ok lang ba na bawasan muna yung scoop ng milk nya kapag nagkaka-diarrhea? like kung 4oz dapat kung normal 2 scoops pero dahil may diarrhea eh gawin na lang 1 scoop.

For my toddler when she gets diarrhea:

--lactose-free milk (Enfagrow LF na sya kahit on days na walang diarrhea; medyo every other month sya nagkakaroon so I switched her to LF completely)
--hold all vitamins except Zinc
--Erceflora probiotic
--BRAT (if she will eat)
--ORS (but I can't make her drink this talaga)

Napansin ko parang hindi pa kaya ng tummy nya ang ordinary bottled water kaya I boil Wilkins for her water at home (since birth ito) and give Dr Edwards when going out.

For maintenance, she drinks Dutchmill.  Ayaw ng Yakult e.  She used to take Acidophilus (probiotic).

^Sa pagkakaalam ko, kailangan ng fecalysis to determine if parasitical yung cause ng diarrhea.  Hindi ko lang alam kung ano ang pagkakaiba (amoebiasis vs diarrhea) if you will just base it on symptoms alone.

yes DV is right, you'll know through fecalysis. and not a regular fecalysis ha. the test for amoebiasis is different. it takes longer since they do pa-culturing

hi mga moms..

help naman.. si baby kasi nag diarrhea, since last sunday pa, ang kutob ko dahil yun sa sayote na pinakain ko sa kanya.. pinadoktor ko na sya at sabi baka daw di ko naluto masyado yung sayote kaya nagkaganun..

ang nireseta sa kanya eh yung erceflora twice a day, ciprobay -ciprofloxacin half nung 250 tablet twice a day at yung prozinc 1 ml dail.. 7 months palang si baby..

ang problema, 5 days na syang nag te-take ng erceflora pero ganun parin every 2 hours parin sya mag poop.. pag tulog naman umaabot ng 4 hours bago sya mapupu.. mag dugo yung pupu nya pero malilit na lang.. di naman matigas yung tyan nya.. malakas mag dede at active naman kaso minsan naiiyak sya tas ayun biglang lalabas ang pupu at makakalma na...

question: dapat na ba ko ma-alarm?? or normal lang yung ganun katagal nawala as long as di sya nilalagnat?? pwede ko ba i-continue yung erceflora hanggang sa may diarrhea sya?? ubos na kasi yung isang pack namin na pang 5 days, ok lang ba bilhan ko pa sya ng another pack??

^^sis julia, na update mo na ba yung pedia niya about it? weird naman kase naka antibiotic na siya pero mag one week na may diarrhea pa rin. anyway, ok din ipatest yung stool niya but no need to panic naman as long as your baby is hydrated parati. i think safe naman to continue the erceflora kase its just probiotics lang naman but better ask na din the pedia about it.

^ thanks sis.. sis, alin ba ang antibiotic dun?? yung ciprobay?? ayaw naman kasi nya inumin eh super sama ng lasa, i tried it myself at ayun nakakasuka talaga, ayoko naman na ipilit kasi sinusuka nya baka ma-dehydrate sya lalo, kaya ayun di sya umiinom nun... haysss...

alam mo pa, since yesterday pa kami balak bumalik ng pedia nya, kaso sa di malamang kadahilan eh di matuloy-tuloy ang check-up... tas 3 times na ko pumunta sa lab para pa-test yung stool nya pero sawi ako sis, nung una di tinanggap kasi daw dapat makuha ko pati yung liquid sa poop nya, medyo dry kasi yung dala ko, tas kagabi saka kanina close naman... baka ayaw talaga magpa-doctor ni baby, getting well naman yung poop nya medyo matigas na. :-)

^naku sis, important na napapainom at kumpletuhin mo yung antibiotics niya, yung ciprobay nga yun, kase kung hindi nagkakaroon ng resistance yung bacteria dun sa gamot at mas lalong di siya gagaling. pag naging resistant na usually mas matapang na antibiotic na yung binibigay. pag napainom mo ng gamot at sumuka within one hour pwede mo siyang painumin ulit kase malamang kasama yung gamot sa naisuka niya.

may cell phone number ka ba nung pedia niya para i-text mo siya about your concerns. ako kase makulit eh maya't maya ako nagtetext sa pedia pag may sakit si baby

^wala akong cp number ni pedia nya eh, ibabalik ko nalang sya bukas dun kay pedia para mas matignan sya.. saka para mapalitan yung gamot nya... ibang doctor kasi tumingin sa kanya nung monday kaya siguro di sya nahiyang..  thanks sis ha... sana gumaling na c baby ko.

my one year old baby had diarrhea for two weeks. nung may 24 matamlay and nagsuka so we brought him to the hospital na. i posted the story na here:

anyway, after our stay at the hospital, we continued the antibiotic for 7 days, hydrasec and enfagrow LF. kumain na din ng solid si baby so we gave him what he likes to eat. mostly lugaw and homemade noodles and veggies.

then after a week diarrhea na naman! he's teething so i presumed baka na-bacteria sa mga toys na sinusubo nya. but the difference now is, hindi sya matamlay, normal energy nya pero he's pooping more that 5 times a day!

we gave him hydrasec again and still on enfa LF. kaso kinagabihan super iyak na si baby. may rash na pala sa bumbum nya. at 4am sumisigaw sa iyak, we want to go to the ER na but i decided to put Calmoseptine ointment muna sa rash. kinaumagahan masakit parin pag wash time and watery pa rin stool. we didint use soap to wash, water lang then pahid calmoseptine everytime. nung after lunch may bahid ng blood yung poop so panic na naman ako. ready na kami to go to the hospital but then maulan, i called the pedia to have fecalysis muna. pagka-poop ni baby nilagay ko agad sa sterile na container then off to the hospital. i went there without my baby kasi hihintayin pa yung result ng fecalysis. then sa result, negative naman lahat. walang bacteria or amoebiasis daw. i talked to the pedia na ok ang result. nainis na naman ako kay doc kasi balak na naman nyang bigyan ng antibiotic kahit wala naman bacteria si baby. sabi ko continue ko na muna hydrasec and the ointment for the rash and if tomorrow meron pa, babalik nalang kami sa hospital.

kinabukasan, twice lang nag-poop si baby and medyo watery pa. but his rash is gone! (thank you calmoseptine!) sakto naman na ubos na yung enfagrow LF nya but i decided to switch back na sa regular milk nya (NAN3). after that naging paste like na ang poop ni baby. so no need to go back to the hospital.

hay, pina-panic lang ata kami netong anak ko. he's ok now. and he's gaining back the weight he lost. two weeks na diarrhea and laki ng pinayat ni baby.

^^sis julia, may i suggest na din that you get your pedia's cp na rin. para just in case you have concerns about your baby's health you can text her anytime. imo, she should be the first person you ask for advice kase she's the one who knows the history of your baby's health. ok lang naman yun! she'll tell you naman if you really need to visit her clinic na..

hi mga sis.. sa wakas, after 12 days na malambot ang poop ni baby eh finally back to normal na poop nya.. Thanks God talaga..

bakit kaya ganun, sa test ng poop ni baby eh okay naman daw, walang bacteria o kung [textspeak!] man except dun sa PUS CELLS na di ko alam kung ano pero sabi nya dapat daw 0 (zero) lang yung pus cell pero yung nakasulat sa fecalysis ni baby e (2-4).. so ayun nga, sabi nya no need to drink ng antibiotic kasi wala namang amoeba or bacteria, enough na daw yung erceflora twice a day just to flush away kung [textspeak!] man yung nakasira sa tyan ng baby ko and to put back to normal count ng pus cell nya.. tama naman sya kasi gumaling nga naman si baby ko sa pag inom lang ng erceflora..

sis lexi_girl, alam mo bang ayaw mag bigay ng cp number ni pedia, dati ko pa yung hiningi kaso sabi nya di daw sila nagbibigay ng contact numbers, kasi daw usually daw pag may problem eh punta nalang daw kagad sa hospital at yung hospital na ang bahalang kumontak sa kanila, hays, nakakainis diba?? naiinis nga ko kaso talagang binabalik balikan ko parin sya kasi nga alam na nya yung history ni baby at hiyang din naman sa kanya si baby...

reminders: mga sis, pag may diarrhea ang baby, hindi lang pala tummy nya ang dapat natin isipin, isipin din natin yung butt nya, hehe, kasi nung nag diarrhea si baby one night bigla syang nag-iiyak na sobrang iyak na halos ayaw nya tumahan, natakot ako na baka super sumakit ang tyan nya, muntik na kaming sumugod sa hospital nun(same experience with sis antagonist) , buti nalang nag calm down na sya, tas ayun, napansin namin super red na pala yung bumbum nya, heheh, tas ayun na-realized namin na yun pala ang sumasakit at hindi ang tummy nya. :-)

i can understand why doctors don't give out their cellphone numbers to their patients. Hindi lang naman tayo ang pasyente nila. Can you imagine if each and every patient had their cellphone numbers? Hindi na sila makakapag-pahinga. Tao din lang naman sila.
And for doctors who do give out their cellphone numbers, saludo ako sa kanila. But I won't take it against doctors who don't.

haha... both my OB and pedia are cellphone-accessible but I also won't take it against a doctor if he doesn't encourage it kasi nga most people, lalo na Moms, fail to consider that they have other patients, a life of their own, or that they sleep too

eh pag Mommy ka na ngarag sa kaka-worry about your child... it's so easy to forget those things... syempre ang concern mo lang is to keep your child safe...

I have learned though that if more than one day na yung LBM (if more than 4 watery poops na din) and it's a 1 year old baby and below... ER agad talaga... that's what my main pedia does kasi for babies so young, you cannot guarantee that you are able to replenish what they're losing

If older than 1 year... I might wait longer and observe... and give BRAT diet lang (banana, apple, rice and tea... plus bmilk and oresol if he will take it) but if I don't see any improvements, ER pa din...

if older than 1 year old pero he's also barfing (gastroenteritis)... ER agad kasi mas lalong hindi mari-replenish ang nawawala sa kanya

for kids younger than 2... more kami talaga sa err on the side of caution. I won't wait anymore for my child to manifest weakness and fever...

naku nakaktaranta talaga ang ganun kasi si baby last november nagka diarrhea kakaloka hirap pati magpa inom ng pedialytes or yung hydrites.

My diarrhea nanaman son ko, dinala namin siya ng 3am sa doctor dahil iyak ng iyak masakita ng tyan at 3times ng nagpoops at watery talaga,may kasama pang fever,sabi ng pedia gastro daw,binigyan lang kami ng pedialytes at pangfever..di naman daw kailangang gamutin ang diarrhea kasi BRAT diet daw ang kailangang gawin..kaso bakit sa nasesearch ko at nababasa ko pag ang gastro ay cause ng bacteria dapat nagtatake ng antibiotics ang bata,last month kasi nagsuffer din siya sa ganon at nagtake ng antibiotics pero walang fever last month,tapos tinest pa ang stool niya,kagabi sabi no need daw basta observe daw muna??? kaya tuloy di ako mapakali....
