Camiguin Island in Northern Mindanao. To go there, you'll have to travel (by plane or boat) to Cagayan de Oro and then cross to Camiguin by barge. This is in Balingoan Port, which is more or less two hours away from the city proper. The barge ride is an experience itself; something unique and fun. If you're lucky (especially for early morning trips), you just might see dolphins swimming.

Anyway, when you get to Camiguin, be sure to check out the following must-go-to places: White Island, Mantigue Island, Ardent Hot Springs, Katibawasan Falls, Sunken Cemetery, Sto. Nino Cold Springs, Soda Water Pool, and the Catarman Old Church Ruins, among others. You should also schedule a trek to Mt. Hibok-Hibok and the Old Vulcan Walkway. The Walkway is the last stop of the annual "Panaad", which happens every Holy Week.

While you're in Cagayan de Oro, try to put on your adventure hat and go whitewater rafting. CDO is known as the country's premier whitewater rafting destination. You'll understand why when you don your rafting gear and brave the rapids of the Cagayan de Oro River.
