Ako prayers talaga. May year ako na i strongly thought of suicide but i hate the sight of blood. So kumapit ako kay God talaga, very helpful. I have nothing against psychiatrists, but i wouldn't spend money just to talk to people. It is also my belief that anything is possible with God. Meron naman mga free groups who can help you with depression and problems (i go to mga groups sa church ko).

^But you just don't talk to them. Uungkatin kasi nila ang dahilan ng depression and from there will decide if you need medication or not. I strongly suggest to everyone going through depression to get professional help. And it doesn't mean that if you ask for help, mahina na ang pananampalatay mo. It's really far from the truth. Depression is a disease. It's like saying if you have a broken bone, all you need is to pray and it will heal itself. I doesn't work that way, you need to go to the hospital for that.

^yup i understand na hindi lang talk. Meron kasi sa mga church who has people qualified to dothe same thing as psychiatrists do. Hindi siya basta basta na tao, talagang they trained for it. There are also churches that has people who cast out evil spirits.

I believe it all boils down on one's belief. Ako I believe i  God and His power (sorry if im being "religious", pero i just want others to see where I'm coming from). persoanlly i believe the devil attacks a person kaya nadedepress siya, or nagkakaproblem, or nagkakasakit. Because of that belief,  my automatic response is pray and seek the church leaders. And knowing my church has the same service that a trained and certified psychiatrist do, I would go sa free haha

Im suggesting an alternative lang na free :)

^I understand what you are saying. There are lots of trained Christian counselors. I know because my church has too.

I think what I am trying to say here is to clarify that if you have depression or you're struggling to deal with it, that your faith is weak. That is far from the truth. I know a lot of good Christian people that are struggling with the disease. I know for a fact that prayers and faith can do a lot of things. But God also use doctors and professionals to deal with our physical problems. Ang dami kasing naja-judge sa Christian communities dahil meron silang depression and it certainly does not help. So yes, do whatever you can and do however you can to deal with depression.

I started going to this counselor/ psychologist that was suggested by a friend.  I will ask her tomorrow about her background but she's quite accurate and very perceptive.  Let's see if I will feel better as I have more sessions with her. Ang mahal lang.

i have been working out and i must say its really effective with depression. maganda talaga lumalabas sa bahay and doing something productive . hindi ako masyado depressed ngayon . issue ko lang is I'm socially awkward  . i dont know if i have aspergers or social anxiety. i think this social awkwardness was a result when i did cut off all my friends from my life back in 2012 and i did become a hermit (i didnt leave the house ). i want to act normal and be normal. ayoko isipin ng mga tao I'm a weirdo. halata kasi sa body language ko my awkwardness .can i psychiatrist /psychologist help me become more confident and assertive?

^Sis, I am socially awkward at times.  You need to accept yourself and know what you  really want (want to be alone or be with people?).  Avoid being not true to yourself.  Also, practice not to think about what other people will think of you.  Thinking about other's people's perception ang ikakadownfall mo.

Once you have accepted and embrace everything that you are, you are okay.

From time to time, I still get depressed. And I know na hindi to yung basta malungkot lang ako kasi hindi ako makakain, wala akong gana.

Or just cry your heart out to God. And trust na He will not let you down as long as you wont let Him down. To not give up on your life.

And whenever I feel depressed or may malaki na naman akong problema (lagi sa love life ko naman) I just say to myself na I dont need any of these in my life. I will choose to be happy and ignore all the negativity in my life. What they think of me is not important. What I think about myself is. And always remember that those who mind dont matter and those who dont mind matters.

The devil likes to make us feel incomplete, inadequate and depress, we have to lift our worries to God.  I know its not easy, I'm a work in progress myself.  I plan to attend counseling but for now I'm undergoing therapy sessions.

I'm working out too.  And they say that the oxytocin, the feel good hormones that come out when we exercise helps fight depression.  Para sakin, looking good and losing weight makes me more confident.

I was going to try that also, remove all caffeine from my diet to help with my worsening panic attacks. Nahihirapan lang ako kasi I actually look forward to having coffee every morning, so ewan ko kung makakatulong sa akin or I'd be even more anxious by removing this habit. But I will give it a good try.

^Mag cacaffeine withdrawal ka sis.  You will definitely miss your coffee, I take mine nespresso black kaya mahirap.  On my first day, nakatulog ako ng 7:30 PM dahil lumabas lahat ng pagod ko, on the 2nd day, very very sluggish.  But after those things, hindi na ako nag papanic attack.  It must be the high dosage of caffeine that's causing my fears, anxiety, etc.

I feel the same way too.  That the devil attacks us, and its usually families.  They call it landmines at church.  And it did the exact same thing to my family so I now i feel depressed.

I wasn't diagnosed with depression pero feeling ko meron ako nito. I'm only 22 years old, I graduated college when I was 19 and I haven't been employed since.

I'm so lost right now :/

ashblanc hi, I'm not an expert, pero I can say that I've had my fair share of series of depression phases in my life, pero usually kapag merong event na root cause like ending a relationship. Transferring to another school or place because of money, family problems, etc. Or event that took place na nagpalungkot sayo, kasi kung employment ang issue mo, 22 yrs old ka palang, you are still very young, and like yous aid tumulong ka naman sa parents mo so di ka naman unproductive, you can mention that in interviews and put it in your CV.

Ok I don't know kung ok 'tong advise na 'to, pero let me try, kung employment ang tingin mo root cause ng depression mo, medyo madali ang process ng employment sa BPOs try mo para lang masubukan mo magapply, mag exam, ma interview etc. Your choice kung tutuloy mo or not, pero usually kasi mga BPOs 1 day process lang, malalaman mo din agad if you're hired. Madami ako kilala na under grad and di naman kagalingan sa English or katalinuhan nakakapasa naman later on nageexcel and napopromote pa nga and they are really very content and happy.

Also, masaya din environment don and ok ang compensation. Balitaan mo kami.

Minsan kasi yung boredom, kagaya nga ng sabi nila an idle mind is a devil's playground, paka busy ka, baka sakali magiba takbo ng isip mo at gumaan pakiramdam mo. You need to help yourself. You need to put yourself out there. Try exercising too, and eating healthier, malaki din matutulong nyan.  :D
