Its not in number of years.  You have to complete 120 contributions.  That's basically 10 years.

Thanks for opening a thread like this. I am a consultant, so wala akong SSS. Iniisip ko rin if it's worth it to continue my contribution. Paano ba maghulog sa SSS? as in punta ka lang sa office? Meron ba sa mga payment center? like SM?

I'm also a consultant.  Contractual in other words.  I also don't intend to pay for my SSS until I was assigned there.  Dun ako naeducate ng mga benefits na makukuha ko in the future.  So I continued paying for it.  Based on their kwentos, payment sa banks, bayad center would often take three months bago mapost sa system nila.  Pero pag sa banko nila, napopost agad.

I also pay sa SM bayad centers.  Pero in order for them to accept your payment, they will ask how much your monthly contribution is.  Pag hindi tama yung amount na binigay mo, they won't let you pay your SSS.  Dapat exact amount ng contribution mo.

^magkano sis ang binabayad mo? do you compute it base on your monthly earnings? or we can just pay any amount we like? say, 500 a month? how do we compute ba?

Siguro nakaka 5 years na ako, so 5 years nalang sure na may retirement benefit na ako?  Thanks

^As I recall, you can only receive pension when you reach a certain age, not sure if 60 or 65.  And aside from that, one must be able to complete 120 contributions.

^my mom started working when she was only 19-20. 46 na siya now. an attorney friend of her advised her to take out the 10years worth of her contribution. pwede daw yun, kasi nga 120 contribution lang naman ang kelangan to be able to avail the retirement benefits. tutal naman daw, by the time u reach 65, eh makakailang contribution ka na ulit, tapos by that time e mas mababa na ang worth nung money mo. kaya tinakeout ng mom ko yung contribution niya, tapos inivest niya sa jewelry.

^That's nice.  So meaning, one does not need to be 60 or 65 years old to avail the SSS retirement benefits.  Hmmmm.. ask ko nga friend ko who works there.

^not the retirement benefits sis. yung contribution niya mismo ang tinake out niya. then ipon ulit siya (may 10years worth remaining pa) for her retirement.

^Ahh.  So tama pala yung sinabi sa akin dati na the individual must be of age 60 ata or 65 to be able to benefit from SSS retirement.  But what your mom did is ok din sis.  Malaki laki rin yung 120 contributions.

^yup, kelangan senior age. hehe.

so, after niyang makuha yung 120 contributions, she started again paying the monthly premium para makabuo ulit ng required 120 contr. until she reach her retirement age?

Marami pala tayong maraming tanong regarding SSS.

I'll take into account what sis angeleigh told us.

Its just that, I was assigned lang sa Main Office nila sa east ave for awhile kaya medyo may naishare lang sa akin yung mga tao doon.  :)

Regarding payments naman, you can't pay for previous months.  Pero pag within the quarter pwede pa.  Every 10th of the 4th month yung payment.

For instance, deadline for month's October, November and December is January 10.  April 10 naman pag payments for January, February and March.  And so on.

Yung voluntary as against self - employed, namention din sa akin na same lang ang dalawa in terms of benefits and amount of payments.  Pero sa classification lang nagkaiba.  Voluntary is those who ceased to be employed or non working spouses.  Self - employed naman is someone who is managing own business.

Yes sis 60 for employed and voluntary members.
65 for self-employed members.

So for those who does not have an employer, you must opt to choose voluntary membership para mas early ang pag claim ng retirement benefits.

IMO, its worth it to have an SSS contribution.  Although the amount you'd get from maternity benefits, retirement, burial (for the family) and all the other benefits is not really big but definitely it is a big help especially in times of need.  Monthly contribution is not so big din naman eh at least somehow you have something to look forward to.  :)

hello!

thanks in advance..

^ok lang sis kung ikaw magbabayad ng loan niya...try mo kung me condonation silang offer ngayon, i don't know lang kung less lang yung interest or waived yung interest.

No requirements naman kung itutuloy mo as voluntary member yung husband mo, just fill up the RS 5 para mabayaran yung premium.  That's what I did nung nag-voluntary member ako.

sis, pano yung process if you want to take out your total contribution? do you have to be an active member? i think almost 8 years din yung total contribution ko but i stopped paying 2 years ago.

Am i still entitled to claim my past contributions?
