^ nice! keep it up and you'll get there!

to bump this (yet remain on topic), the gym has been a bit more populated than usual lately. i guess a lot of girls are trying to get lean in time for summer. one of the new girls asked me if she should drink a raw egg while training. just making it clear that this is a myth! ;D an old-school one, too.

Cook nalang the egg white and eat it for protein. :) My trainer also mixes it raw in his protein shake. :P

Not now sis, before madalas. Medyo looking around to buy na nga eh. What's a good one w/o too much carbs/sugar in it? I used to take yung sa Healthy Options Universal brand Dieters Protein Shake at it's really low carb, less than 2g. Pero pingasawaan ko na siya.

i confess i have no experience with protein powders. do you ladies take it as an extra meal? :) i've been thinking about getting a chocolate-flavored bottle so i can make low-carb protein brownies. hahaha! ;D

Sis feline13 where do you get the Impact? Wow Coffee Caramel! That's like dessert also. :) The only common flavors kasi are vanilla and Choc, which are easier to add fruits, etc to. The fancier flavored ones kasi minsan di masarap daw, haven't really tried a lot tho.

Sis Caeca, you can use this as a meal replacer, or like me as a snack. Go sis! Plenty recipes, esp low carb/cal ones, use protein powder to replace the cocoa powder and to boost the protein.

^^sis, protein supplement lang naman pag feeling mo kulang ang intake mo as per requirement or for me, gamit ko sya pang quick fix for breakfast plus bread or oatmeal -- enough to tide me till the next three hours pag nagmamadali ako umalis ng bahay for work.
same din sa postworkout -- imbes na mag chicken breast sandwich ako after a workout for protein to kick in for recovery, protein drink and bread then kain ulit pag uwi sa house -- if kaya mo naman mapunan yung requirement mo, ok lang na wala. pero low carb protein brownies sounds yummy!!!

^sis, sa gym meron. ask mo.
if wala, either sa Toby's or Chris Sports.

i normally get about 1g protein/lb of bodyweight, what about you guys?

around that din sis, 1lb to 1.2lb depende.. pero madalas hindi din nasusunod..
aniweis, i'm in need of motivation.. haven't been visiting the gym for 3wks now.
last sunday, i was able to squeeze in a workout.. i asked my 15yo to take a picture of me hoping that it would at least capture my base strenght and eventually motivate me to go back..
share ko na lang sis -- hindi ko pa kaya full squat pero eto ang best na nagawa ko..http://falvo.multiply.com/photos/album/9/February_workout..#photo=1
so that dispels the myth of lifting heavy.. i'm 100lbs.. the iron is 132lbs..
aniweis, what keeps you going?
what motivates you? or is tha OT?

very nice! where was that taken? :) hey, that's a great idea -- i'll post a pic lifting din to further dispel the "it makes you bulky" myth. :D

caeca squatting
- here, i'm squatting 145 at 125 lbs. ok, sometimes i'm 127. lol!!

when i first started, i was motivated because i wanted to lose fat. then eventually, i found that i just really enjoyed lifting. i kept getting stronger, and i kept getting leaner. you get the opportunity to improve yourself with every workout. it's addictive! ;D

you don't look a day over 25!!! :o it's true that weight training is  the fountain of youth. it reverses aging at the cellular level! so instead of buying outrageously expensive creams (with no scientifically proven value), magbubuhat nalang ako. :)

i can get really evangelical when it comes to weight training. i think it's got soooo many great effects on your body, women just don't realize it. they're too scared of getting "bulky."

thanks for the tip.

yan din  ang tanong ko sa trainer sa gym dito e. ang sabi ko lang ayoko naman yung katulad kay vina morales o kay jackielou blanco na ganun kasi maskulada na yun. he he. tapos inexplian na sa akin na ganyan nga.

^ true. i think that some girls have the genetics to get big naturally, but they're few and far between. how long have you been training with weights? how do you like it so far? :)

here's a super inspiring video of 72 year old ernestine shepherd, the sexiest lola ever! ;D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6az9Kb0B-I

Wow sis Caeca, super expert sa weights!  Galing-galing naman!

What do you think of what I do?  I have been going to Body Pump classes, 3 times a week, so more on lots and lots of reps siya.  My bar is not too heavy, the heaviest I use is for squats which is 15kgs.  I'm 92 lbs.  It only makes me leaner, pero I want to get more defintion on my arms, shoulders and back.

Thanks for your advice! :)

Great pics mga sis! You both look awsome sqauting heavy.  Now if you can full squat those weights, you're truly at powerlifting mode na! :) Tho kung ako yan, and not PL mode, I would modify din. ;)

Sis feline, I totally understand if tamad ka mag gym it comes over the best of us. Find something else to do muna, like Kettelbells look interesting, or whatever catches your fancy. Me I look for other cardio based things to do outside the gym. If there's an outdoor class making buhat sana, like Muscle Beach in Venice, CA, I'm so there. So take a break if needed then when you feel ready again go back to the gym.

@ sis airborne - full squat yan! i just didn't post the pic na naka full squat because i look froggy in it. lol!!! sorry, vain ba? ;D

@ sis remi - 15 kg or 15 lbs? :) for more definition, you'll need to build more muscle, which means you're going to have to start lifting heavier weights. :) if you can do lots and lots of reps, that bar isn't heavy enough!
