Whenever my daughter has diarrhea, we put Erceflora kagad sa water nya. Pag more than 3 times na talagang watery ang stool nya, we give her bananas.

What's erceflora? banana is also effective i believe. =)

^^

Not sure sa age na 3 for Imodium but here's what I found sa FB page nila...

MYTH 4:
If a child has diarrhea, it's best to let it run its course.

Fact:
Diarrhea in children can lead to dehydration, often more quickly than it does in adults. Treating children from ages six to eleven with IMODIUM A-D Liquid and keeping them adequately hydrated may help avoid a dangerous loss of fluid.

Safe ba ang Imodium for kids na may diarrhea? Nabasa ko kasi na "Imodium is safe and it is the only approved over-the-counter drug for treating kids with diarrhea." Yung pamangkin ko kasi lagi sumasakit ang tyan at watery yung poop nya so hint namin diarrhea yun. Lactose intolerant kasi siya eh. Please advise po. Thanks!  :)

Sa akin lang ha, kahit OTC, it's best to check with the child's pedia to check proper dosage. And Imodium might be too strong for the child. It might be better to give probiotics (again, consult with your doctor first), like Erceflora which is specific for diarrhea, or maintenance probiotics like Acidophilus. Most Asians really are lactose intolerant.

Erceflora is probiotics. It's usually prescribed to babies/kids who have diarrhea or who are vomiting to replace lost probiotics in the tummy.

Kaya as much as possible, ayoko na mag LBM sila or mag diarrhea kasi delikado yun kesa sa lagnat. I'll try to use some of the meds and remedies you suggested.

sis, if your baby looks pale and "bagsak katawan" bring her to the doctor na. baka dehydrated na siya.

even for adults immodium is not advisable. at least thats what my gastro told me before when i was hospitalized for amoebiasis. ang problem with this type of medicines, if you stop the diarrhea, chances are whatever toxins or organisms that are causing it will only get trapped longer in your gut. diarrhea is your body's way of cleansing your body. what you should do is make sure you get plenty of fluids so that you dont get dehydrated.

I mean, i have nothing against going sa doctor pero minsan kasi OA yung iba, magagamot naman sa bahay ang dami pa pinapa intake na gamot, so I prefer home remedy at first. Bago lumala at manghina si baby. Thanks sis!

^what I said is based on what the gastro told me. Siguro case to case basis. What works for one does not necessarily mean will work and will be good for the other. Some parents kasi would give Imodium and the likes as a band aid solution...without really knowing what causes the diarrhea and worse without the doctor's advice.

Oral hydration is also recommended. But yeah, Imodium is effective for my sis, but still, pag bata dapat pedia muna. Iba naman kasi sila from adults di ba. Anyway, have you heard of the Imodium Toilet Tracker? Might help kasi may list ng toilets sa buong Metro Manil, tapos may list of drug stores at tips in managing diarrhea.

^Chamomile tea is generally safe for children; it is usually used for soothing mild gastrointestinal problems.

i agree and depende rin sa utos ng pedia yan? best pa rin na makinig sa kanila. although yung imodium, i learned from their fb account (check it out here): http://bit.ly/JoM3kg i dont think its for children below 12 and for pregnant women? ulitin ko para sure si pedia pa rin ang best na tanungin jan! :)

may diarrhea ngayon toddler ko.  brat diet sya ngayon and lots of water.  if 3 days hindi pa okay si baby, punta na kami kay pedia.  i also read na okay din daw ang yogurt sa diarrhea pero ayaw nya ng lasa.

from experience, erceflora is really good for diarrhea.  no taste, you can mix it in your baby's drink.
