Hi mommies. It's good to have your portfolio diversified. I would suggest getting a VUL first before getting a mutual fund or investments that don't have life insurance. If the breadwinner of the family is insured and something happens to him/her, the children can still continue having a good life and continue their studies. If both parents are already insured, then they can get other types of investments like mutual funds, stocks, real estate, bonds, business, etc.

Kumuha kami noon ng CAP, iyong pinakamababa at unfortunately or fortunately, malabo ng magamit. Good thing my daughter passed for a college scholarship and my son, well, matagal pa dahil sa K-12. By then, and hopefully, tapos na daughter ko so hindi na mahirap pagtapusin kahit na walang educational plans.

In our case hindi talaga kasi si step daughter bata pa lang nagtrabaho na, then sya na gumagastos sa lahat so nagtapos sya ng chem engineering na may natitira pang $30k sa educational plan nya kaso ayaw na nyang mag masteral para magamit yun, so sayang talaga.

Pre need plans come to mind pag nakakarinig ako ng education plan

Para sakin, maigi ng gawin na lang ito on your own

Invest in VUL, mutual funds or stock market. Increase your knowledge on how to invest in these vehicles

Ganun din kasi, yung mga companies offering educational plans also invest your money to mutual funds or the stock market. They become the "middlemen" and merong fees yun shempre. But the risks are the same - your money earns or not (as in the case of CAP)

Alamin muna magkano ang kailangang education fund. Pang college ba yan?

If college, mga 3.5 to 4M ang kailangan mo per child kung say 1 yo pa lang sya now

how to compute?

kung ang mga univ ay nagtataas ng tuition fee every yr ng up to 12.5%, bilangan mo lang kung ilang taon mag 18 ang iyong anak (if he is 1 yo now, you have 17 years)

sa smart phone calculator, enter 100,000 the hit the multiplication sign 2x then enter 1.125 and hit the = sign 17 times (kung 17 yrs pa bago mag 18 ang iyong anak)

100,000 x x 1.125 in 17 yrs ay 740,615.65 - tuition fee sa 1st yr college

833,192.60 - tuition fee sa 2nd  yr college

937,342 - tuition fee sa 3rd yr college

and so on..

pano pag 5 yr course or more? kaya di nga malabo yang 3.5M to 4M for college education fund

so now pa lang, mag start na mag invest. The younger the kid, the better kasi the younger the kid, the more years you can make your money grow

I'm pregnant with our first child and sinimulan na namin his/her educational fund. Pati na rin sa magiging kapatid nya as we plan on having two only.

Tama isang sis dito, we need about 4M per child, for a 4 yr private college course in the future, 18 years from now, assuming K to 12 pa rin then. So that's 8M for two kids.

As per my computation, we would 1.5M in an investment vehicle that would grow at a rate of 10% a year to achieve our goal of 8M in 18 years. That's 1.5M now. Kung magsimula pa kami in 2 years or 3 years pa, mas malaki pa dapat ang starting capital.

Good luck to us mommies.

Wala pa baon dyan and other stuff.

Grabe lang.

^And don't forget the projects etc. kaya talaga nowadays hinde pwedeng anak lang ng anak. Kelangan paghandaan.

We have VULs from Sunlife for the three of us. Meron din kame MF which are set up and contributed for by our companies. Yung sa daughter ko, parang long term savings plan nya. We will give it to her after she graduates as her start up money. Next year we plan to invest in others naman.

No.

First of all, baka magqualify rin lang sa scholarships - part or full.

Or baka rin funded ng government ang education, like taking military service.

However pre-need companies had wisen up and rebranded their educational plan products - para maging insurance na VUL na lang plus educational benefit. But then a kid doesn't really need a life insurance because he/she is NOT an income earner in the first place.

I got Insular Life.
