Hi,

I just thought of starting a thread for Women Volunteers.

Maybe thru this, we can share our experiences as volunteers, how it feels to be able to do good for others, and if we have upcoming volunteer works, we can let other Gt's know about it, just to spread the love.

I'm one of the founders of an NGO, we focus on children's welfare. We started after Ondoy and so far nakaka 15 projects na kami. We're currently doing a book drive for far-flung areas of Rizal.

Being a volunteer is fun, being able to help out in little ways gives you a sense of accomplishment.

There is nothing like putting strangers' concerns on your plate to appreciate more your blessings.  It does one's soul good to be able to provide the solution to someone's seemingly insurmountable (to the person concerned) problem.

Hello mga sis,

This coming Feb 21, CDRC will be implementing a rehabilitation project and will conduct a relief delivery operation in Sta. Inez, Tanay Rizal for the DUMAGATS affected by the typhoon Ondoy. The community has not recovered from the devastation until now.

I will be going there to help with the psychosocial support for the kids. If you can't come, there are other ways to help, such as:

Donations:

The community needs the following:

• School supplies for 50 school children and 20 adult learners
• Construction materials for the reconstruction of the school
• Seedlings and farm tools for the farmers
  

Dining plates for the households
Clothes for children and adults

We also need volunteers for the following activities:
Feb 11-13 and Feb 15-20 - Sorting of clothes and repacking of goods (9am-6pm CDRC office)
Feb 21 - Relief delivery operation and psychosocial activity for kids (6am departure frm CDRC office)

hay talaga naman.. there is nothing more rewarding than helping others... yung alam mo na kahit wala kang maibibigay, still nagbibigay ka pa rin kahit na presence lang o konting tulong.. i was part of the GTs for charity in 2008, sa CRIBS. it was really fun... sis quenna sana meron ulit tayong ganon... matagal na rin akong hindi active eh.. pero nung binaha kami nung ondoy, nakakataba ng puso na malaman na maraming nagmamalasakit sa kapwa nila... nagtulong-tulong talaga ang mga tao... kaming magkakapatid tumulong din kahit na yung sarili naming bahay 1 linggo nakalubog sa tubig dito sa cainta...

for those who want to volunteer sa iba't ibang activities na type nyo, u can check hands-on manila, they have diff volunteer activities. for example, u'r good at arts, u can voluntarily teach arts to street kids or if next week, gusto nyo naman paki-mingle sa mga oldies, u can go to a home for the aged.
