Sisses! When is the best time to do cardio and weight lifting exercises? Morning or evening? Which comes first, cardio then weight ba? Please enlighten me. Thanks!!! :)

It doesnt really matter which time of the day you do your exercises, so do it at the most convenient time for you. In fact, you burn the same amount of calories if you do one session of 40 mins in the treadmill as compared to 2 split sessions of 20 minutes each in a day as long as you do it in the same intensity!

There are many theories about which should come first. But really, it doesn't matter either-- it just matters inasmuch as whatever you do first, you do with better form and more effectively, because you haven't exhausted your body yet. If you do cardio first, chances are you will be more careless with your form  with weights after and vice versa!

^whatever she said

But if a busy schedule was not a concern, choose morning.
- The natural endorphins will help you feel good the whole day.
- Better metabolic after-effect to stimulate fat burning during the day.
- Most feel freshest in the morning.
- Also there are less people in the gyms in the morning since most members are at work.

Just saw this on the Australian tv show What's Good For You sa Lifestyle Channel. After doing studies on what time is it best to do cardio- first thing in the morning, preferably before breakfast. Lift weights is late afternoon, 4:30 pm onwards, this is when we have more strength and therefore strength gains. But as said above, doesn't matter what time nga, basta you just do it as Nike puts it. ;) Any exercise is better than none.

When combining weight and cardio, do weights first, then cardio after. Be sure to just warm up before weights. If you want have just weight days and separate cardio days too. This way you can amp up your cardio workouts.

^ Dati, I asked my coach kung anong pwede kong bilhin na equipment to lift weights.

She told me, there's no sense in buying if I can't carry my own weight. So focus daw in doing body weight exercises like push ups, squats, planks etc. Kapag daw sobrang dali na buhatin ang sarili ko, I can add weights na.

It makes so much sense.

^ Nakalimutan ko pala i-add, if there's one thing to buy daw, it's resistance bands/ tubes. Mas ok nga naman sya, parang nag-w-weights ka din. I bought 3 with varying elasticity, I'm glad I didn't buy heavy dumbbells, di ko alam san ilalagay and hindi ko madadala kapag magttravel.

i started weights training 2 weeks ago kasi nabasa ko na IT'S MUST if you want to lose weight, keep the weight off and look good. meron nga naman kasi pumayat nga may pakpak naman at belt bag.

at home lang ako kasi i have a 3 year old plus no helper at the moment. the good thing i can workout whenever im free.

i was doing 1hour zumba at home everyday for 3 weeks. then ang sched ko na m-w-f push ups squats, planking, sit ups then 5lbs dumbel exercise tapos 30 minutes zumba. may nabasa kasi ako na mas maganda huli cardio kasi sa weights training na burn ko na yung carbs ko so pag dating ng cardio ko fats na yung ibuburn ko, una daw kasing ibuburn yung carbs bago yung reserved fats. daw ha. no expert here.

t-thr-s-s 15 minutes jump rope in the morning. bale 60 seconds fast jump rope then 30 seconds rest, then go again. tapos 1hr zumba in the afternoon.

last monday nagka tonsilitis ako, had low grade fever and muscles aches, funny cause alam ko na saan yung mga bago kong muscles kasi masakit.

this is true. TRX can be a good alternative. planking and pushups super hirap talaga pero tinatry ko para mabuhat ko sarili ko

hi sissies.

i have been into weight training for over a month na. My PT started me on cardio for weight loss until ma achieve ang 110 lbs from 118lbs. But I did not find it challenging and it was like something I did not look forward to doing everyday. So I told my PT, let's go to weight training na.

I do barbell squats, deadlifts, leg press, lahat ng ginagawa ng lalaki ata. After 4 weeks, I am surprised how my body is changing, not just how it looks but how stronger I got compared 4 weeks ago. 4 weeks ago, I could not do 4 continuous reps of suspended jack knives but last week, naka 20 ako na tuloy tuloy.

barbell squats - 5lbs each plates
deadlifts - 5 lbs each
leg press - my max is 80kls
cable row pull - 25 lbs
lats pull down - 25 lbs

etc...

I like weight training because it challenges me, keeps me sweating a lot even after  the work out.

my butt is higher and firmer and I am so happy with the result talaga. I guess the elliptical machine helps a lot din.

on saturdays, i do fasted cardio in the morning so that stored fats will be utilized.
part na ng buhay ko ang muscle sore.

also what i learned is that the KITCHEN plays a major part of achieving the body you want especially the abs. I read nga somewhere that ABS is 70% made in the kitchen and 30% in the gym. eto yung mistake ko lately. i was so confident with my routines that i cheat on my food on weekends that i eat junk. so nadagdagan ang waistline ko. my problem area has been my muffin top. ever since kahit super payat ako nung high school may puson talaga ako.

I dont believe in not eating carbs, we need carbs for energy but it has to be the right kind; brown rice and wheat bread. Avoid anything white, like white pasta, white bread etc.

by the way, once you started lifting weights, do not be surprised if you are no longer losing weight, you can actually gain more weight because of the muscle build up. pero you will notice that youll be leaner and mas kasya na sayo ang skinny jeans mo.

^ Hehe sis pareho silang good dipende kasi sa goal mo.

If I am not mistaken eh yung weight training is a generic term to mean any lifting of a weight. most common type ito ng strength training usually the goal nito is raising your metabolism, strengthening your bones and muscles and improving your fitness, and well maybe to look good. hehe

While yung Powerlifting naman sis focus on the muscular strength and muscular power aspects of strength training. Developing absolute strength is the primary goal for a power-lifter. Power-lifters focus their energy and training on increasing their 1RM for the bench press, squat and deadlift exercises.

Myths?

Weight training makes you bulky and masculine. <- GUILTY! Hahaha!

Yan akala ko BEFORE pero nung nag start na ako mag workout up to know eh ang liit at very feminine pa rin ng body ko, not bulky or masculine. Kahit mga guys na kasabayan ko eh up to now hirap pa rin sila magpalabas ng bulky muscles.

According sa isang website, "Due to the fact that women do not, and cannot, naturally produce as much testosterone (one of the main hormones responsible for increasing muscle size) as males do, it is impossible for a woman to gain huge amounts of muscle mass by merely touching some weights."

I told her its a myth that women can get bulky that fast kaso parang doubtful pa rin sya.

Dati yan din akala ko :)

true.buti na lang hindi pa rin ako bumibili ng dumbbells.  dati i cannot even do half push-ups pero ngayon unti unti i can na. and favorite ko yung side planking, mas nagiging strong na yung arms ko

also, hindi ba nakakaliit ng boobs and push ups? kasi i noticed yung muscle sa taas ng boobs yung sumasakit sakin pag super push ups ako... tee hee!
