Thank you so much for your concern! We're doing our best with the resources we have to manage the situation... and we really couldn't do it without your reports and suggestions.
First off, we've already lifted the general IP ban since it's not effective anyway. Those who were affected should now be able to access the site. If you still can't, please email
webmaster@femalenetwork.com (I realize if they're still banned, they won't be able to read this, so if any of you know other members who have this problem, please relay the message. Thanks).
Second, we've considered all your suggestions and have decided that the best course is to disable all new registration. We've also implemented a post approval on newbies, but that obviously didn't work before, so we're going back to our system to fix that.
Third, I'd still like to appeal to the members to refrain from trumpeting this guy's name all over the forums, but I acknowledge that Mr. Punch is right--if this is the "people power" way of getting back at him, then we'll let it go for now. I'm not sure if the tit-for-tat way of getting back at him kept him at bay or inflamed him even more, but it sure showed that GIRL/GUYTalkers wouldn't take his abuse lying down!
To all who have noted that this is worse for the forums than for the members, thanks for pointing it out--we realize this, of course, and we humbly apologize if you feel that we've been taking our readers and members for granted. Thanks too to anetski for understanding that it takes a bit more time for a larger organization to take action than a smaller one (or an individual, or group of individuals)--we do our best to get past these limitations. This is coming from me as an individual, but the official view is certainly the same: Female Network and GIRLTalk would be nothing without its readers and members, and we exist only for you guys after all. It's sappy, but it's Christmas, so there.
We have his info and we'll see what we can do to keep him from wreaking havoc on the forums again... any other info or history (say, of his previous incarnations in other forums) are welcome. Again, just keep all the paglalantad in an orderly manner (sis kutingpie, go pa rin si Mike Enriquez, pero hinay hinay lang, hehe). Let's not let this turn into a lynching mob. Thanks again to all those who have coordinated directly with the FN Admin account to provide info and suggestions.
We'll issue a formal announcement soon about the whole hullabaloo. I hope freezing registration will contain this. But if it doesn't... please send us a report ASAP!
Whew! OK, andami ko nang sinabi. One last: I commend all the GTalkers for their quick action and excellent detective work (lalo na si sis BJN). Am proud of the community for sticking up for one another.
