Just encountered police harrasment for 9 hours at Carmona Police Station last Jan 2, 2010.

These policemen should not be tolerated at all:

^ what had happened?

me and my friends got harassed also in a station na malapit dyan. it was 2 years ago. we were accused of stealing a laptop computer.

what had happened was we bought a 2nd hand computer, didnt know that it was stolen. pag uwi namin sa bahay, we discovered some hidden files. we tracked the people mention on those files. pinagusapan naming isosoli yung laptop, when we got to the mall, hinablot kami ng mga pulis. to think isosoli namin yung laptop ng walang kapalit and yung babaeng mayari ang naginitiate na babayaran kami.

hindi maganda yung pagkakaaresto sa amin and may mga nakavideo pa noon. daming verbal abuse din inabot namin sa mga pulis when we arrived sa station.

we found out, clerk pala sa isang regional trial court yung babae and there were cohorts of attorneys waiting with us also. first they tried to accuse us of stealing, then nung hindi nila maprove, they accused us naman of buying stolen items.. after a debate in which hindi naman nila masagot.. they tried coercion and detention as a scare tactic. it went on for 6 hours until i got fed up and used my connection as well.

after just 1 phone call from my connection to their rude and concieted chief investigator, the policemen proposed for a settlement. if we wont escalate the issue and press charges, they would just drop the case also. isoli lang daw yung laptop. then umepal pa yung arroganteng attorney. they talked inside the office and after that yun din yung proposal ng corrupted attorney.

dahil ayaw na namin ng aberya, we opted for the settlement. i cant believe how shitty the system on that place.

KIKAYGIMIKERA -- it was sooo obviously a cheapo set-up.  IF you had to avoid some objects, and you "hit" a Mr. Pilapil -- whose father that Sgt Pilapil,  happens to conveniently be part of the nearest police station.... hay buhay!

Smacks of Nick Cage in that movie "BAD Lieutenant".  Soo familiar, so common place here in the Phils. di ba?

Thanks for sharing.  Now, what did we learn from this unfortunate incident?
1st have Comprehensive Vehicle Coverage with that towing feature.
2nd -- agahan ang pagsindak.
Kikaygimikera -- yes, I understand why you hesitated till after 9 hours to call on a family friend... inisip mo it  can all be arranged amicably with your insurance coverage, etc.  BUT tignan mo ang pagka kapalmuks nang ibang police ha --  kelangan tapatan!

Wala kasing effective (oh sure, they have one, but whistle the entire night/week wala pa rin mangyari) -- police regulating body that will suspend policement based on documented complaints.  There is nobody to run to. Kaya nga ayan we get horrible events like the Ampatuan-instigated massacre.

I posted it in my blog:

We bumped a car infront of us. They suddenly stopped dahil merong pails na nakaharang sa daan. Everythings okay with me and the owner of the car.

Sabi ko, everythings taken care of. Ayaw pumayag ipa tow ang kotse namin. Hello? THE POLICE even agreed to it. Nag exchange numbers sila.

We told them already if theres somethings wrong and they needed something from us, they can call Gen. Versoza. and if they needed money, they can call my the Office of the vice commander of AFP.

Wow. wala silang pakialam. Nagalit nako. Nainis. Pinagmumura ko sila. 9 hours maayos akong nakipagusap.

aquacharly - yes i know. stupid me, kasi isa sa mga new years resolution ko is to be nice. I am partly BAD in terms of using words. Taklesa ako sa ibang mga tao.

That time Ive kept my mouth shut. I did not use my dad nung una. pero di sila natinag. As always, you wouldnt really think i am a generals daughter. I do not act like one. Even my dad does not look like one.

When I received a text from my dad regarding the bump sa car niya. He thought minor lang naman ang damage. So he just said "you started the new year in the wrong foot... (something like that.) ... okay, take care."

He meant i should take care of it.

Pero when the policemen asked for money. I asked for my moms help. Since my mom HATES police eversince... and she knows everything (shes the agent of the car insurance!), sabi niya walang dapat ilabas na pera.

Makapal ang mukha. My mom was the one to give the the go signal to call Gen. Versoza. Why not my dad? My dad is not like the other officers. Problema mo, kargo mo. Ganun kasi siya.

Haaay, alam mo goodthing Gen. Versoza is very nice. Takot yung mga police. Sabi ko sa kanilang lahat, I will make sure na di matatapos ang January, tanggal silang lahat.

KIKAYGIMIKERA -- I disagree with you... yang sabihin mo stupid ka kasi nakipag usap ka nang mahusay for the 1st 9 hours.  I admire you on that for your tolerance, and trying to make a change with this corrupt set-up we have all over the country.

I admire your dad more, that he will say -- take care of it.
Technically, nasa lugar ka talaga and you should not have spent even half an hour on that minor accident.  Complete your insurance docs .. andoon naman whoever was driving had a valid license... SOP is to just take the photos (everyone can with cellphones and very portable cameras)  and exchange info on both parties' license and insurance details.  It is, as your mom indicated, up to your insurance company to handle the settlement of whatever has to be settled.

I  will try to follow your good example.
Yeah, I am notorious for my tiny cache of patience.  Either tutukan ko ng baril (which is very very very bad I know kaya grounded ako to-date from self-driving)  or  tapalan ko ng calling card nang kung sino, or have a lawyer counter-harass them.

KIKAYGIMIKERA -- hwag mong bitiwan the complaint you filed ha.  Few people are in a position like yours... that you cannot be handed cr@p nor threatened to drop your complaint.  Police people like those should have their karma fed-exed to them.

Please keep us posted.
And relate the steps as you go along, so that others with no connection/s may know the proper way to go about handling complaints vs policemen.

God bless!

Thanks. So far, I have forwarded it to the chief PNP but then since its not the legal way and my parents still wanted the legal way as well, I am going to their Internal Affairs today to file a formal complaint.

I still have a hard time sleeping because of what they did.

Hindi ko talaga sila titigilan. The damage that was done to their car can be resolved by money. Pwedeng ipa-ayos. The damage they did to me, hindi nareresolve lang ng pera.

i don't know if you can call this police harassment. kasi sa case namin, bawal na maka park ang mga big trucks sa labas ng bahay namin dahil one time, na sira bakuran namin dahil umatras [textspeak!] truck at umalis agad. so pina blotter namin sa police at linagyan na nila ng no u turn, parking, and by standers allowed. so one time nag park naman ulit mga truck sa labas tas mismo sa harap ng bahay naman dun nag iinuman ang mga drivers. so tumawag kami ng police. gusto sana namin na paalisin lang nila kasi nag warning na kami, hindi kami pinansin. so [textspeak!] police pinipilit kami mag reklamo sa abs-cbn para ma tigil na daw. ayaw naman namin mag reklamo kasi takot kami na pagiinitan kami ng mga drivers at kung ano pang masamang gawin. pwede ba mga sis tumanggi sa gusto ng pulis?

When my mon had an car accident, she was alone driving the car.
There was the sign of stop at the cross road but because there was a vending machine on the corner,
she couldn't see whether another car is coming or not so she went forward slowly.
But unfortunately, another car was just came and she was hits by it.
When the police man came, she explained what happened, but he just said "ok, you didn't stop".
Well, she stopped. But if she keep stop there forever, she can't check if the car is coming or not.
But he never listened with arrogant attitude and he completely looked her down.
And then she called my dad. My dad was a government official, and once the police man recognized it,
he turned his attitude.
