i was just diagnosed with pharyngo-larnyx  acid reflux, more or less it's the same thing with GERD, nexium din ang meds na binigay and they are giving 50%off for the price of nexium, ipapakita lang yung card sa mercury or southstar drugstore. ,malaking tulong yung 50% off na promo nila.

Ito ba yung sinasabi nilang silent reflux?  Paano ka na-diagnose sis?  Last November, nagpa-check kasi ako sa ENT regarding sore throat pero nung tiningnan nya likod ng tongue ko, wala daw reflux?  Wala kasi ako heartburn or chest pains ever since....saan ka nagpatingin sis?

i had nasal endoscopy at my doctor's clinic at asian hospital, tru d computer monitor, she said she could see acid ang then she gave me that diagnosis.

i still feel a lump in my throat up to now kahit 3 weeks na ako under medication, there are time na nawawala but most of the time the feeling is still there. i have to go back after a month for follow up check up. she said it could last anywhere from 1 month - 6months.

How much was the endoscopy?  I was diagnosed as having rhinitis before, the dr. at Makati Med. also inserted something at my nose to check but not the endoscopy you were referring to.  It's hard for me to tell If I am suffering from reflux because of my rhinitis plus I am also asthmatic ever since I was a kid.  I will go back to my ENT dr. so that he can check my symptoms and hope he will help me.  Lately kasi I have difficulty in breathing although the new meds. prescribed by my Pulmo. slightly helped, I feel that It's not asthma related.  I also had symptoms of post-nasal drip, itchy eyes and sore throat although when he prescribed Montelukast, the itchy eyes and drip stopped...Haay hirap.  When you have heartburn kasi or chest pain kahit masakit at least you know you're having a reflux whereas If you're having other symptoms especially If you have asthma and nose issues, It's hard to tell what's causing the problems..

she charged me 2,000. you know what, nakita din nya dat i have allregic rhinitis tru the endoscopy coz maputla daw ang nasal q. she gave me nasal spray avamyst. shock nga [textspeak!] eh coz i dont feel any symptoms at ol, no sneezing in the a.m., no running nose, no itchy eys, so i was really surprised to be diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, but i guess the screen monitor would not lie hehe

i know montelukast is good for allergies and asthma as well.why not opt for a 2nd opinion?

Thanks for answering my inquiries sis..I live in Makati that's why Makati Medical is the nearest hospital in our place.  I have a new dr. at Makati Med. now, he's the one who found out I have rhinitis.  The one who did indirect laryngoscopy before or placing a dental mirror to check the back of your tongue was a different doctor at Makati Med.  He said I don't have reflux then but I guess I do now given the new symptoms I am experiencing.  I wish I can be given a thorough exam this time because those appointments are really expensive.

i've had mild symptoms of silent reflux. but i felt better after i switched to organic diet. if any of you is interested, i'll share what i did. it's really very simple and more of lifestyle change which makes it pretty challenging, but hey... all for the better right? :)

my hubby used to suffer from gerd and heartburn...as in he's usually tolerable sa pain but this one really hit him bad.  :(  even wheat bread upsets his stomach (we were experimenting at that time what food would make him recover more) .... stress at work was his biggest factor.

Nexium gave him bad allergies...gave him cough (his allergy symptom) and worse, his stomach acidity goes up whenever he coughs!  We found Maalox too expensive.  :(

Then we've read about manuka honey and how it naturally neutralizes gerd and ulcer....what we do is stick a teaspoon with a small bread and take it in 15 mins before breakfast/lunch/dinner, and it has been better.  lesser bloating and acidity.  even his breath has improved...and he is back to his normal eating diet na in just a few weeks' time.

Pag under budget, we alternate this with 100% pure honey and it still work as promised.  I've already recommended this to some of my friends and heard good results as well.........baka makatulong din po. :)

I was diagnosed with GERD only last month, ayun 3days sa hospi then 2weeks na Omeprazole and  1 week na Ganaton. So far pag narararamdaman ko na tumataas acid ko, I just take 1 teaspoon of honey saka bago matulog. Ganun ginagawa ko. Nakakatulong nga ang honey sis.

What were your symptoms sis when you were diagnosed?  Before I had mild stomach pains, I was prescribed Omeprazole  then It comes and goes for several months.  This July, I had a new symptom which was difficulty in breathing.  I am on my 2nd week of Nexium pero there are still episodes of difficulty breathing and madalas din ako burp ng burp.

mga sis, ganito lang ginawa ko.

i drank apple cider vinegar. ganito yung recipe na ginawa ko:

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp baking soda
1 glass of water

it tastes like juice naman. ok lang yung taste dahil sa honey. i drink that twice a day. before i eat breakfast and before i eat dinner.

at first, mejo scared ako kasi di ba acid reflux meant maraming acid sa stomach? pero acetic acid is milder than hydrochloric acid. and then i learned na kaya nagkakaron ng food e dahil sa indigestion. so nafiferment yung food. so the problem is not too much acid but too less of important acids. kumbaga hindi balance yung acid sa stomach.

i just drank this for a week and i felt better. yung lump feeling sa throat ko is eventually nawala. BTW, yung baking soda i removed it after a week.

Symptoms was difficulty in breathing, burp ng burp, tapos parang asthma attack na heart attack nangyari sa akin. a week prior to that kasi I drank alcohol tapos nagyosi din.Tapos, coffee addict pa ako.  Kaya nag-alleviate iyung acid ng tiyan ko. Factors din kasi ang smoking and alcohol kaya ayun. Nagka-gerd ako. Since then, I've began to eat healthy, live healthy.

I was diagnosed with GERD too by my aunt who is a gastroenterologist. I kept on having sore throat kasi (but the itch wasn't really sa throat more sa loob na) and I took antibiotics already but it always came back after a while. At the same time, my tummy kept on rumbling and I keep on burping especially when I eat/drink dairy products. Apparently, all of these things are because of GERD.

My aunt said that it is a recurring thing and it will always come back daw :( I had several rounds of meds na before. first round was 2 weeks of PPIs before breakfast.. a few months after that, I had symptoms again so I did a 30days of meds naman. Such a hassle to have this because I really need to watch what I eat/drink.

So far I'm ok after my last round of meds last May/June. I find that drinking Apple juice helps a lot in settling my stomach when I don't feel so good.

Also, has anyone tried Pantoloc before? I had some dizzy spells and nausea when I took this so my aunt changed it to another brand.
