It was my first time last night to buy a set of 14k white gold ring and earrings with ruby gem. Napressure ako sa officemates ko to buy it kasi ok naman daw yung amount. The set is brand new. I bought the set for 30k. Paglabas ko office out of curiousity I passed by a not so famous pawnshop to have them appraised. I was offered 15k if isasanla ko sya.  Ganun ba talaga yun? 50% off the price pag sanla? or should I go to known pawnshops like Cebuanna or MLhuillier?

Wala pa ko plan magsanla, I just want to know if ok yung decision to buy it in case mangailangan ako for emergency and the future. I initially bought the set kasi nga wala pa ko jewelry for my personal use.  I have also read in this thread na cheaper bumili abroad. Parang gusto ko na tuloy magpabili sa fiancé ko seaman based in Abu Dhabi

^ yeah. normally pa nga 1/3 ng real value un ibibigay nila plus super huge interest. kaya better to buy jewelry abroad where it's cheaper.

Just an update. Nagsanla ako last week sa Cebuanna kasi emergency. Appraise ng ring ko is 6,000 for a 5.5gram 14k white gold with a small ruby stone, Tapos today I went to another branch kasi curious ako how much yung earrings ko na kasama sa set ng ring ko. Ang sabi sakin ng kahera ndi daw masasanla kasi sobrang baba ng value. I didnt argue with them pero naintriga ako kaya I went to Palawan awnshop to check. Ang sagot sakin ng Palawan 12karat lang daw earrings ko tapos 4gram yung white gold nya 4k yung binigay sakin appraisal amount. I went to mlhuillier tapos yung staff unsure kung 12k or 14k yung earrings ko.

I am so confused now. Iba iba ba talaga level of skills ng mga pawnshop saka di ko gets bakit yung Cebuana Farmers tinangap yung ring ko pero yung Cebuana Murphy sabi super baba ng value ng earrings ko.

San ba maganda magpa-appraise talaga? im so bothered. kung maliit lang value ng first jewelry set ko, parang nagsisisi na ko that i bought it for 30k

there are two possible answers: either niloko ka nung nagbenta sa iyo or niloloko ka ng pawnshop so they can get the jewelry at a low price and sell it higher.

Kung yellow gold ang jewelry mo, Google mo ang karat value ng gold mo. Match your jewelry with the color online. You can also test it yourself, just buy a gold test kit.

@heaven_charm - Sis san mo binili yung jewelry set mo? Kung sa office mo binili dun sa mga alahera or officemates at kung installment, chances are, anlaki ng patong nila. Ako kasi nung nagbebebenta ng jewelry sa office, ang price depende sa number of months. If you go to pawnshops, hindi nila sinasama sa appraisal ang bato kahit diamond pa yan. Puro gold lang ang ina-appraise nila. Anong klaseng gold daw yung binili mo e.g. Italian, Saudi, Chinese?

I bought this from my officemate. 5 months to pay. if i pay it cash less 3k the amount so 32k nalang. but i chose to buy it in installment kasi wala ako 32k cash on hand. i don't think naman niloko ako kasi halos lahat ng big bosses buy from her. she advised me to have it appraised sa villarica kasi yun daw ang okay mag-appraise.

yung earrings ko white gold (im not sure saan country galing) weighing 4grams excluding the gems and briliantitos. I am not sure how much is this supposed to be if 14karat

^ you should have gone to a jewelry shop and that is where you should sell your jewelry. pag sa pawnshop, inconsistent talaga and they will offer you a really small amount lang plus the gems and diamonds will not be taken into consideration.

Sis,  Ang 14k white gold( Italy) pag buy ka sa jewelry store is worth 1800 as of now per gram. Pero pag magbebenta ka nasa 500+ Lang price. ganoon talaga kasi consider unwanted or damage jewelry na yun sa Kanila. Kung gustoo Mataas din yum price need sa consumer mo din ibenta huwag sa store.

Another update. niloko nga lang talaga ako ng cebuana,mlhuillier at palawan. yung earrings q na NO VALUE or 4k lang pag sinanla sa kanila eh hindi totoo. dinala ko siya sa villarica para isanla. 10k yung binigay sakin appraise. tapos tinubos q yung ring ko sa cebuana na 6k lang appraise. nun pinacheck ko sa villarica ask ko sila magkano pag sinanla, the amount is 14k. grabe pala talaga ibang mga pawnshop. buti nalang nagtanong ako sa officemate ko na alahera saan maganda magsanla. mahirap din pala talaga kahit sikat na pawnshop nanloloko. first time ko kasi magsanla eh :-D

Im not into this kind of investment aside from im not used into wearing golds.. Recently, a friend of mine is convincing me to buy some jewelries.. For 22k bracelet, 8grams, okay na kaya yung price na almost 25k?  Si hubby namn haap gold bars.. Any idea about gold bars din?

Hindi siya investment kagaya ng lupa na tumataas talaga ang value after some time. Pero pwede siya for emergency purposes.

It's always good to have an assortment of investments - mutual funds, real estate, jewelry, etc... it just depends on your short and long term goals. Jewelry, IMO, is good for long-term and "pamana" purposes. It will get more and more expensive to buy these rocks and metals in the future, so if one invested in jewelry before, the older generations can help the younger ones in the future by resetting old stones/settings into new ones.

Yellow gold lang ang maganda if for investment. Yun mga white and rose gold, nawawala sa uso.

@heaven_charm check the stamp on your pieces if its stamped as 14k or 12k. that'll give you piece of mind na you know what you purchased is 14k or not. yung higher karats may have numbers instead so just google their equivalent in gold and you'll know how much gold it is.


it's good to invest if you know what you're investing in. while true white, yellow or rose gold is still gold there's value in those.  even with gold filled ones or  plated may konting gold din sa pieces na yun but ofcourse not much, mas marami gold sa gold filled ata vs the plated. but for good investment pieces  its best to invest on the karats. 14k won't give out much, that's just 40-50% (less) of scrap gold that jewelrs will get or sa pawnshop pag minelt or refine yung piece.  18-24k is ideal or baht/bhat have higher value ofcourse. sabi rin if you plan on selling your gold, some stores or pawnshops won't know a good gem from a bad one  unless trained talaga sila or you have the certificate to show. so might as well keep nalang daw the stone, kasi habol lang nila ang gold contents yun lang nga pag sinangla it'll be lower.

ingat rin if you take in your diamond rings for appraisal. if jewelers take it out of your sight, kahit under the counter top lang they could be doing a quick switcheroo and replace your diamonds. i saw one show noon how pawnshops do it. so sabi have a map of your diamond(s) yung cut etc. i don't know lang san meron na trusted who can do this or maybe where you buy your diamonds can provide this i don't know if taking a close up picture works or magnifying them and note the markings.

marami horror stories ako nabasa and napanood na their diamonds/stones have been replaced especially during ring resizing and  their so-called heirloom pieces have been degraded to garbage pieces after the discovery. it's sad kasi pinagka-ingat ingatan nila only to find out na wala na pala value yung diamond jewelry nila.

considered as an asset din naman daw ang jewelry pero kung bibili ka ng madami then ang goal mo lang is to make a profit/gain out of it, parang hindi ata ganun kalaki yung makukuha mo unless talagang malaki yung value (diamond, 18k, etc).

me and hubby are planning to start our jewelry collection/investment or whatever they call it. ang main goal namin for doing so is for our 2 girls. hopefully hindi mawala and mapamana namin sa kanila

it's good to buy from someone's private collection din vs sa store, if you know someone who wants to get rid of some pieces or basta sulit yung pagbibilhan at a low or reasonable price. timing din kasi earlier a visiting friend spoke about the fine jewelry he bought  few years ago from  someone we know.  the owner wanted to get rid of them and did'nt really care much. there was even a 6 carat diamond ring na the friend regretted not getting.  the price he got for all of it was really good halos now  the value of all the jewelry, which his wife now owns, has quadrupled. he's been gifting her a piece every valentines, he said he has a few more left to give to her.

Addict ako ngayon sa alahas..onti onti ko ng hiningi alahas ng mama ko makakapal at stones pa..onti onti rin ako bumibili sa pawnshop,ongpin,online seller na taga saudi at sa sm dept store nag lay away ako..para bang di ako makuntento!pag sa bahay ako nak alahas ako pero di naman mala april boy heheh tamang pangontra kulam at usog!
