Sabi sa akin nung taga SSS importante raw yung last 5 years na contribution mo bago ka magretire at yung friend ng mom ko na nagtrabaho nung 20 years old sya at nagstop na magwork nung 40 years old sya at nung 60 sya maliit lang  ang monthly pension nya (2K) compared sa nagretire at up to 60 na nagcocontribute sa SSS.

I have 90 months contribution already with SSS as of Dec 2009 as voluntary so I plan to pay the remaining 30 months para me makuha naman akong money. Before, ang hinuhulog ko ay P1560 kasi yun ang hinuhulog ng company ko dati but when I asked yesterday kung pede ko itong babaan, they said up 2 brackets lower lang daw sabi ng staff ng SSS. I told her na pano kung wala talaga akong maihuhulog pero gusto ko talaga ay continuous ang payment ko. She said try ko daw maghulog P1040 monthly. But after reading this thread, I realized I should only pay kahit P572 nalang. When I checked online how much I will get sa maternity benefit ko since nanganak ako last May, P15+ lang pala. Eh sa una ko when I was working with my previous company, I got P30K. I only started as a Voluntary member last July 2008, and from July 2008-September 2009, 1560/month and hinulog ko, mas malaki pa sa makukuha ko. October-Dec 2009 P1040 per month nalang. So starting this month, I'll check if I can pay P572/month since sa SM naman ako nagbayad kahapon for my 3 months contribution. So its not worth it for me. I'll just get my money after 3 years since malapit na rin naman. And I'll try to invest the money na para sa SSS sa ibang means nalang dahil based on my computation dahil 30 yrs old ako ngayon at kung 1560/month ang ihuhulog ko P1560x360 contributions or equivalent to 30 yrs before I can retire and get my pension=P561,600.

you can just pay for a minimum of 10 years. pag 20 years, 2 times ng makukuha mo daw compared kung ilang taon ka nagbayad sabi ng mommy ko..

Reading this thread made me remember that.

Kindly clarify . thanks!

Hi Chardonnay,

I don't know about Self-employed pero ako I filed as Voluntary kasi galing ako from an employer. So depende na lang sa budget mo how much you are willing to pay.

^ Oo nga sis. Parang hihingi pa ng proof of income tapos early retirement pa is 65yo. Though it's really a must to declare yourself as self employed if u really are.

Employed pa naman ako kaso I am thinking of putting my own business later. Kaso pag voluntary ka na pala you have to shoulder the whole P1560 maximum contribution unlike when we are employed, we only pay P500 and the rest is shouldered by the employer. So medyo nag iisip ako kung itutuloy ko sya later or i lump sum ko na lang.

Another issue is, the computation of your monthly pension is based on your average monthly salary and no. of payments. (as per their site) What will be the salary basis for voluntary contributors? Lugi naman yata tayo sa currently employed by that time who can produce a payslip showing their high income.

Tapos me issue pa na it's the last 5 years of payment that will be crucial in the computation.

I've been unemployed for almost 2 years na, stay-at-home wife ako. This thread made me realize that I should continue paying my contributions. Dapat may sarili akong pensyon. :D

May I sample pa ako kung magkano makukuha ko in case I would file that  ;D. P30k din yung lumabas. Tapos I also tried my would be monthly pension using their given computation, I ended getting P16k+ (sana lang tama ang computation ko hehe) ...at sana lang me value pa yan sa year 2030+ pag retire ko.  :o

I might just follow what one of our sisses has told. I lump sum ang 1st 10 years of contri. Might use in business then kuha ng life insurance as back up.

Tutal kung crucial ang last 5 years, pede pa humabol. Or try maghulog ulit after ng lump sum. Actually, I was not paying my SSS when I learned that I was pregnant. Una kong ginawa, habulin ang pede kong mahabol. I forwarded my Mat-1 and Mat-2 last Dec 22. Ang sabi sakin, iff up ko daw after 1 month. So I may drop by next week to see kung me computation na sila o kung ano na status ng documents ko. I gave birth May. August 2007 last contri ng company ko. Ang nahabol kong bayaran simula July 2008 hanggang ngayon. I am curious to know how much I will be getting. Pero based sa online computation P15K+. Sana tumaas pa, kahit konti lang.. :D

Hi Chardonnay,
Di me sure pero ang nilagay ko kasi ay kung kelan ako nabuntis, I mean di ba kinocompute ni doctor 1st day ng mens mo to know kung kelan due date mo, So yung info na yun ang nilagay ko. Tapos yun ang lumabas na value. Yung pag claim ng benefit, sabi sa SSS basta in less than 10 years dapat mafile. Yung pag file ng MAT-2, yun ang pede magfile ka in less than 10 yrs from the time na nanganak ka. Kasi  yun ang reimbursement na :D

YES, worth it.

I went to the SSS office in our province to update my status and my goodness! The line was so long! Judging from the line, it would take a whole day just to change my status from self-employed to voluntary. I was thinking, why get into this bureaucracy when I can just have a separate savings account? After all, the returns will be just as good as having a savings account and BPI even has this life insurance thingy when you have a savings account with them.

Sis souz, tama ka yata to say that SSS is better for those who are employed.

I wonder, kung may contributions ka before, like for 10 months, puwede kayang kunin yun? Kasi sayang din yung binayad mo for those months, di ba?

sis, you don't have to line up to SSS in order to change your status.all you have to do is go any SM accredited SSS station, fill up the RS5 form, tick the voluntary member box and pay up your contribution.by doing that, the system automatically recognizes the change in your status

Aleng maganda,

Just ask your husband to go to any SSS office and inquire. Dala lang siya any proof of identification. If employed siya, I think his company should have the information regarding his SSS number since sila naman ang nagbabayad for his SSS.

By the way, I just checked online and saw that my pending SSS maternity reimbursement has been processed- Delivery Date: (Date) already settled.

After 3 years, i lump sum ko na.

I just want to update you guys. Just got my check from SSS yesterday. I got the maximum (P30K)  ;D ;D. Salamat po!! So kahit 10 months akong di nakapaghulog, yung over-all contribution ko ata ang pinagbasehan nila since mataas naman ang hulog ng company ko dati. Yun lang! Atleast me budget na for baby's 1st birthday.. ;D ;D
