^ sad thing, marami ang hindi nakaka-alam sa batas.  :)

kasi ang alam ng iba, once you are married, automatic na surname na ng husband ang gagamitin, hindi nila alam na may option ang babae whether to use the surname of the husband.

^and I am one of those na hindi nakakaalam.
Pero di ba parang insult naman ito sa hubby mo if you will not use his surname? Siguro gagawin ko lang to kung mabantot pakinggan yung last name ng magiging hubby ko. LOLs

Hindi naman siguro, especially if kilala ka na sa profession mo with your maiden surname.  At this day and age, men are relatively more open-minded (though I still know of some who do mind kapag gamit parin ng wifey nila 'yung maiden surname nila  ??? )

thanks for this post. at least i know i can still use my maiden name after marriage. one of my dad's "pakiusap" was for his daughters (my ate and i) to retain his surname. it's a legacy, and it's a gem, according to him.

hindi naman siguro, if medyo sensitive si hubby, then hyphenated na lang, besides may "Mrs." naman before your name.

with hubby, so far, wala naman kami issues when it comes sa surname ko. pati sa mga social sites, yahoo, fs, gmail, fb, etc., surname ko pa rin ang gamit ko.

my hubby really wants me to use his last name. I am using his last name but I am not dropping my maiden surname.

Medyo kailangan lang lagi meron IDs with both names.

for me, better to file for annulment since 7 years na naman kayo seperated and i guess you have enough money para gawin ito. at least tahimik na kayo at hinde naman unfair sa future baby ninyo. mahirap kasi yan pag hinde pa tapos yung unang problema.

^hindi po. since you already used his surname, kelangan muna ma-annul yung marriage.

edit: hindi rin pwede kahit maglegal separation coz the marriage will still remain :)

no. unless annulled yung marriage.

since HINDI naman kayo legally separated -- by law, married pa rin kayo.

to m@m@, i don't think the DFA will allow the change in your passport, from using your hubby's surname to your maiden name.

sa tingin ko, kahit ano gamitin ng married women pwede basta consistent ang pag-use nito.

^you can still use your maiden name. a married woman is allowed legally to retain her maiden name or change her surname to her husband's surname or you can use dash (-) para you can use both, like legarda-leviste :)

it's not a biggie that you're married yet you still use your maiden surname, unless ayaw ni hubby na i-retain mo yung maiden surname mo :)

pwedeng gamitin ang maiden name.. but if you already changed to your hubby's name, hindi na pwede na papalitan ulit unless you are annulled or your marriage is not anymore existing

for those who want to use their maiden name ulit sa passport:

Please prepare the following as well:

Death Certificate of the deceased husband and Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
If marriage is annulled: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on annulment and NSO-issued Marriage Certificate with the annotation on the annulment decree.
If divorced: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on divorce authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the divorce is obtained and NSO-issued Marriage Certificate with the annotation on the divorced decree.

may legalities din ba in using hyphenated surnames? halimbawa sa passport, ganito ba yun:  first name, Middle initial, Maiden Name-Hubbys Surname? TIA

ipagpalagay nating hindi obligatory ang paggamit ng surname ng hubby, pero ano bang usual na dahilan bakit ayaw gamitin ito? gusto ko sana ganun din kaso magagalit ang hubby ko of course.
