Folic acid is safe to take everyday even if you are not trying to have a baby. For those paranoid about it vegetables like brocolli is another good source of folic. For pregnant women it is taken para hindi maging abnormal ang baby. Thats why increased ang dosage if you are pregnant. Also it does not make your baby smarter. You want smart kids. Take DHA because it helps in brain developement of the baby. Source of DHA is salmon or tuna. But with mercury poisoning better buy supplements. All our supplements we bought from US. Except our folic which we bought at Healthy Option kasi cheaper than Mercury.

How about yung generic na folic acid? I hope wala namang masama or sobrang liit lang ang benefit nito. Otherwise, I'll just buy the branded ones para full benefit.

I think when it comes to supplement get the branded one nalang. After all your health is not cheap naman diba. 😉

Kaso ako 5mg iniinom which is equivalent to 5000mcg. I'm confuse :-)

Hi mga sis, I have another question... I asked my OB about this pero hindi malinaw yung sagot nya. I do not take folic acid regularly, but when I do, I bleed earlier than my schedule. Like 5 days early. I was alarmed kase I read somewhere that some women with similar cases are advised not to take folic acid. Hiyangan rin yata ang folic? Meron na bang naka-experience nito?

I thought folic acid is pampadami ng dugo.  ;D I was diagnosed before na low yung hemoglobin ko and anemic ako at ito yung pinainom sakin. Tinake ko sya before 3x a day for 3 mos last year. Iberet folic 500mg. This year gusto ko sana ulit uminom kaso parang naiimpatso, naninigas tyan ko pag iniinom ko na sya. Sumama yung pakiramdam ko. Bakit kaya ganun? Dati naman wala namang side effects. Now Im looking for an alternative brand.

^baka Iron sis ang sinasabi mo? meron din kasing Iberet with Iron. I was advised to take it a month before I gave birth. But during my 1st and 2nd term, plain na Iberet lang ang pina-take sa akin.

we're ttc, and at first i took the prenatal vits of healthy options. this included 800mcg of folic acid among other vitamins. i got huge headaches the 3 days i took this, so i stopped na. i just got the solgar folic acid 800 mcg from healthy options pa rin. P400+ closer to P500, i can't remember the exact amount. that's for 100 tablets.

I started taking folic acid (Folart brand) last April. Pinapag-take ko din si hubby since may nabasa kaming article na it can also help synthesize DNA. Since sperm contains DNA too, it's also recommended to take folic acid to avoid abnormal fertilization. :)
