, di rin.  ang nangyayari kasi, nag-we-weaken ang katawan mo, so your metabolism slows down, so tendency, once kumain ka, as in lamon.  pag nakontrol mo man, maya't maya your stomach will be growling.  plus the fact that you can eventually get stomach ulcer or hyperacidity.

then on the notion of just taking shakes for a meal.  i've done that too.  1st 6 mos was ok.  but i was not that strong.  lampa nga daw. after i stopped, i gained back the total weight i lost.  at sakitin pa ko.  kahit sabihin mo na i was still going to the gym exercising.

ngayon, i've incorporated workouts, proper supplement, diet and living healthy, and i would say that  it made me strong and looked firmer (kahit slow ang weight loss factor) pero very motivational to see na nagkakashape na yong dating katawan ko. and i think hubby is also doing well motivating me (indirectly).

lifting serious weights naman does not mean you have to lift heavy. serious weight lifting for me is lifting weights properly. (sorry, napahaba, heheh)

ika nga eh, everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die hehe

^ like what hubby tells me, di yon sa bigat pero dapat nangangalay ka sa binubuhat mo.  so like for me i do at least 48 times (whether 4 reps at 12 or 3 reps at 16).

basta, motivation ko for now be healthy, strong and fit kaya ako nagwoworkout.  di na ko bata and i want to live longer, hehe

^ah i see. kala ko dito kayo hehe

sandalwood,

its all about what you enjoy doing. weightlifting is not for everyone since it has lesser appeal to women backed up by misleading theories. zum and other aero exercises is well marketed and well funded by fitness companies. i suggest you try both. for better understanding, check this out: aerobic versus anaerobic training.

my chiro actually told me, if you want to lose weight, the best thing is to combine more cardio with doing some weights.  let's say 30-45 mins. cardio with 20-30 mins weights.  minsan kasi sa first few months, don ka gagawa ng experiment kasi don mo malalaman what would work best for you. if you are just starting out, get a workout plan that you think you can do and start with then paglaruan mo na lang combinations as you go along the way.  kasi definitely di mo magagawa 100% non :)

like me, i make it a point to do a 30 min. cardio on weekdays i go to gym.  if kulang sa oras, at least do 15 mins cardio before then another round after pag me enough time pa.  as mentioned, since i am seeing changes on how my legs look like, kahit hate ko pa si bulgarian split squat, i do it once on a weekend, plus do more glutes.

motivation will only come 100% once you see the change in your body, then from there, you would want to workout more.
