share ko lang, i met someone who's trying to be a vegan.  ngek ang diet nya--rice with toyo, bread with butter, some steamed veggies, and boiled tofu.

ano yun?! naloka ako.  i also met someone na vegan, (ot na: he's a dentist and he conducts seminar sa pinas once in awhile. and says love nya mga pinay)  potatoes, sausage(made from veggies and protein ek ek,)  veggies.  yung pagkain nya it looks meat pero hinde meat.  ehhe ignorante ako.  hinde gaya nung isa na ewan ko kung may tamang sustansya kinakain nya.  carbo loading [textspeak!] weheh

I have a lot of friends and a sister who are vegetarians and vegans. Notice ko one thing they had in common aside from being trim is they have all good skin. I guess nawala na kasi sa system nila yung mga animal fats.

 :)

Been a pescetarian for a month, I accidentally ate chicken meat sa isang emapanada and my throat hurt and I felt a bit sick. I guess, you have to give yourself a few weeks to transition then it'll be easy. I'd slowly transition to lacto-ovo pero I'm not pressuring myself muna.

hay. i also wanted to be a vegetarian (or vegan). but i like eating meats kasi. dairy - not so much.

my hubby also wanted us to be vegetarians; mas maging healthy ang lifestyle.  siguro we could start by being pescetarian muna para di mabigla. convince ko siya para we could support each other :D

i will try to be a vegan during the day, hahaha, kasi sa gabi naman, ang hubby ko, ang hirap pakainin ng veggies.  or better, the whole day na lang tapos magluluto ako ng meat and veggies, veggies akin, meat ke hubby...i miss eating all veggies talaga.  sa Pinas, siyempre, Ilokana ako, laging me veggies sa menu.

^^ sis emgee, you can try to eliminate red meat muna siguro to start :) ganon muna ako ngayon eh hehe. trying to eat healthier but i'm a huge meat eater (and I hate veggies!) so one step at a time muna. Na notice ko lang since I started even sa restaurants I order veggies na instead of meat so nasasanay na din pala ako hehe. good luck :)

yeah. marami pa nga stock ng meat sa fridge so uubusin muna namin then we'll shift to chicken + fish/seafood as meat. gradually lang talaga kasi di rin ako sanay kumain ng gulay na walang sahog na karne :P

good luck sa atin :)

Hi guys! I am a pesco-lacto-ovo vegetarian for more than a year now.

yes i think  should know your reasons why you want to adapt this lifestyle. For me when I embraced core teachings of Jesus & Buddha (who are also vegetarians) un ang reason why I decided to nourish my body with life giving stuff rather that violence laden food. My journey of course was taking step by step din.

Sobrang thankful din ako coz easy access tayo lahat sa knowledge n guidance thru internet especially youtube. Inspiring din to know si Einstein is a Vegetarian plus a lot more people, sa Pinas I believe Ms Gina Lopez & Mr Gaby Lopez are vegetarians too (pls correct me if I am wrong). I believe talaga that in the long run it will give one mental clarity kasi nga di na clouded ang system.

Sana talaga eh magkaroon ng groups for vegetarian community sa Pinas, then have pot luck parties and bazaars like sa states...

Sa mga super interested here are the guru's when it comes to vegan/vegetarian lifestyle David "Avocado" Wolfe (Best known for promoting "Superfoods", Gabriel Cousens, Brian Clement. They share their knowledge sa youtube. I really thank them for making this journey fun.

Have the best day ever!

hi! I've heard this from charlene gonzales.  Try being a semi-vegetarian first before being a total vegan.  semi-vegetarian is eating veggies and fish.  it's a nice diet actually! try it!  =)

I have not been eating all sorts of meat (including fish, egg, etc) for the past few days and I would like to believe that I'm starting to go vegan. Nice thing is I'm not even trying to force/restrict myself -- I just don't want to eat meat. However, I srsly can't think how I'd be able to give up dairy.

Anyway, I hope the vegan/vegetarian community in this forum goes alive again. Let's get to know, encourage, and help out one another. For all the harassed, helpless animals.

Agree sis.  Let's revive this thread especially with the growing awareness for a healthy  lifestyle and animal advocacy  :)

I've been a vegetarian for 11 years already.  I started eliminating red meat because of a documentary i saw about slaughterhouses. After that,  I swore never to eat beef and pork again. Kawawa talaga  :( It was followed after by saying no to chicken din. It was just a challenge I gave myself kasi super favorite ko talaga kfc haha! But i did it! I tried being a vegan but it only lasted for 6months. Walang makain. Ang hirap lol! So i opted to stick to fish.  Good source din naman kasi of omega3.  But my diet is mostly fruits, veggies and protein and iron alternatives like tofu, soy milk, beans.  I also don't eat white rice and bread.  Wheat bread and brown rice lang.

I love being a vegetarian. I was able to maintain my weight for the past 11 years and it feels good to be healthy.  I do yoga also and I take nutritional supplements regularly.  Yun lang downside ng vegetarianism. You may be missing out on some important nutrients from meat and even seafood.  That's where supplements come in.  Important talaga.

For the newbie vegetarians, just keep on going. In time, you'll get used to the lifestyle that you will never feel like you're missing out on life because you can no longer eat burger and lechon hehe! At least you say goodbye to cholesterol and fatty foods.  Believe me, nothing beats feeling good and light.  Being healthy is doing our bodies a huge favor.  We only have one, so we must take care of it  :)
