How much does a trip to Paris cost?

Our apartment was the "cozy Paris studio" and the landlord is Cara Courtiades. She's half French and half Indonesian. So medyo may affinity sya with Asians. The apartment's location is along Rue St. Denis (sorry forgot na rin the apartment number).

Mama Squeak, is it true that french waiters are one of the rudest?  I have a relative who went to Paris and she told me that french waiters wouldn't wait on non french customers.  Rude!

^my husband and I experienced none of that. They were so respectful! We stayed in Paris for 3 days and we ate out breakfast, lunch, merienda and dinner. Wala naman kami naexperience na rudeness whatsoever. Very friendly pa nga sila!

Basta try to speak a bit of french first. Then ask mo na sila if they know english.

@melodymedley, for the big cities like Paris, Munich, Frankfurt and tourist towns expect more or less the same prices. You can get cheaper if you observe where the locals go to eat. Our apartment was located at a pedestrian/tourist area so there were lots of food stalls/cafes/brasseries in the area. If you're not too particular with your food the cheapest we saw were the sandwiches/rotis.

If you want to experience a bit of Parisian ambiance, go sit in a cafe (better outside). You can stay all day and people watch if you want as long as you order their food or even just coffee and a pastry. Average breakfast cost is EUR14 for a coffee, juice and a croissant with jam. Well, with that price I'll definitely own the table for a day!

@xtine, in all my travels I have yet to encounter a rude wait staff. Me kasi before I travel I make sure I read up a lot on the place I will be visiting. I don't just go there to see the place but to experience the culture and people.

For a fact I know Parisians are standoffish. Not really rude. Even people from the south of France find their northern counterparts a bit cold and aloof. Knowing that trait of theirs then prepares me on how I will interact with them. I don't take it personally against them. Eh ganyan talaga sila eh and bisita lang ako, so ako yung mag-aadjust di ba? It helps a lot that I smile easily and speak their language.

So, when you travel try to read up on the people and try to learn some basics of the language of the country you are visiting. It never fails to warm them up to you.

Our first time in Paris we didn't have time to really appreciate their cuisine. We were in such a hurry to see all the famous must-sees na fastfood lang naging katapat namin. On our suceeding trips we took it slow and tried their culinary offerings. We would just sit at their cafes and people watch. Go to their open air markets and try the local wines, meats, cheeses and fruits. Buy fresh baguette (mainit-init pa!) from the neighborhood boulangerie. It was fun!   

Ayun, may ukay ba malapit kina Cara na apartment?

yes. you pay for a pillow and blanket. they call it the comfort kit. tapos the quoted price does not include checked in luggage so you pay for that too. along with meals. and there's no in flight entertainment so good luck to the easily bored.

@lally_leeds, sorry you mean ukay-ukay? Nope wala that area but it's a pedestrian shopping area marami kang makikita na mura dun compared to the branded products sold at the big department stores or boutiques.

Na try mo ba yung air asia trip from KL to Paris? How was it?

nag mock booking ako sis and on the dates i've chosen, lumabas na $100 lang yung difference sa price ng air asia and emirates. worth it lang yung air asia if you get a promo fare. yung regular fares nila, konti lang difference with regular airlines.

so i booked another airline na lang. package ang kinuha ko.

but my friend is flying with air asia this june to paris so tanong ko sya pagbalik nya kumusta experience nya.

^^sis, no flea markets near Cara's place. The flea markets are usually outside of central Paris like the Saint-Ouen flea market (Les Puces de St-Ouen). Take metro ligne 4 and get off at Porte de Clignacourt or metro ligne 13 get off at Garibaldi. It's a pretty famous flea market.

Anyone who tried the Paris Pass? It includes the Paris Museum Pass and the Paris Visite Pass. Feedback please. Am doing the cost analysis for this but I'm just wondering parang hindi sya ganun ka-popular.

^^Kaya ako di ko pinapatulan ang mga ME carriers kasi andaming transit or mahaba ang transit time. Gusto ko max one stop lang.  Wala kasi tayong direct now from Manila unless you're going to AMS lang and you have KLM. As to the USD800++ RT fare, you can find more or less the same fares with other airlines. I go for CX if I want to arrive early sa destination ko, KLM naman for their direct AMS flight.
