Finally saw Wicked last night. Please don't hate me for saying this - it's great, but I'm not crazy about it. It did not captivate me the same way Phantom and RENT did. I was moved to tears by The Wizard & I, Defying Gravity, and For Good. Beautiful things make me sob. One Short Day is cute. No One Mourns the Wicked is okay, too. But the other songs bored the heck out of me.

Jemma Rix's voice made the musical for me. I love her voice. Cool, calm, unpretentious. It reaches out to touch the heart. I'm considering watching Wicked one more time just to hear her voice again.

I might go to Seoul later this month to watch Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, and maybe Phantom. But Phantom is in Daegu pa. It's 4 hrs away from Seoul.

I loved Wicked! I've been listening to the soundtrack since I can't remember. I loved Elphaba and Glinda! If only I had excess budget I will watch it again.

@Frozen Toes: I feel the same way about "Wicked" and "Phantom of the Opera". While I enjoyed "Wicked", taob pa rin sa "Phantom". Plus, I don't think I'll ever get over how magnificent the set design for "Phantom" had been. (I do enjoy most of the songs from "Wicked", though. I think they were tied up rather neatly together. And aside from the ones you listed, I also love "I'm Not That Girl".)

Unfortunately for me, ampangit ng napanood kong na Rent! But I blame it on our Mimi, who was disastrously bad. mas natuwa pa ako sa "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "Aida".

Nagiguilty ako na wala ako masyadong napapanood na local theater productions. I did watch "Katy!" And it was really good. Pero aside from that, wala na. One reason for me is usually sa Quezon City yung venue, and that's too far from where I live and work.

^ Hooray for Phantom! I didn't watch the local production of RENT, but I heard it was mediocre daw. I have the DVD of the final Broadway performance and the movie, pero never ko pa napanood sa theatre talaga. I strongly believe they will return on or off Broadway someday. It's way too brilliant para hindi nila yon ibalik. These days, I've been listening to the OST of Tick, Tick... Boom! That other musical by Jonathan Larson. Not as powerful as RENT, but maganda rin.

Aida is one of my biggest theatre-related regrets. Hindi ko sya napanood. I listen to the soundtrack lang. Syempre, my favorite is Written in the Stars.

Katy! was fun. Went with my mum and she liked it. Favorite ko sa local musicals was Atlantis Productions' staging of Aladdin. Simple lang sya, but it was hilarious. Tuwang tuwa ako sa pagkakagawa. It was very much like the one sa Disney California Adventure Park (watched it on YouTube). Unlike The Little Mermaid, fearlessly na nagdeviate ang Aladdin sa official soundtrack ng Disney movie.

We're watching Wicked again next week. Naka-sale na yung ibang seats, so we went for it.

Yeeeah, I saw Wicked too.... and was underwhelmed by it.

I've read the book, seen videos a long time ago and have always hoped to see it that I was even planning to fly to SG to watch it one time.

imagine my excitement when they said it was coming here. I made sure I got the best seat so I could enjoy it, because -- hey, i've been waiting for it for a long time, it would be worth it.

then i saw it... i liked it, thats the best I could say about it. would probably recommend it, but wouldn't tell people to get the expensive seats. there was really nothing special, stage design wise.

i couldn't even join in when all of my friends came out raving about it and were talking about how they were crying at some parts.

a lot of things just bothered the shit out of me. that i couldn't fully enjoy it.

also, the people behind us were terrible theater goers that my friend and i almost got into a fight with them. i mean, who talks and sings over musical numbers in theaters?! ESPECIALLY DURING DEFYING GRAVITY?!

Didn't watch the local production of Wicked but comparing it to Matilda where I was floored, Wicked is good but not as mind blowing as the former.

Will catch Miss Saigon and Phantom of the Opera this June when I am in London and would see how they are. Sana lang I can get to catch Rachel Ann Go performing.

Watched Wicked last night and yung nasa likod ko  akala niya yata concert. Nakakasira ng moment. Gusto ko siya bilhan ng CD para sa bahay niya sabayan.

We just watched Rock of Ages in Broadway NYC. My husband and I loved it! Esp him, I didn't expect him to like musicals at all but he did. We will be watching The Lion King next week 😄

Saw The Book of Mormon last March. So funny!!! Nakaka-addict pala manood ng musicals. We want to watch American Idiot next kaso they're only here for one week and we can't go since I'm still recuperating. Sayang. Howell, next naman Wicked (despite the lackluster reviews here hehe) and Phantom.
