:) Thanks sis tawnylee & thanks to for sharing your experience's through your post medyo lumalakas yung loob ko kc I though parang wala ng pag-asa to cure this, but because of your post you inspire me to do something kc galing narin ako sa psychiatrist & she prescribe me some meds takot naman akong inumin ito kc bk maging addictive lang ako. Thanks a lot I hope I can cope up through this I'll try to go with your therapist. I hope some day will see each other to thank you personally. GOD Bless Us All...

Hi,

sis, with regards to your therapist, by appointment ba yun or puwede ako pumunta dun anytime ? one question, does she do "psychiatric or psychological evaluation" ? gusto ko kasi malaman baka may iba pa akong sira aside from OCD and Panic Disorder.

My sister has OCD. She also goes to my therapist and she's also able to cope with it better na. So talagang from the outset palang, ang dami nang sira sa family namin hahaha :P.

We are doing advanced mindfulness now. Sobrang ganda ng therapy na to, in conjunction with CBT. I'm just happy to know someone going through the same thing.

The term my therapist uses is "observing things non judgementally", or just looking at your emotions and things without judging them, instead of trying to avoid them. :)

God bless sis.

Hello everyone. I hope you are all okay and doing fine. Meron talagang sakit na Depression na kailangan gamutin. Proven and studied na ang Depression.

Na diagnose ang brother ko ng Clinical depression 15 yard ago. he was given anti depressant for 6 months. nag therapy din siya. Nagtagal ng 5 years on off ang symptoms nya. tapes after that ang tita ko naman treated din for depression.

Ako, every now and then I feel the symptoms ( nasa lahi kasi and Depression). In December to January last year, I suffered a major bout. I was contemplating on suicide and risky behaviors. Talagang wish ko mamatay na ako. Galit ako sa lahat pati kay God. Nobody knows about this except me. I reffuse to take medicines despite my symptoms. I prefer organic food.

There is an organic herb called St. John's wort. I took that. I ate bananas and chicken. Yun daw kasi ang mataas ang serotonin ( yung chemical responsible for depression). Nag yoga ako at nag hobby. It's been 6 months already, medyo nawawala na siya.

I hope everyone is in a pink of health. Depression is a serious matter. If you need to talk to someone, email nyo lang ako margaritabythebeach@yahoo.com.  ;)

hello! i'm currently being treated for depression. I am doing counseling and medications. dati almost every other day ako nagcoucounseling. ngayon super bihira na. i was diagnosed with depression a year ago. totoo na exercise does help. medically proven na yan. google mo na lang. my psychotherapist recommends meditation at sabi niya mas maganda daw kung meditation is with exercise, so sabi nya try ko daw yoga or tai chi.

i'm also trying acupuncture right now. i did my first session this week. sabi ng acupuncturist ko, every 2 weeks daw dapat and then after that once a month.

Good for you luisacart! I'm happy for you.  :)

ugghhh.. I'm with in the description of depression...
Its not a good thing.

My family is elsewhere and are working hard...
so I do not burden them with my problems.

I just realized that I need my friends...
I have been dissing them for "my boy"..
but he left me...
we fought because I'm suffocating him with my problems...

drama is a wh*r*

I'm trying to learn how to love myself again...
So I can deal with the depression for real.

hi kyhoote,
ano ba ang nararamdaman mo ngayon?

i'm suffering from depression and anxiety attack too. i'm trying to keep myself busy as much as possible, dahil pag idle mind ako dun ako sinusumpong. grabe in a snap of a finger nagbabago ang moods ko. ang hirap hirap. nangyari to sakin due to traumatic events in my life. sana magkaroon tayo ng support group dito sa Gt..

Hi em.em, that is a good idea. We can start that support group. usap tayo if you need to talk to someone.  :)

Great idea sisses to have a support group.
I was alone too when I suffered from Depression. I only had my psychiatrist to share my anxieties and problems then. It was too difficult. Now am better and off from my medication.
It was terrible to suffer from depression and would be really happy to support our sisses who are presently undergoing this illness.

Btw, for those who were done with anti-depressant meds. Did you experience any side effects?
Mine is losing weight.

Mine is losing weight.

i have not taken any anti-depressants because i have mild depression only and i do not want to take them because they have lots and lots of side-effects. ( it can even change your personality )

current studies show that anti-depressant drugs are not even effective in mild to moderate depression. it is only very effective in severe depression like yung ayaw mo na gumising sa umaga at hirap ka bumuhat sa higaan because you are so depressed at sobrang wala ka nang appetite.

for less severe cases, what really works is Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Exercise. Yes it is exercise, as in Cardio 30 minutes of walking and running 5 times a week will keep you up.

Supplements help a lot too. i tried 5-htp, st. john's wort, inositol and none seem to help me. The only supplement that worked for me is L-Tryptohan. i have read all the studies about it and it only works if you take it on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals.

i take 3 X 500 mg capsules before breakfast and 2 X 500 mg capsules before lunch.

In CANADA, L-tryptophan is prescription only drug for depression (brand name is Tryptan). In US, EUROPE and Philippines L-tryptophan is considered FOOD SUPPLEMENT  :D.

Actually TRYPTOPHAN is also found in Meat, Milk and Vegetables. You might be thinking na eh di kumain na lang ako ng maraming meat. WRONG! To be effective, Trytophan must be absorbed in the stomach na walang ibang kasamang protein because it will lose its effectiveness. That is why you should get Pure and Isolated Tryptophan on an Empty Stomach.

Once Tryptophan is absorbed in the stomach, it increases the FEEL GOOD chemicals in the brain called SEROTONIN (makes you feel happy). Any excess SEROTONIN is converted by the brain to MELATONIN (which makes you feel sleepy).

So you know if your brain have made enough SEROTONIN if after a few hours of taking L-Tryptophan you feel Sleepy.

In case, of Anti-Depressants, it works by preventing the breakdown of Serotonin. So ang mangyayari pag nasobrahan ka ng Anti-Depressants, you could have brain damage because of EXCESSIVE Serotonin.

If you Overdose on L-Tryptophan, nothing will happen because any excess Serotonin will just be converted by the brain to Melatonin which will make you very SLEEPY and DROWSY.

question.. pano nyo masasabing sinusumpong kayo ng depression? what are the signs na kailangan na mag consult?

it's a lingering feeling of sadness, hopelessness and no motivation/drive to spend your day. if that feeling persists for 2 weeks to the point that it interferes with your daily activities, it will be considered clinical depression. there are people who easily gets sad and hopeless it depends genetically and how they grow up.

it's normal to feel sad specially kapag namatayan, you lose your job, lose your boyfriend etc. but if the feeling of sadness is too much and lingers for a long time, it is depression.

there are people that feels sad even without a cause, now that is textbook Clinical Depression. people who gets sad and hopeless without a cause have chemical imbalance in the brain and they may need to take medication.

it's possible to alter the way you think in such a way that you get more resilient to depression provoking things that is why we have Cognitive Behavior Therapy CBT and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy or MBCT.

Sis, tawnylee has a very good therapist who practices CBT and MBCT. Ako naman i do it personally to myself. Sort of i am the patient and at the same the therapist for myself. CBT and MBCT can be learned but if you can afford to get a Therapist, i would suggest that you go to a therapist.

Sis, tawnylee is prescribed by her therapist to have MBCT. i do it to myself it it's really working. it just takes time. 8 Weeks is the minimum time frame before it works. You have to be very very patient and highly committed to do MBCT because it takes a lot of practice and meditation.

I will going to the therapist of sis tawnylee as soon as i have the time.

After reading your posts, I think I am also experiencing depression. Background check I came from a broken family then my mother died when I was 18. I think this is where it all started, feeling ko mag isa na lang ako kasi only child ako yung father ko may iba ng family.

When I read this thread, I realized that I'm suffering from depression for several years now without knowing it. =( That feeling of restlessness. Waking up in the morning "already" tired despite the 8-hour sleep I got during the night.

Hi sis, if you are feeling depressed, the best way to lessen it is to get those depressing thoughts out of your head either by talking to someone or writing it on a note (journaling). It is even better if you can write it on this forum since we can react to what you have posted.

You may need counseling (not medications) to release all those negative feelings that seemed to have been trapped on your past. I also have some past issues which already changed the way i am into a negative thinker and easy to get depressed person. Somehow these issues in the past needs to be settled by counseling.

I also advise you NEVER TO RESIGN on your Job because it would make the situation worst. What you need is more people to be on your side. more hobbies, more things to enjoy, get physical as much as possible. the best treatment for depression is cardio (exercise) (no joke) and a lot of people to talk to (friends, relatives etc. )

As much as possible avoid spending your time in front of a Computer or TV this is not really good based on my experience and based on the books that i am reading about anxiety and depression.

Limit your Computer and TV Time to no more than 2 hours a day. The rest of your days should be spent interacting with other people. ( I am guilty of spending too much time on PC that is why my anxiety and mild depression won't go away ).

Hi Kittenchi, tama si Kheanne. Try also to have a new hobby to help you get distracted. So that there is something to look forward to. enroll in courses that will allow you to make use of your hands. Daily walking will help you as exercise releases endorphins (happy hormones) .

Take you life one day at a time. :-)

hi kheanne, how long did you suffer? Wow, galling mo naman, it takes courage talaga to get out of depression, like you did.   ;) Ako I just got tired of feeling sorry for myself. i got tired of feeling like a loser when I know I accomplished a lot of things naman. Now, I am slowly picking up myself and going back to circulation. no one knows what I went through. when I look back, I realized i was so close to killing myself. I hope that feeling will not return.
