Need info on this too.  Uncle plans to buy a puppy from Manila and ship the puppy to Bacolod.  What are the requirements?  How much does the airline company charge for a pet (dog for this instance)?

Upon reading a link here to a blog where a distraught owner had lost their pet on a local flight , I thought that it would be best to speak up since it may be not common knowledge that certain breeds are RESTRICTED   from being transported internationally via air cargo during certain seasons for a reason.

These breeds are :

•    * Boston Terrier
      * Boxer
      * English or French Bulldog
      * King Charles Spaniel
      * Lhasa Apso
      * Pug
      * Shar-Pei
      * Shih Tzu

These breeds are usually restricted on most international flights during certain seasons due to respiratory issues inate to the breed due to the shape of their face. Although this breed restriction does not typically apply when the dog is travelling with you INSIDE the cabin.

Another detail the owner of the pet travelling should look into is the temperature during the time when they are landing and departing. Most cargo areas are not air conditioned . I suggest a landing outside  temperature of > 72 Farenheit.

conclusion: If you are in the philippines ,you should book your flights for travelling with a pet you should book your flight for night time flights.

I have a yorkie  and we are moving to a different country soon. We love our dog soo much that we don't want to leave him behind. When he was still a baby he used to pee on his peepee pad but I have trained him to peeee outside (2x a day) and he only pooopss on grass  I started placing pee pads around our place but ofcourse he expects us to take him out on a certain time.  His only 4.5 pds and I am for sure will be able to bring him with me under my front seat. I have looked for an airline that will let me do that. I heard horror stories about traveling with their dogs.

Any tips that will help us during his travel? It's a 16hr flight

^sis, as far as I know airlines here don't transport pets in cabin unless it's a seeing eye dog. Pets are transported as either checked-in baggage or cargo and are loaded inside the aircraft's belly.

Check with your airline their requirement on transporting pets. Each airline have different requirements kasi. Do it sooner than later para hindi ka naghahabol ng oras trying to gather the documents needed.

yea airlines is all figured out and medical documents...i just thought somebody might be able to have an experiance on having their dogs with them on a long flight that can give me the do's and don'ts while in the airplane. thanks anywayz

Sorry couldn't help you out as I don't have any personal experience travelling with pets. But just to reassure you international carriers  all have strict procedures in place to ensure that pets are transported safely and arrive at their final destination in good condition.

yea no i wouldn't let my dog to be in the cargo so i really looked for an airline that i can take him with me in the cabin. which i did! hehe my fare will be more expensive but i dont mind, id like to make sure he will be fine. i looked at other forums and read scary stories about having their dogs in the cargo so i wouldnt risk it. hehe thanks again thou

I suddenly remembered one of my passengers bringing his dog with him as PETC (pet in cabin)...while he was waiting for boarding, I found him and his pet at the gate, and his pooch was wearing a diaper! There was a hole in it so the tail could stick out.

That's sooo cute...i saw a pooch dressed up like a ballerina one time in the airport..hehe i trained my dog to hold his pee lol he can hold it for atleast 10hrs well until i get home from work and before i leave for work then walk him outside. But accidents do happen sometimes  diaper is a great idea but i know my dog won't walk if i do that to him hahahaha right now im training him to pee on a pad like when he was a baby.

^That may be true for some air carriers but not all. For Cathay Pacific, we don't restrict the travel or transport of these breeds but certain precautions are taken to ensure they travel safely. Check the link below:

Anybody who had any experience in pet importation from the PI to Australia? help naman po, kasi kung gaano kadali mag-pasok ng live animal into the Philippines eh siya namang hirap lalo to Aussie.Mas reasonable pa rules to the US.Am currently living in Singapore and I'm concerned about my pet cat...magbabakasyon po kasi kami ni hubby sa Pinas before moving on to Australia.May rabies pa kasi sa Pinas kaya daw napaka-higpit ng rules (hindi certified ang Aus.Quarantine ang Pinas-but Singapore is); although my cat is fully vaccinated,de-wormed,microchipped and all, hindi a rin re-assurance na papasukin siya straight away to the quarantine ng australia.help naman please, i love my cat dearly.she's a 4 month old female ragdoll nga pala...

u might want to consider shipping her ahead to australia, but im sure there will be a quarantine holding fine... if you want to bring her to the philippines, from what i understand she has to get a clearance from a certified veterinary clinic... the clinics may be able to assist you in regards to importing your pet to australia... good luck

Thankfully I never have to take Cebu Pacific...
I'm from Singapore and isasama ko ang pet cat ko during my vacation to manila.Matrabaho and daming paper works but it will be worth it naman.3 hours lang naman yung flight and I'm flying with Singapore Airlines...I read of a blog about a guy with 3 cats who flew from Sing-Manila nasira na kaagad yung carrier sa Changi airport pa lang (they flew with PAL)...so I'm not taking that chance.Anyway siguro kasi grown ups na cats niya.His cats flew from Manila to New York after wards with Delta Air and ok naman...I think yung local/domestic flights ang maraming restrictions on pet carriage.they travel as special baggage (meaning hindi pwede on board), you pay for them by the weight and of course meet them at the customs area of whichever airport you're landing in.

^^sis if I were you have somebody transport your cat directly from Singapore to Australia. Since the Phils. is not an AQIS approved country the Australian government will not permit the entry of your cat if it is coming from the Phils.

Singapore is an AQIS approved country so no problem transporting your cat from there.

hi i just need help cause i have no idea what to do if i'm going to bring my 2 shihtzu's with me to davao by plane, how do airlines quarintine them?, how much does an airline charge for animals?, where do i buy a carrier? and what do i need to bring na papers?by next month pa naman since she's still pregnant not sure if we can travel agad.
