Vegetarians/Vegans?

Nadaanan ko na din ang pagiging vegetarian. In fact, more than a decade akong nag-vegetarian. I've tried everything from the predominantly vegetable diet, to the 85% raw 15% slightly cooked vegan diet (yes, its like eating grass. you'd initially feel like a kambing. but once sanay ka na, sarap ng buhay. though kailangan mo ng cook.)

It's hard to be vegetarian sa pinas because limited lahat. parang luxury ang dating. another reason is, not all protein can be provided by tofu/soymilk. to get that complete protein that you need, you will have to eat from a variety of sources. Nuts pa lang eh limitado na.

Here's the challenge. Do natural bodybuilding or be a serious athlete while being vegetarian. if you're body grows, heals quickly etc. then you're getting complete protein. pero kung nahihirapan kayo. there's something wrong with the diet.

throughout the years, marami akong nakita na matagal nang nagvegetarian, pero maagang nagkakasakit. a lot of them daig pa ng mga taong inaabuso ang sarili nilang katawan. bottom line is, being a vegetarian wiill not ensure that you will be uber healthy. siguro, sa madaling salita, it will ensure that you'll reach 50 with minimal complications. LOL

too late to respond, but i happy that there is a discussion regarding being vegan/vegetarian.

i have tried several times to be a vegetarian pero totoo nga, struggle yun. lalo na sa pinas, pag sinabi mong vegetarian ka, its like something is wrong with you, its like you are an alien. Also, you have to explain bakit vegetarian ka.

andito ako ngayon sa Malaysia, and i could say its better to be a vegetarian here, marami food choices (because of religion thingy) and people respect you pag sinabi mo you dont eat meat.

^ talaga? Grabe hindi ko matake ang lasa ng Bodhi.  That's why I resorted to just cooking my own food and taking trips to that little, obscure Vegan shop in Malate for frozen vegan food.  In CubaoX, meron naman dun cafe, Green Halo.  They're vegan/vegetarian.

Where in Malate do you get those frozen vegan food? TIA

As I remember, it was along Quirino Ave, right beside the Petron station. Be careful when looking for it because it's really easy to miss despite the fact that it's a corner lot.

guys, maybe you can check out MAMC. I remember that they had a vegetarian cooking demo before. Sa caf din vegetarian food. Meron silang mga canned gluten etc. Meron pa nga silang mushroom tapa na fave ko before

Last 2009- I started to not eat rice and drink softdrinks
This year 2010 - I have started not drinking coffee and junkfoods.
Next year 2011- I am thinking to be a vegetarian naman, sana magawa ko.

I'm lucky to reside in Bacolod and we have BAMC here. I really love the healthy foods in the cafeteria/canteen. Their spaghetti is a favorite. I must agree that the soya milk is really good. I don't like those that are sold in groceries. That's why since I was a kid I tend to look forward check-ups with the doc cause yummy food is in store. Haha D pa uso ang Wheat bread 20+ years ago they have it available na.
