Pinag usapan namin ito ni hubby since magkakababy na kami. And i said no. Para sa akin parang gusto ko mag time deposit na lang, natatakot na kasi ko baka magsara lang eh, masayang yung perang pinaghirapan namin. :)

the choice of a financial instrument depends on your financial goal and the time frame (kung short or long term). kaya ok lang, wala namang masama if you diversify - pwede sa bank, savings account or TD; pwede din sa insurance, or stocks/bonds. the risk will always be there, kahit nasa loob ng vault ng BPI or BDO.

basta ang importante, at the end of the day, na-meet ang financial goal mo at the time you needed it and the time you projected na kailangan mo na ito at kukunin mo na, and the amount that you placed or invested eh hindi nabawasan at di ka nalugi.

anonymous09 - wooooh! 38,272 -5yrs to pay and you'll get 300k assured sum? something is missing here.  38,272 in 5 years is just 191,360, that's more than 63 % ROI for 5 years. Better do a double check here sis or this is manna from heaven.

^^I think this is fine
This is life insurance slash education plan, I presume? so sa 17th birthday ninyo makukuha yung fund?
grad gift is 20% of the sum assured (also known as face amount or college fund)?

^the features are pretty much the same as other educational plans from life insurance companies. ganyan din sa daughter ko (although from another provider), and I already got the benefit, except for the grad gift (age 21)

nakapag-claim na kami sa philplans (formerly philam plans) just last month nung education plan for my stepdaughter. we opted for the lumpsum amount para hindi na pabalik-balik. we placed the money in a time deposit account in BDO dahil may ipon pa naman kami pambayad sa tuition nya. malaking tulong din yung education plan. sana in 10 years pag yung daughter ko naman ang mag-college, ganun pa rin ang philplans, walang hassle sa pag-claim. mabilis.

Ano meaning nun sum assured? Kasi Baka yun yung insurance face amt Hindi yun makukuha upon maturity. Malaki kasi. Kaya baka may insurance part.

^ in a college education plan from a life insurance company, the fund that you'll get is called college fund or education benefit. this plan has built-in life insurance (sum assured or face amount), equivalent to the amount of the college fund.

for example, you got 1M college fund. your child is also insured at 1M.

when your child turns 17, you get the 1M college fund.

if something happens to the child (knock on wood) within the coverage period (in some plans, the child is insured either until age 21 or until age 23, depende sa provider), the parent (or the payor) will get 1M.

pero pag nag-21 na or nag-23 na yung bata, nag-mature na yung plan and nothing happened naman to the child, tapos na yun, you won't get the insurance benefit, you got na the 1M college fund kasi.

the grad gift is usully given at age 21.

^you might want to take a look at this, for comparison (this is my daughter's plan, I already got the college fund)...halos pareho lang sa Generali, especially for the bigger face amounts / plans. pag annual, parang ang laki ng return talaga compared to other payment modes.

yung kinuha namin para sa daughter ko na gold education plan from philplans, we paid a spot cash price of only P271,405. we got that when she was about one month old. when she goes to college 10 years from now, she stands to receive P998,674 in total benefits plus a cash amount as graduation gift. malaking tulong yon kung talagang makukuha namin.

^sure pero hindi ganito yung kinuha ko nun for my daughter

Yearly cash payout for 10 years - 5th yr  to 14th year (10% of the maturity value)
30,000 x 10 = 300,000

Lump sum payout at the end of 15th year = 300,000

sis billy, i will just ask, medyo wala ako idea about it, example ba nito if I start this year 2011, I can get 30K starting 2012-2022, then iba pa ang 30k sa pang-5th year at 14th year.
Then iba pa ang 300K na makukuha sa year 15th year?? tama ba sis..
