Hi mga sis! I know medyo wrong topic here BUT i can find no help in the pregnancy forums. I seem to have PRENATAL DEPRESSION( see symptoms below ) i find that i can relate to the symptoms in this thread. I just get frustrated sa pregnancy forums coz their meaning of depression is SITUATIONAL. Mine isnt. Hoping someone can help

Note: i have no history of depression. These symptoms just appeared during my 14th week of pregnancy.

Im now 31 weeks and the depression is still there. It is not a situational type of sadness coz i was happy naman with the pregnancy. All of a sudden lang on week 14 its as if someone turned off a switch in my brain. My symptoms are:

Unexplained sadness - no reason pero sobrang sad ko. I have a good life, great kids, great hubby, no problems BUT im sad! I cry out of sadness for no reason!!! When i see my kids i cry!! Parang lahat ng happiness manifests into sadness

Anxiety attacks

Insomia

Feeling numb emotionally - i just cant feel happy! Maski happy occasion i feel sad. Its so weird! When i see my kids its as if im looking at strangers kids. Wala akong emotions

No feelings for the unborn baby

Loss of interest in the things i used to like

Went to a psychiatrist coz i cant take the unexplained sadness / despair ( mental torture ) anymore, she gave me anti depressants. But i didnt take them.
My ob ayaw din ako mag take ng anti depressants. He said its pregnancy related / hormonal and will go away on its own.

So now im suffering from these weird moods waiting for the baby to pop out and PRAYING / HOPING. That the old happy me will return. And NO post partum depression.
I can barely function and i feel guilty im failing my kids. They dont understand why i cry and why im so sad! ( kasi wala naman reason [textspeak!] cep for hormonal imbalance! )

I will understand pa if i have financial problems or matital problems but my life is good! Kaya i feel im goung crazy. And parang no one has experienced this while pregnant thats why walang nakakarelate.

People just say pray, think positive snap out of it. How can u snap out of something that doesnt have a cause?!
So frustrated lang. I want to feel normal again. And hoping to reach out who has experienced this.
Iba if the sadness is caused by a situation ( complicated pregnancy, stress, problems at work etc... ) tan kaya ma get over
Pero kung hormonal imbalance? Sakit na ba to? Or it will go away once the baby pops out?

I have uncontrollable rage too when my kids are screaming i almost strangled my 5yo. People are w me round the clock so i wont be alone.
Im not suicidal

Just wondering if anyone experienced this?

Iba talaga ang severe depression. I find it difficult to believe that it can be overcome through sheer willpower only...and if so, for how long will you be able to control it, really. It's an uphill battle.

^ While it is an uphill battle, it is a winnable battle. But help must be sought. And help must be provided earnestly and fervently. Don't give up.

That's really very encouraging to hear.  A lot of people around me don't realize how overwhelming it can get sometimes, so that adds to the feeling of isolation and helplessness, and makes me always wonder what is the point of it all. I can't describe the feeling, really.

Will try out other types of therapy.

hello everyone! im currently experiencing depression right now. It has been weeks actually. I feel so down, sad, being moody. I cant take it anymore. I just have to go to work everyday to convince myself  im okay to pretend im fine. My officemates used to know me as a jolly person, who can laugh even at your corniest joke, i can laugh even in a small things. But for these past few weeks, I was sooo depressed! I cant even tell my friends about it and then they just started asking if im okay, that this is really unusual. I started not to talk to them, i felt isolated all the time. Siiiiggghhh! im having some issues at home, family problem and i just cant tell my officemates about it. Maybe i was too afraid being judge. But i manage to do my job or perform better. I know my relationship to people Im closed to get affected, i sometimes feel like talking to people get me soo exhausted. I just then realized i need to see a psychiatrist to see whats wrong with me, to tell them everything since i cannot tell everything to my officemates whom i consider my friends. Im being scared of being rejected or got a response that im just being overdramatic or being soo negative. I just want someone to help me to understand, to listen to me not to stop me, soo thats why i came across this thread. if you guys know a psychiatrist whose rates are cheaper or free consultation, pls message me. Anyway, i dont know who im seeing first if it would be psychiatrist or psychologist to do counseling.. any advice? thanks!

I actually went to a psychiatrist with my then boyfriend.  The cost turned me off that I had no choice but to just pray and hope things will get better.  I would not consider this "just" depression because I was contemplating death at that point in my life.  I went through things that not everyone would understand and not everyone would probably still be up and about after going through that.

Ayun, somehow I'm a lot better now.  My siblings would joke about me being bipolar.  I probably am, and as long as I'm not affecting my family so much, I would just pray that this will eventually go away.  I don't understand din why I feel so depress at times when I already have everything I need (and want) in my life.

Hello! May ganitong thread pala. I had been experiencing depression, mga June 2015 until May 2016. Naghanap ako ng new work after a month, pero nag resign din lang ulit. Emotionally, mentally and physically stressed siguro. Dalawa lang yung gusto kong mangyari noong panahong depressed ako. It was either mamatay ako or mag abroad at dun mag asawa (para makatakas na rin siguro sa responsibilities at makalimutan lahat). Hindi biro yung pinag daanan ko, I was an outgoing person, pero lahat yun nag bago. Extrovert ako before, pero nabawasan lahat.

After ilang days, balik ulit sa dati.

Nabasa ko "Quarter Life Crisis" daw.

Hi sis. I had the same feeling before.

Halos ganyan din nararamdaman ko last year and until this year..

I know EVERYBODY says this all the time but be strong, have faith.. and seek medical help, alam ko yung feeling na hindi naman nila ko naiitindihan eh, wala sila alam sa nararamdaman ko kaya ang dali nila sabihin na "kaya mo yan".. someone said that prayers cant help. believe me. it can help. because everything is possible with God.

Kaya in a way amazed din ako sa mga long-time sufferers of depression, at how they're able to battle it and live with it. Kasi with other obstacles in life, pwede mo pang masabi na you can overcome it with positive thinking, mental toughness, or some other sort of mind conditioning. Eh paano na sa depression, when the disorder is already with the way you think and feel.

to deal with depression, you need to talk to your trusted friend and your family, Mag exercise  o kaya sali ka sa mga activities or kung saan ka interesado.

I've been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Bipolar II. Last year, I went through depression which lasted months. When asked by my psychiatrist how depression felt like for me, I said, "During that time, I felt stuck." It was as if things could never improve and I would never achieve anything in life.

Depression is not something one can just snap out of. You can't just say to someone who is depressed, "Don't be sad anymore" or "Do this and that and you'll feel better". It does not work that way.

I remember there were days when getting up in the morning was nearly impossible. And sometimes, sleeping it off was the only way to get through. I was not just sad. I felt empty. And I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone. I believed it was a waste of time because people do not really care about each other.

Then, one day, I just woke up and made the decision to cut off triggers - people, situations, habits, places. That was how recovery started for me. But it was really, really hard. I relapsed multiple times. But I knew I had to keep going. Looking back, I think I should've consulted a psychiatrist sooner. I dealt with my depression in destructive ways and I started rebuilding only this year. I'm not depressed anymore. I haven't been in months. But since I have BPD/BPII (and therefore prone to depression), I have to be extra careful about exposing myself to triggers. I also need to be diligent about therapy.

2016 has been kind to me though. Good things are coming in. This year helped me understand why 2015 had to happen.
