GPS for cars

What are the things we have to consider in buying one? Is it really worth buying? I saw one in SM appliance center which costs 7,000++ though wasn't able to get the exact model but the saleslady said it was made by Garmin.. your thoughts please.. thanks

Yes it works.
I bought Garmin last week.
Map perfectly works.
Places like restos, gas stations and stuff are accurate too.
Problem lang yung direction.
"She" keeps on telling me to keep right when I know that I should go straight. Yung ibang daan medyo hindi nya kabisado.
Di rin sya aware sa mga one ways

yes, accurate sya, garmin din gamit namin, hubby got the newer model since he's been using an older version and unlike yong dati na babasahin mo lang ngayon touchscreen sya saka sinasabi nya bawat turn. maganda sa kanya naco-compute nya ilang kms etc papunta to a certain place miski magreroute ka magrerecalculate sya automatically. hindi lang nya alam yong mga uturns tsaka traffic-prone areas na factors para maka-add sa travelling time mo but as a map useful sya kasi magkakaidea ka gano kalapit or kalayo yong particular place na pupuntahan mo or ano malapit na landmarks. pwede ka din magplot ng places para in case balikan mo hindi ka maliligaw. hth

I got Garmin from the States.  I save the addresses of the places I frequent mahirap din kasi hanapin kahit may complete address.

usually, ano po ba yung range ng price ng GPS? worth it ba siya kahit hindi niya alam yung uturns at one way? kamusta naman po yung GPS kapag sa mga provincial areas? sa tingin ko kasi mas useful siya on planning road trips

Mas nagustuhan ko ang OVI Maps (from my BF's Nokia phone) than dun sa Garmin Nuvi namin.

Hi guys, i just got back from manila. We bought our Garmin in walmart, siguro around CAD$88 lang. It was on special. We've been using it sa trip namin sa US and shempre dito sa canada.  We downloaded the philippine map from torrent lang, and I must say I'm quite impressed kasi it worked in manila, and in angeles city.  alam nya yung mga unusual Uturn slots and yung mga pasikot sikot sa manila,  to think na ang gulo ng daan sa manila, alam din nya yung mga new malls pati yung daan papuntang pampanga, subic, angeles city and even my hubby's small town in pampanga. Pati new malls sa angeles city. Sobrang di talaga kami naligaw. loved it!

i like and need this. saan kaya makakabili and how much dito sa pinas. natatangal ba eto easily? kaso takaw sa magnanakaw kasi

^yeah madali lang tanggalin, we usually take it out pag lalabas na kami ng sasakyan then tinatago na lang namin kasi nga takaw tingin.

^for portable GPS' they come with suction cup mounts that you can put either sa dashboard or sa windshield.

yes, may mounts siya, we put din sa windshield.

we're here in dubai. we use GPS pag hindi masyadong familiar yung place na pupuntahan. tsaka medyo complicated kasi yung mga daan dito, though malaki at magaganda ang daan. minsan nakakalito pag hindi kabisado. :-)

aside sa road map, naka indicate din dun yung speed limits, and yung speed mo.

i know somebody who is selling garmin may around 10K siya pataas. depends ata sa model. may map narin ng pinas and he updates it pag meron.

may garmin kami pero i don't really follow the directions kasi mas magaling ako sa kanya. hehe.
