GT na Engineers/Eng'g students

So inspiring naman sis.  If I may I ask, how did you apply for work abroad?  I am also a licensed ECE who previously worked in the semiconductor industry and now working in IT here in Makati. 

It was my friend who forwarded my resume to the IT Manager of one of the companies here in Doha. That manager contacted me and interviewed me subsequently. To be able to come to Qatar on the least amount of time, my friend applied a tourist visa for me. With strong determination & courage, I was able to succeed/pass to the interrogating questions thrown by the NAIA Immigration Officers.

After a month, my tourist visa was converted into a working visa…and the rest is history…

Idol. Hehe. ECE din kasi. Student palang. 4th year na. Wala pa naman binabagsak. Hehe. Any tips sis pag dating sa board? :p

Pagka-grad ko, sa AT&T ako mag-work. Ipapasok ako ng relative ko dun. May connection, kaya madali lang.

Proud to say na wala rin akong bagsak kasi may maintaining grade kapag scholar…

You will be surprised kapag nag attend ka na ng review classes for your board exam. Ang pinag aralan mo sa isang sem, a week or two lang ita tackle sa mga review center.  I was working Mon to Fri sa Fujitsu and then nag rereview naman ako during Sat & Sun. When I intend to resign, ayaw naman pumayag ng Supervisor ko + the among Japanese. Instead, they became lenient on my case and allowed me to take a month leave para makapag concentrate sa board exam. Worth it ang sacrifice ko kasi I was still under “probationary period” noong nag leave ako so considered unpaid for one month. Basta mag aral lang mabuti , samahan ng dasal at swerte…

Sis I'm in telecoms! Dati din ako nag-work jan sa Doha, project ng Qtel. Pero ngayon nasa ibang lupalop ng mundo na naman ako.

Yup, nag-post nga ata ako sa Qatar thread noon. Hindi naman ako permanent sa Qtel nung anjan ako, bale contractor ako ng nokia-siemens na may project sa Qtel. At korek ka jan, daming pana hehe

I'm a licensed CE, now in Qatar. wala pa ring work kasi fresh grad, walang experience. ask ko lang, di ba talaga kumukuha yung companies dito ng walang exp? wala pa din kasing tumatawag sakin, filipino siya tas pinapalagyan ako ng experience sa phils para daw ma-qualify yung cv ko for contracts engineer.

maganda sana sis kung nagka-work experience ka muna kahit papano before ka nag-abroad. Not to discourage you or anything, kasi yung mga companies abroad hanap nila may experience na kasi nga naman mamumuhunan sila sa yo eh. Pero apply ka lang din ng apply, malay mo naman merong company na bigyan ka ng chance db?

^ yes sis. di ko naman plano talaga to work here. i was just supposed to visit my family here, pero dito talaga gusto nila eh. we're now applying for a family visa under my dad. sobrang dalang ko nga makakita ng ads na no exp required. i'm just sending e-mails to companies, then wait for calls. kaso wala pa eh.

wow!may thread pala for engrs.. ECE here. working at semicon industry. manila girl, but working in Laguna. nag-apply ng work sa manila para mapalapit, but no luck. kaya stick muna sa current job.

@ My Sweet November and mga sis working in Middle East as IT/Engineer: How's the work environment there?

I noticed most opportunities in the IT/Engineering field  today is in the Middle East but I have been somewhat scared of working there because of the current situation /political climate going on there. Also, I'm worried about women discrimination? Is this baseless, is there any truth to this?

Btw, I'm a Comp. eng'g grad working as IT analyst here in Makati.
