this is a long post but i hope you guys could read it.

share ko lang sis ginawa ko para mawala yung acid reflux ko mga sis. i know and i hope na makatulong ito sa inyo kahit konti lang.

parang one month nagtagal yung reflux ko and because i didn't want to resort to drugs which in the long run have major side effects and may even cause the reflux to get worse, i tried going the natural way. especially nung nalaman ko na ang gerd eh nagagamot just by lifestyle change.

first thing i did was i did an overhaul with the things i eat. less junkfood, more fruits and MORE YOGURT. why? because i learned that unlike what people believe, gerd isn't caused by too much acid. it's caused by acid imbalance in the stomach which will cause food digestion to be abnormal.

and what happens if food digestion is not as good as before? the food we eat gets fermented. and that's how you get the acid reflux, not only that, you get bad bacteria in the stomach too. so i learned that the best way to cure gerd is to normalize my digestion.

i eat yogurt, the unflavored one. i don't eat nestle's fruity ones because they are filled with sugar. i don't drink yakult because it's also filled with sugar. unflavored yogurt is the best.

and then i also drink ACV+baking powder+pure honey mixed in a glass two times a day. ACV because acetic acid is milder compared to the stomach acids. it won't make the problem worse. and... baking powder acts  as a PH balancer. its purpose is the same as those antacids in the market. pure honey is for the taste... and it also coats your throat, relieving that "lump in the throat" sensation.

after drinking that, you wait for that one big burp you're going to have and it will relieve the pain.

my condition got better after a week of drinking this and eating yogurt. i think after a month ok na ko. and now, di ko na siya naeexperience. if ever, i just do the same remedy and after few days ok na ulit ako. ;D

^ thats because gerd is not a "sickness", it's a "condition". hindi siya nagagamot... once you have it, you have it forever. kaya nga hindi talaga advisable ang magmeds ng magmeds. dapat sa mga unang symptoms pa lang, agapan mo na.

change of lifestyle is the number one maintenance of gerd. dapat talaga cautious ka sa pagkain. healthy living is the key. kahit walang meds, aayos pakiramdam mo. at wala pa yung side effects. ;)

if you notice pag nagmimeds ka, kapag di na nagwork yung usual mong iniinom na gamot, magpeprescribe ang doctor ng mas mataas na dosage etc. remember mga sis, our stomachs are made to withstand acid. kung iinom ka ng iinom ng mga acid blockers, how will you digest your food?

anyway, one good thing din to do is to drink carrot juice... pero hinay hinay lang dito kasi baka maging orange ka. hehe

invest on a good juicer and try a juice diet. good for digestion din siya and hindi gaanong mapipressure yung tiyan mo na magdigest since juice form na yung ini-intake mo.

My digestion is not good for so long. Before I use to consult doctor but I had enough. I have tried everything I think. Whats worse about my condition is when I eat food / if I got starved for long, I tend to produce gas so much (flatulence / fart a lot) i really dont know whats happening to my tummy but kahit [textspeak!] gawin ko still ganun ako. Anyone here have the same experience with me?

^ sis try to make your digestion normal. avoid eating food na mahirap tunawin. baby steps lang yan.

and eat lots of yogurt. good for digestion yun. and as much as possible, wag ka papagutom. eat small meals frequently. mas okay yun kesa sa isang biglaang kain.

^^^I know all of that, I was just sharing my experience :) matagal na rin kasi akong may gerd i think 2009 pa kaya umiiwas na talaga ako sa mga pagkain na nagcaucause ng acid reflux.

pero right now im happy cuz i can eat anything na. :P

I've been suffering from GERD since November last year.  I felt like I had a lump in my throat, I would have heartburn everyday, I'm always burping and I could taste acid regurgitating from my stomach.  My gastroenterologist prescribed Zantac 150mg 2x/day but it wasn't working.  She then gave me Prevacid FTD 30mg.  It worked great  -- UNTIL I had to stop it.  The acid rebound was WORSE than the regular heartburn I had before the Prevacid.  So I had to retake the Prevacid again and I was so scared to stop taking it.  The problem with PPIs is that you can't really take it for a long time because our body will stop absorbing nutrients -- especially calcium.  It's also like a water dam that stops our body from producing acid so when we stop taking it, the acid will also gush like an overflowing water dam.

So I then went to my Homeopathic doctor and she gave me this plan to wean me off Prevacid.  She also gave me homeopathic medicine.  Unfortunately, it's really hard to wean yourself from PPIs and the homeopathic medicine still was not enough.  I then researched on the internet on ways to relieve my GERD.  So here are the things I take and the lifestyle changes I've made to deal with GERD.  I have stopped taking Prevacid.  I still get heartburn, though, especially when I eat chocolates and cakes.  But not as bad as before.

1.  I have stopped drinking and eating these because they aggravate acid reflux for me:  coffee, tea, juice (except aloe vera juice, apple juice and carrot juice), tomato sauce, anything spicy.  (Chocolates are not allowed either but I still eat chocolates, though -- my bad.)

2.  I have also avoided these (avoid lang, but not stop because I sometimes eat a little):  rice, bread, pasta, beef.  I don't know about you guys but I feel that my stomach works harder when I eat heavy carbs and beef.  When your stomach works harder to digest the food, it produces more stomach acid.

3.  If I feel just a bit hungry, I eat.

4.  I eat often but smaller meals.  Don't stuff yourself.  It's stressful for the stomach.

5.  I take apple cider vinegar (available at Healthy Options and imported section of grocery stores).  Just mix 1-2 Tbsp with warm water and drink it 15-30 minutes before each meal.  You can also add honey if you like.

6.  I take 2 tsps of blackstrap molasses everyday (available at Healthy Options).  It's supposed to be soothing to the throat, esophagus and stomach.  There are claims on the internet that blackstrap molasses have cured their GERD.  There's no explanation on how it cures and I don't know if the claims are true but for me, it's enough that it soothes.  It's very thick so you can add it to water and drink it.  I just like to take it straight, to coat my throat.  I take this in the morning, about an hour after eating breakfast.

7.  Almonds -- this is like my "natural antacid".  I eat this all the time.  It's very alkaline so it neutralizes stomach acid.

8.  Bananas  --  I eat this all the time as well.  It's also a natural antacid and soothing to the stomach.

9.  Aloe Vera juice  --  I take this to neutralize stomach acid, too.  But I don't take it often because the brand I buy has sugar.  I try to avoid sugar.

10.  Yogurt and Probiotics  --  these are important for a healthy gastrointestinal tract.

11.  I take homeopathic medicine.  You'll have to see a homeopathic doctor for this, if you believe in homeopathy.  I just have to warn you that the medicine and the doctor's fee are very expensive.  AND, for me, the apple cider vinegar worked best for my GERD.  It's just that I got used to my homeopathic medicine so I'm also scared to stop them.

**Aside from these, I'm also planning to try Calcium Citrate.  I read it should be in powder form, though, and I'm still looking for the powder form.  It's supposed to help strengthen the LES valve (the valve that prevents the acid from going up our esophagus).  They say DGL Licorice antacids are also good for neutralizing stomach acid but I can't find any here in Manila.

I hope these help.  I will update everyone when I try a new remedy.  :)

Dapat healthy life.  :) . Depress and stress free dapat.

since I've started eating healthy, hindi ko na na-e-experience si gerd. what i  normally do is a little of pork  & beef lang. no softdrinks, coffee. bawal magpakagutom.
pero other than any viand, i go for fish and veggies. fruits also sinasama ko sa diet ko. i gained weight na din like mga 4lbs. so major lifestyle change talaga..

I don't know if this is GERD. :( Then after kumain nagb-burp. Sorry.
