Sa pawnshop ako bumibili ng mga jewelries at dati dun sa 3rd floor sa Virramall. Ang dami ko rin nabili sa pawnshop kasi parang na-addict ako pagsubasta  pero ngayon mas type ko na yung fancy/fashion jewelries na parang tunay at wholesale nga lang ako bumili para mas mura.

I'd rather have hand-made jewelry whenever possible. I buy jewelry because I like it.

I prefer silver due to the high cost of gold. Plus, there's more flexibility with styles and you can always have it plated in gold if you want to.

I just looooove my custom cut gemstones but designing jewelry from scratch with them in mind is very difficult 

A word of advice to anybody thinking of buying Tanzanites for a ring or bracelet - don't! they are not suitable for rings because they abrade easily. Over time, your Tanzanite won't look as nice as it was when you bought it. And we don't have local gem cutters here who can retouch your gem.

^ RB, Mayfair or Twin Sisters in Ongpin and another chinese jeweler na supplier namin. Me and my cousin sell jewelry sa office. We get it at lower price kasi maramihan. Ang usual style ngayon inspired by Tiffany, LV, Hermes, Charriol and Cartier. Puro imported from Italy or Hongkong. Really nice styles and the gold used are of high-quality. May ibang white gold kasi na hindi ok ang pagkagawa and for some reason nagiging yellow gold ang kulay pagtagal.

Sa may nueva St. Kakapos sa binondo church and shoppers mart may nagbebenta din ng tunny na jewelry.

It's just sad na marami tayong gold na naproproduce but wala tayong jewelry na Philippine gold ang nakalagay.

It's not logical to know kung saan galing ang gold. time-consuming at mahal mag-pa-certify at i-monitor kung saan nanggagaling ang gold ng jewelry mo.

kung gusto mo na masabi na made in the Philippines, mag-pagawa ka sa goldsmith dito sa Pilipinas.

^you know, those country-labeled gold are basically same gold that we are producing and selling in the market.

for your information na lang para sa iba, saudi gold is just like any other 22k or 24k gold. the only difference is the place of origin. you see nagrereflect din sa climate or industry ng isang bansa ang make ng gold. pero iisa lang yan pag ni-refine. umiiba ang density ng ginto kada kilatis.

and please be aware that eletro-plated gold arent real gold. coated lang yung labas nun, but yung talagang kaha (layman's term) its either made of silver or copper. some are using paladium which by the way you should be wary of. check the jewelries, may tatak na nakalagay dun kung 18k gp (plated) or 18k 750 (real gold)

When you buy sa Ongpin, be wary of stores na malapit dun sa side na ng Sta. Cruz Church. Madami dun na sasabihin eh yung gold commercial at meron ding standard. Yung commercial di yun tunay na ginto kundi gold plated lang. Kailangan alam mo yung terms na ginagamit nila. When we buy jewelry madami kaming nakikita na pumapasok sa mga stores na ganun at naloloko kasi mura at maganda naman ang styles. Most common victims are couples looking for wedding rings.

I agree with Elle. If you're thinking of buying jewelry as an investment, arm yourself with information. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Kung ayaw kang sagutin or hindi straight answers ang binibigay or hindi ka sigurado sa item, walk away. Wala namang mawawala sayo kung hindi ka bibili agad. Take the time to shop around.

I had a lot of potential customers turn away when they found out the cost even for a pair of plain gold wedding rings. They wanted solid gold rings pero they are not willing to pay the price 

Gold-plated (peferably over silver), gold-filled or vermeil jewelry are fine naman if you're on a budget but like the look of gold.

My sentiment is sana meron din tayong local jeweller na makakagawa ng world class na gold jewelries kasi it would be cheaper and can also create jobs. Wala kasi tayo masyadong down stream industry for the metals we produce.

Gold jewelries (22K and below) in the market are alloyed to retain a shape specially sa mga rings since pure gold is too soft. Yung palladium isa yun sa ina-alloy pag gusto mo ng white gold.

Ngayon pa lang ako nag start mag collect ng jewelries na ako mismo bumili para sa sarili ko.  Yung iba kasing jewlries ko bigay ni hubby or ni mama.

Ang pinagawa ko ngayon earrings and necklace sa bulacan ako nagpapagawa next week makukuha ko na:)  Kung san kami nagpagawa last year ng wedding ring namin.  Mas ok kasi direct sa pagawaan at may ari ang kausap namin kaya nakakamura kami.  Malaki din kasi difference kung sa mall ka bibili.

Eto naisip kong pag ipunan aside sa stocks dahil una tumataas ang value ng gold, pangalawa magagamit ko pa and pangatlo mapapamana ko sa anak ko.  Ganun siguro kapag nagkafamily na iniisip mo Yung future value ng binibili mo

I think you mean jewelry designers. Sila ang nagde-design ng jewelry. Some of these people's works parang work of of art na rin. I'm not sure kung meron tayong mga pinoy jewelry designers who make their own unique designs whether by their own hands or with the help of an experienced goldsmith.

You  have to keep in mind that this type of art is expensive. Hindi ka basta basta makakabili ng materials sa tindahan. To make a simple ring na walang gemstones in 14K gold and above ay mahal na, paano pa kaya kung tadtad ng gems or custom, precision cut gemstones are used?

A majority of the jewelry sold sa mga jewelry shops (whether locally or abroad) almost all look the same or use the same techniques kasi this is the what they can actually produce in large enough quantities. Custom jewelry designs made especially for you and only you are even more expensive. You have to pay for the designer to design a truly unique, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry then you need to pay a goldsmith to make that jewelry for you.

One word of advice for anyone wants to have jewelry made by hand, whether it's a custom design or not. Be generous, fair and kind

Be prepared to pay more for such a job than you would on a ready-made piece from the same guy. Also, a local goldsmith will charge significantly more than a dot.com using a Chinese goldsmith factory. If you want the extra service you have to pay for it.

I understand that some people want to buy stuff cheaply, but remember that goldsmiths and jewelry designers have bills to pay too and their inventory of precious metals and gems is not exactly cheap.

^if you're going to buy 24k gold, might as well buy a gold bar. 24k is too soft for jewelry. 22k is less softer than 24k, fine to use with earrings or pendants but I won't advice for rings and bracelet since it can still be easily bent.

18k is the sweet spot for gold jewelry. A nice yellow color but strong enough for everyday use. Why do you think a lot of rings are made in 18k gold? 

14k is fine and is certainly sturdier but for yellow gold, the color is considerably lighter than 18k

What I meant by cheaper is the raw material kasi dito na rin bibilhin so minimal na ang shipping cost at meron din nagproproduce ng copper and silver. Alam ko lang ang nagmimine and refine ng mga gold but I don't have idea if may market ba ng gold bullion sa Pinas.
I'm not into jewelries din kasi, if one day I'll be investing in gold I will opt to buy bars, coins or bullion. 

Tumataas talaga yung price ng gold kasi nagdedepreciate na  yung source and gold is very important din sa electronics kaya kahit di na tayo mag-aalahas (which is unlikely) may demand pa rin. Very attractive investment for me kaya lang takot si hubby na mawala or manakaw. But in the future pag naconvince ko na asawa ko I will invest na rin, sana makahanap ako ng locally made gold bar/coins sa Pinas.

^as far as I know, you can buy gold bars/bullion from Bangko Sentral. There are other sellers but I forget who.

electronics uses gold nga pero the amount used per circuit board is minimal as far as I know. If they use too much, I think mahahalata mo na sa presyo 

While gold bullion is nice as an investment, I don't like it. In my opinion, as gold prices climb higher, it will reach a point where there is nobody willing to buy gold due to the cost. Then the price slides and you may not be able to recover what you spent. It will still have value, but it may not be as much as it was before at least until prices start to climb again

This is just my speculation ha?
