^Required ang comprehensive insurance if nakamortgaged pa yung car. If di na nakamortgage sa bank, pwede nang di comprehensive. Requirement pa rin ang insurance sa lto upon renewal of your vehicle's registration.

^^further to tamarind26's post, if your car is still mortgaged, the bank requires comprehensive insurance. but the LTO only actually requires tpl or third party liability insurance. but since comprehensive nga, naka package na ang tpl.

if you already fully own your car, you may or may not take comprehensive insurance. as long as wala bang untoward traffic accident at kung meron man, kaya ng finances mo ang gastos sa damages related to the accident. basta ang kailangan lang naman ng LTO upon renewal of registration is the tpl insurance.

also , please enlighten me, I have searched the coverage of comprehensive insurance and i found out na it only covers damage caused by incidents other than a car accident..meaning pag nabangga ang kotse mo di sya kasali sa coverage..unless, nanakaw, na-vandal, nabaha..or nabagsakan ng something..tama ba to?

^included na sa comprehensive ang accidents due to banggaan sis. eto yung "on damage" sa insurance policy. there are so many auto insurance companies out there. we have had mapfre but we switched to standard, commonwealth and bpi ms. nothing against mapfre naman kaso mas maganda lang ang coverage ng last three for us (low premium but high coverage). ensure lang sis na covered yung mga fortuitous events when you decide to get a comprehensive insurance na.

For those who have claimed before, I need your advice. My car was recently scratched by a tricycle while I was about to turn right, it was a hit and run though. Wasn't able to get the tricycle's plate or body number. Then, I already have a police report on this. My insurance is BPI MS, girls, please share naman your experience with BPI MS. We will go there on Oct 31 to file a claim and have the damage evaluated, are they fast in processing? Based from my conversation with my casa, around 12k ang damage. Thanks!!

^yes sis. That's why TPL or third party liability is required by LTO for every car registration. Ang insurance mo ang sasagot sa damage sustained ng car na binangga mo. as for the damage sustained by your car, dito papasok ang on-damage feature ng insurance and you have to pay a participation fee sa insurance mo when they assess the damage.

^Thanks sis. Nung na-aksidente kami last year, nagbayad din kami ng participation fee, 3.5k yata. Sana pala dun ko pinabayaran sa nakabangga sa amin.

so glad we got comprehensive insurance, my car was a casualty in a vehicular accident this morning (we are vehicle 3 of 3) and the initial quote of the car dealership is at 89k already. car is almost 2 years old and we have paid much less than 80k for the coverage,

Insurance 101. the insurance policy should always be more than the premium. the policy or warranty, for example, covers 1-2M liability limit but the price or the premium one paid for entitlement of this policy/warranty is only 30-40k.
