mga sis tanong lang, specially to those na matatagal na sa Aus.

Say a Filipino, takes his Aus citizenship oath taking on Jan 1, but then he needs to leave for the Philippines on Jan 3. Wala bang complications eto?

He can't apply for Aus passport kasi it takes 10 working days. all he can use is his Philippine passport.

i know it's summer time in OZ with rains and thunderstorms once in a while. my son is having a business trip in sydney early dec. i just would like to know what kind of corporate wear do people use during summer. is it fine wearing short sleeves in the office or one is required long sleeves? how strict is the culture reg office wear? does he need to bring a suit? ngek! on this suit plan...dagdag bigat sa bagahe. oh nooo!

sis re corporate wear it depends siguro sa company kung how strict but usually ang office attire dito is long sleeves with tie and suit talaga kahit summer although may tinatawag na friday casual na depende rin sa company kung pwede jeans, yung iba naman ang friday casual means slacks parin na matching polo short sleeves or long sleeves parin without tie and suit lang. I think mas okay parin ang overdress than underdress hehe.. hope this helps

my fiance always wears long sleeves to work (no casual friday for him) and a tie. At my work it's a bit more relaxed but usually it is still long sleeves in summer with no tie. HTH! i'd bring the suit jacket just in case

son was able to get in touch with the OZ ofc. almost the same here minus the suit.

mon-thu  long sleeves. no tie will do.
fri  dress down...jeans and shirts okay.

though medyo matagal pa.. ask ko na rin out of curiosity's sake  ... dun sa citizenship requirement, 4 years of stay di ba? continuous ba yun? hindi ka pwede mag-travel outside kahit for leisure? pano kung may emergency and you have to go back sa pinas for a month or two?

you can go out sis. may allowable absences naman. remember its 4 out of 5 years. so you have 12 months sis. (better check the website pa din, or call or ask an immigration lawyer about loop holes.)

its best that you use those allowable absences wisely. para pag nagka emergency pwede kang umuwi without worry.

Sis, its also best na makuha mo agad ang citizenship. kasi ang batas, lagi nila binabago. ako two years lang pinuhunan ko, pero in two years nagkaroon ng changes (ginawang 4 years, nagkaroon ng exam (dati interview lang daw), pinalitan ang exam). anything can happen in 4 years.

actually, merong naglolobby na hirapan ang exam. as in mahirap talaga sis. binalita noon sa channel 7. limot ko na mga tanong, pero you have to study hard for it.

tiis lang sis na wala or minimal leisure travel. mas masaya naman ang travel pag aussie passport na.

Anyone who wants to share about their ISP (internet service provider)?  I am currently on a prepaid wireless broadband and I find it very costly.  I usually recharge it with an amount of $49 worth 4GB but can only consume it in 2 weeks.  I don't have a phone line so unlimited broadband won't be my other option.  I've seen the current offer of optus on 90GB Naked broadband however they require a 24-month contract plan.   Looks very interesting but is it really worth it? since it's a 24mo plan, I have no other choice but to stick with it even if the service is poor.

i think there's no such thing as Unlimited in Aus. You pay for every byte you download and upload.. But at least, 95% of the time, hindi nagkaka "traffic"

but once you step beyond the allotted GB...uber bagal....snail talaga.

^^sis I dont know about optus service, try iinet naked DSL you don't need a separate phone line, ok naman sya for me it's worth it kasi lagi ako nanunuod sa net. Naka-1 yr nako dun sa 2 yr plan

^ i have naked dsl with iinet. the wireless modem came with a phone so i get free calls (voip). we don't have a phone line through telstra because i didn't want to pay line rental and we don't make many house calls anyway. it's $59.95 per month 16GB limit. pretty good so far 24 month contract btw.

thanks akthung, pilates and selly. i find it uneasy to choose isp here since you always need to depend on the download/upload limit plus the cost of course. i will consider iinet. i've seen their website and looks good. ask ko rin yung speed mabilis ba talaga? yung optus kase 90GB for $70 a month hindi ko lang sure yung speed nya. while iinet, they have 35GB for a $70 monthly plan pero super bilis daw around 10mpbs yata im not sure. thanks again

depende din sis sa klase ng "line" na kukunin mo meron kasing mga providers na tipong ADSL at merong ADSL2 pa blah blah.

iinet kami. mabilis naman at 54 mbps.para ka lang nag save ng word document. wireless kami. pero pagka 4-5pm medyo bumabagal. madami sigurong users around our area.

i'm taking my masters din ngayon. since wireless modem, i just go to the Uni and take my online tests in one of their computer labs. better safe than sorry. yung iba nagtitiwala sa wireless, pero ako hindi. nayari na ako sa isang quiz ko worth 10% of total grade. buti na lang sa Uni ako kumuha less problems in terms of proving your innocence.

^thanks bro. wow dami pa lang iinet users here.  @54mbps ang bilis nun. im currently on a three, prepaid wireless. yung iinet they have partnership with three pala. so kung wireless ka, are you maintaining your account both with iinet and three? ooopps... nalito na ko =)

this is the first time i've heard about iinet.  their offer looks great and based on your posts ok talaga ang speed. napaisip lang talaga ko kung naked dsl plan or yung wireless nila.

A naked DSL (a.k.a. standalone or dryloop DSL) is a digital subscriber line (DSL) without a PSTN (analogue telephony) service — or the associated dial tone. In other words, only a standalone DSL Internet service is provided on the local loop.

basically, with the naked dsl package, you have a modem with an antennae. (wireless connection to your ISP) and you can use a VOIP phone.

downside lang ng VOIP from my personal experience is
it eats up your monthly byte allowance. once you have exceeded your monthly allowance, you will have problems with your calls.

sa pagkakaalam ko, when you say "mobile internet," it generally refers to those USB receivers. this operates like a mobile phone and there are dead spots. mostly due to walls and buildings. i believe the wireless networks in Aus is efficient.
