How do you take solo pics when traveling ALONE and you happen to be a camwhore?

Are you brave enough to approach and ask favor from strangers / passers-by?

Do you bring a tripod?

Or just stretch your arm to take shots of yourself?

What are your strategies / tips / techniques to take really nice shots of yourself while traveling alone?

Eto kasi yung problem ko, i love traveling alone. And i happen to be a camwhore. And when i travel, it's a MUST for me to take pics of myself together with the nice background.  Nahihiya ako mag-approach ng mga strangers.  (But sometimes, no choice so i approach them minsan).  And wala ako tripod.  Namamahalan ako bumili at saka parang ang bulky to bring one while walking for long hours.

If you really love traveling alone, then a good camera and a tripod are investments. Hassle pa nga yung timer sa camera so buy a remote.

Bulky, yes. Pero for cam whores, you wouldnt mind as long as you can take home some quality shots of yours right?

sis tripod ang sagot dyan, ako kasi evrytime i travel kasama ko palagi tripod ko kahit hindi sya solo kahit pa super dami namin i always bring my tripod kawawa naman kasi yung tigakuha and minsan ayaw din namin magshot kasi wala kmi dun sa pics hehe...

wala ako kahiya hiya to ask people to take my pic. tip lang, mas okay pag you approach ang mga couples na tourist din. kasi you would be returning the favor, syempre gusto din nila magpakuha ng pic na magkasama sila.

what's your camera? before I only have a point and shoot, hassle din ang pagset up then run towards your desired position.

ngayong may dslr nako, i bought a remote for that. no need to run and strike a pose while the timer is beeping. haha

it is perfect for taking photos of yourself but of course you have to use the timer function of your camera. di ko alam saan nakakabili kasi kasama sa package ng nikon point and shoot namin pero hindi siya nikon na brand. it's an after-market accessory. it's retractable, only less than a foot long when not extended.

@clueless: If I'm not mistaken, I think it's called a 'monopod'. I'm not really sure but I have seen that and if you don't like carrying a bulky tripod with you, this would be a great substitute.

I bought my tripod sa cd-r king. Yung tripod na P600 yung binili ko. Okay naman siya. Hindi naman madaling masira and nakakaya naman niya yung bigat ng camera ko. Medyo magaan lang siya kaya di masyadong hassle dalhin.

baka naman may specific tripod for a small-sized digicam?? may nakita kasi akong mga tripod sa mall, pero parang masyadong malaki for my camera e.

point and shoot lang din ang camera namin. tapos meron kami Gorilla Pod. Parang tripod din sya pero di kasing laki ng tripod. Pwede mo sya isabit sa pole.  Bale pang SLR or point and shoot sya

Yung Orig nito mga P1000++ ang price. Pero yun nabili namin, sa CDR-King lang. Nasa hundreds lang ang price nito.

i used a thin and light weight tripod for my Ixus too! isang dangkal lang pag nakafold tapos ang maximum height ay 4.5feet. kaso US yun nabili. pero baka meorn din dito. hanap hanap ka nalang din.

sis ok po sa cdr king i bought my tripod for 350 mga dalawang dangkal naman sya pero 4.5ft sya last yr pa yun pero super ok pa rin until now ginawa ko pa ngang tungkod sa sagada yun eh, lagi ko rin sya ginagamit sa beach since waterproof cam may tripod pa rin kahit sa ilalim na ng dagat hehe...

yes it's true po kami ni bf minsan inaaproach din ng ibang couple na kami ang kuhanan siguro nakikita nila na nahihirapan kami kumuha na magkasama kami, in favor ganun din ginagawa namin.
