-you sleep way too much
-keep to yourself
-always low on energy
-rather stay home and not do anything ever... or even see day light.
-you find yourself crying a lot
-you can't concentrate on anything you need to do

Lahat yan naeexperience ko now except crying a lot dahil pinipigilan ko. I was suicidal last year, pati faith ko halos mawala na. Ngayon bumabalik na naman depression ko halos di na naman ako kumakain, I know I'm being selfish but I wish na sana mamatay na ko, I'm so tired.

I think I experienced depression before.
It took me almost 1 year before I get over.

paano kung wala kang funds to seek professional help and buy meds? meron ba way to deal depression?

just to share: every now and then i have had depression/anxiety attacks. i prayed continuously. it helps praying rather than worrying but then, devil will continue to attack me by reminding me all the things that will make me feel depressed and anxious. factors that affect me:
-habitual philandering spouse
-jobless/no income
-disobedient children
-friends had no time with me
-deceased parents both mom and dad
-helpless sisters both are single moms
-relatives outcasted us due to our previous debts with them
-animosity with my inlaws
-pregnant now
-threats by my spouse's mistress
-sickness
-loss bec. i dont know my purpose

kung meron lang ako mga leads where i could seek help and find my purpose.  i surrendered everything to our heavenly Father. And I prayed that all of us who are suffering may find our purpose and peace.  God bless,

Importante talaga yung wag ikahiya and to get professional help. Iimply na may sira ka or whatnot! Mental illness is just like any other type of sickness.

^ The main issue I think is the cost of seeking help aside from the fact that it's also taboo to even mention that you might be experiencing depression.  People kinda expect you to just get over it.

What works for me, yung iba kababawan lang actually pero it helps.

1. Pray. Pinaka importante sakin to. Pray for strength to carry on.

2. Have a support group. Walang sawa sila makinig sakin kahit paulit ulit ako. I have set of friends online na may groupchat and palagi ko sila nakakausap. Then my other friends na halos everyday ko nakakasama.

3. Sleeping pills.

4. Journal. I like to gather my thoughts tapos sinusulat ko lang.

5. Boxing to release endorphins. Super ok lalo na pag may pinagdadaanan kang break up. Masarap manuntok habang may minumura kang lalake sa isip mo. May chance ka pang sumexy. Hehe

6. Videoke.

7. Cry. Iyak kung iyak. Higa lang maghapon. Ganun talaga eh may times na sobrang nanghihina ka to do anything, ine embrace ko lang yung pain.

8. Think positive. Kahit anong hirap, ang mantra ko na is "The best is yet to come"

9. Sound trip.

11. Movies. Same lang din with soundtrip

12. Hanap ng ibang pagkaka abalahan. Nung time na nasunugan ako ng bahay ang ginawa kong divertion is maging active sa mga outreach program. Inisip ko, kung ano man ang problema ko, madami pa dyan na mas mabigat ang problema sakin and kung somehow makakatulong ako sa kanila and i can make them feel better, baka sakali i will feel better as well. Minsan naman pagkaka abalahan ko is DIY nail art, baking, boxing, aerial silk, pole dancing.

13. Magpaganda. Make up, bleach ng kilay, mani / pedi, haircut, hair color. At least kahit may pinagdadaanan, hindi naman halata on the outside. Helps me fell better about myself.

14. Self help books.

One thing i never do is uminom / maglasing pag problemado. Mas gusto ko hinaharap depression head on.

Exactly. In a lot of ways, the taboo is making seeking help even more inaccessible.

Before, naisip kong mag seek ng professional help pero I know magastos. Ang hirap kaya pagdaanan ang state of depression. Yung tipong alam mo na walang makakaintindi sayo pag nag open up ka so ang tendency is to keep all your burdens na lang.
There is one person who helped me overcome this stage. Shes a complete stranger. Sa session namin she just let me cry. She let me cry without judging me.  I cried super hagulgol pa. I realyzed I just have to let it out..
So how to overcome depression.. Wag mo solohin. Find someone who will listen.

Hi! Just joined FN and GT here.
I think I'm depressed again (or I haven't actually conquered it). Last year, sobrang nadepressed ako. I hated almost everything about my life: friends, family, job. My perspective towards my previous job got so worse that I decided to resign. And the bad thing about that was I didn't have funds to go to a psychologist. I tried the one in Ateneo CEFAM. Okay naman yung nakausap ko doon, although I am not sure if psychologist siya. The payment was donation so I was able to give in a way, pero siyempre nakakahiya. Then second session ko was in East Ave. I just wanted to try something new, kasi center for mental health siya. But I had to pay for 500 just for 1 session. After that, naubusan na ako ng funds so I wasn't able to go to any doctor/healthcare anymore. Sobrang nadepress ako dahil wala akong job and I did try to apply naman. It's just that seeing people online posting where they are or what their achievement were made me more miserable about myself. Eventually, nakapasok naman ako sa job. The problem is bumabalik nanaman yung depression ko. I know kasi nawawalan nanaman ako ng motivation. I am starting again to stay up late and find it hard to wake up in the morning. I never smoked, but the recurring thoughts to smoke is in my once again. And my sexual vice is starting to creep up again.

I am so frustrated about having no results in life. But at the same time I am scared to take action. I fear rejection so much. I think I got it from being traumatized when I was a kid. I barely have any memories of my parents approving whatever I did. I was bullied too, jokingly by my dad. I didn't treat it seriously, but I can terribly feel the effect on my self-confidence. I never knew how to standup to bullies. Even when I was in high school. I was Top 2 of the class, but the popular kids hated me for it.

I don't know. Sobrang nadodown nanaman ako.

^Hello... Halos ganyan din ako..
I am so disappointed din sa mga results in my life.. At ako laging nahuhuli.. Last year sobrang na depress ako kasi nawalan ako ng work nun, tapos nag apply ako and nagkaroon naman ng work pero sobrang stressful at nag resign ako,. Tapos wala ulit akong work, talagang wala na akong motivation nun, at I have dark thoughts and suicidal thoughts pa.. Tapos this year nag ka work ulit ako pero yun nga nawawalan ulit ako ng motivation at depressed pa din, kasi may mga nag resign..Pero tinatry ko siyang labanan.. This weekend mag papatingin ako sa isang Psychiatrist..

I hope ok siya.. I think almost six years na.. Meron din akong social anxiety I think..
Don't worry.. Halos parehas tayo ng nararamdaman.. Ngayon ganun din ako, staying up late and finding it hard to wake up in the morning to go to work.. Haay..

Post modified. Please refrain from quoting long posts, use the ^ or @ instead.

I've struggled with anxiety and depression since high school, feeling ko nga kahit nasa elem pa ko kasi i found an old elem book ko at may mga pages na nakasulat, " i am sad. im so sad and i dont know why?".

Years have gone by and the pattern of feeling good and feeling helpless has repeated time and time again, and instead of dealing with the problem, I ignored it. I hardly shared with anyone even sa family ko, only my running mate may alam nito kasi tinanong nya ko bakit ko tumatakbo, sinabi ko para sa depression ko, nagulat sya kasi hindi daw halata may pinag dadaanan ako.
Ang hirap pa rin lalo na pag mas matimbang ang events o situation na mag trigger uli para sumpungin ako. esp now, kaka break lang namin ng bf ko for 5yrs. so heto nag start uli ako ma down.

Sometimes, all you need is a good friend. yung di ka i judge na emo lang yan o may tama ka na, saltik lang yan, baliw ka na... basta yung friend na pa feel lang sakin andyan sya. good thing may nakilala ako sa running group namin.

As much as possible, lumalabas ako pag kinakain ako ng sobrang lungkot. sure marami sa inyo nakaka experience nito pag nasa loob ng bahay at mag isa na lang.

Acceptance, mas madali kasi if tanggapin natin may mental prob tayo, there is nothing to be ashamed about.

While medication may not be the answer for everyone, it might be for you and you should not hesitate to go to a doctor and find out what options there are so that you can feel happy and enjoy life again.

  ;)

I experienced it before when my ex and I broke up.  Lagi akong malungkot, walang ganang kumain as in ilang subo lang nasusuka na ako tapos hindi ako masyado nakakatulog.. I agree it is really hard to overcome depression.  I think it takes time.  Hindi ako nagtake ng meds siguro acceptance na lang den go out with your friends, have fun and don't forget to seek help from God, it will help a lot.

I just want to make sure that people are actually understanding what depression really means. Since some people who are posting seem confused themselves -- saying that they "got over it" eventually by just going out with friends or praying.

There is the extreme sadness you feel with the loss of someone you love or experience disappointment in life -- THIS is somewhat temporary. And then there's clinical depression -- which is the real deal. Prayers? They can only do so much. Let me make it clear that if you do have faith, then by all means, use it as an aid. But because it's a chemical imbalance or something else going on in the brain, it's not that easy to just suppress the battle that goes on in ones head. This is what needs the psychiatric intervention and medication.

Depression is a serious, serious issue. Perhaps its because I'm not a religious person but I just shake my head every time it's suggested that clinical depression could be cured by prayers.

I agree..
But they don't know hot it really feels especially kung matagal mo na siyang nararamdaman..
Haay..

Thanks for the empathy.

It's starting to worsen again. I need to see a doctor immediately, but then again, problem nanaman is yung funds :( I don't know what to do na. I know my bf is doing his best to understand and encourage me, but I feel nothing. No amount of inspiring words motivate me anymore :( I dunno, I can't understand myself. The since last week I started to be supercranky. Like I just control myself, otherwise I could have hurt/smothered other people when they piss me off. I now sleep at 2am. The other day I slept for 8 hours, but it was so light. And my dreams weren't pleasing.

Help :( I hope you guys can recommend someone. I am not sure if I should see a psychologist only or psychiatrist already.
