^ my friend said that the pawnshops take the going rate of gold and deduct na lang their percentage or what they want to purchase it for. pero this isn't a fool proof formula, yung iba nagbibigay lang ng value na mababa.

imho, i won't invest in jewelry if i wasn't liquid. i'll make sure na i have more than enough cash before i buy jewelry kasi cash can earn albeit little, interest sa bank pero yung jewelry pag ang mindset it i-pawn then magbabayad ka pa ng tubos.

thanks for the feedback sis. regarding pagsasanla, i dont think there is nothing wrong with thinking a step ahead. we have some emergencies din naman once in a while eh. at least im buying something na mapapakinabangan someday pag nagkagipitan na kesa splurge cash on items na wala naman value someday

no matter how you put it lugi talaga na mag sangla sa pawnshops. whatever buying style they have, money business sila and they aim to profit.  so even with fine pieces they'll give you less than half of what it's really worth so they can put a huge mark-up on it even if they call it 'scrap'.  I think when buying jewelry lalo if you plan on wearing them naman wala dapat sa end game yung  i-sangla. pawnshops to me are parang kapit na sa patalim na pangangailangan talaga but even if let's say I will need the money i'll sell it at an amount i am comfortable with or kung ibusiness man to sell after using eh no attachments.  so even if you don't have a lot be mindful lang siguro of what you invest in like up your standards to 18k-22k gold or sets,  diamonds na S-F ang clarity will be worth it in the long run to privately sell.

parang sister ko na who does'nt care about jewerly talaga one time lost one of her gold earrings and needed a quick replacement so she got cz's from one store. they were 3 graduated pieces with hypoallergenic posts and she was giving me one yung pinaka malaki. pero itsura palang horrible ang make and cz's alone aren't wise to buy naman to begin with, although may iba naman na setting na di garish and gaudy looking,  sabi ko sa kanya jokingly na i give her gold jewlery tapos bibigay nya cz! i asked her how much $15 din yun sabi ko soli nya. i don't think she did but i don't see her wearing it. eh sabi ko rin sa kanya na if you plan on wearing faux diamonds don't go for the big ones mas malalaman na fake, dun ka lang sa maliit na shiny shiny para pwedeng to pass on as real.

^lol investment din naman ang mukha kelangan pagandahin pero i'd go for skincare over makeup.

^ cant agree with you more! Jewelry is something to enjoy and to be passed on. If push comes to shove then i would re-sell it and let it go but not through a pawnshop because i would just be fooling myself with the amount that i will get.

My mom has always been a fan of jewelry and diamonds. She collects a lot for herself and to pass on to her daughters and she has taught me to buy to enjoy. And buy within your means meaning, total money less expenses less savings would be your extra money for wants and that is where to categorize jewelry.

My lola collected jewelry as well, lot of chinese gold, diamonds, rubies and blue sapphires and sold ithe remainder of her items to a jewelry shop after she enjoyed it and with that, she was able to buy a house. That is just amazing for me. My mom even passed on a set from my lola to me an another ring that she wore a lot when she was younger, if i resell that, the gold alone would surpass the purchase price.

i think swertihan lang din talaga sa pawnshop. kapag nagbackread kayo may mga nagshare dito na mura lang nila nabili yung jewelry pero nun binenta nila sa pawnshop, twice the price yung nakuha nilang appraisal

^^ i know some jewelry stores would kasi they melt the gold or re-use the stone. if you have a good network, you can sell it to friends or kakilala. my mom's friend does this and if the piece is specially nice or maganda yung sotne, it sells fast.

^ the odds are still stacked up to you. i mean if you needed the money and the appraisal is low, kakagatin mo din kasi and you also have to worry about the amount to get it back if ever. and for those who were appraised double the amount and knowing na pawnshops are their for income, how much more will you get if it wasn't sold sa pawnshop?

i find the use of skincare products far different from the use or collecting makeup. true hit and miss ang skincare (and makeup), there goes  show how far one will go for  fads or being 'in'  instead of sticking to a beauty regimen that works-I am guilty of this too, mind that we have the weather to fend our skin from pa so what usually works naman can quickly change sa konting iba nang pag ihip ng hangin (literally). makeup and colorette talagang I don't bother with and spend on, hanggang lipgloss lang ako.   kung make-up vs. jewelry I'd take jewelry. but then I figured, I have a fleeting desire for jewelry din and skincare is much more of staple for me. 

I was so tempted to buy earrings na silver ang hooks but the piece itself was of a different metal, and the stones were crystals. For the price naku kelangan on your guard talaga kasi in the long run lugi ka talaga with fancy jewelry no matter how pretty they are. If not kept well kasi they get so icky.

Yung mom ko mahilig din sa jewelry at kung anuanong accessories. Pero meron siyang lalagyan talaga ng mga totoong gold and diamonds o.o i once asked her bakit ang hilig niya sa ganun, sabi lang niya "eh sayo din naman mapupunta yan!" and something like "pag walang wala na talaga"

Di kasi ako mahilig sa mga ganito, nakawala na rin ako ng ilang singsing at hikaw nung kid ako. No idea talaga ako sa mga worth nito ~.~

Sabi ko nga sa partner ko wag niya ko ever bilhan ng mga mamahaling jewelry kasi di ko maappreciate at masuot baka mawala ko lang XD hayaan ko na lang mom ko na ipamana sakin kung ano man yun for sentimental value hihih

Mababa ngayon gold and silver pero tumataas na rin ng onti usually when we buy jewelry bini base namin sa gold value and not the design. Si hubby kasi mahilig sa ganyan pero pag sa store mo bibinlhin at brand new kung ano price nila talaga hindi masyado nag babago.

Sis sa bloomberg channel o kaya bloomberg na app nasa commodities section, minerals and metals siya and nasa usd ang rate  gold spot usd per ounce siya sis, so to compute usd price per ounce divide by 28 to compute for price per gram... tapos multiply to current peso exchange rate to get the price of gold per gram in philippine pesos...o kaya search mo sa internet price of gold tapos date... Para din stocks yan. Oh this is for 24k gold so sa jewelries it is lower kasi diba nga 14k-22k sila madalas.

And yes meron din yung sa BSP, yung ni-post mo, tama din yun para ma check kung magkano mabebenta ang gold
