Actually, Montelukast is not an anti-histamine. It is an anti - leukotriene. Leukotrienes are chemical mediators that are also released during an asthmatic/allergic attack, usually during the late phase while histamines are released during the early phase.
Only those patients on anti-histamines such as Virlix or Allerkid need to be off their meds for 1 week prior to skin testing.
Dra. Ponio is from UP PGH. She is very nice and magaling also.
If you can't seek consult with her right away, I suggest that you go back to your pedia muna. Why? Your daughter was on oral steroids (Optipred), there is a need for the pedia to see her/re-assess her after steroid intake.

kanina pa ko ng reresearch about sa skin asthma.
meron na naman kasing tumutubong parang blisters na matigas sa skin ng son ko 2yrs na siya.
pero mas worst ang nasa nose niya. it started out na gasgas lang, tapos pinalagyan ko ng bactroban para gumaling agad. pero Lumala ng Lumala. pati Loob ng nostrils niya meron na, and Meron pa siyang sipon ngayon.  parang ng crust nga eh,

hindi ko alam kung bakit. pero i remember last year almost same month ngkaganito din siya, pero sa legs merong mga sugat na hindi gumagaling, tapos hanggang sa ngspread na sa arms pero mostly both legs niya. ang tagal ng Heal, siguro mga 3-4months.

akala ko ok na , pero ngayon eto na naman. sobrang Heartbreaking talaga eh.

Pinalitan ko na ang sabon niya ng Cetaphil, after every wash or kapag tulog siya nilalagyan ng bactroban ang sugat niya. meron din calmosepetine para sa mga blisters palang na wala pang wound.

and the thing that bothers me pa is napapansin ko when he is sleeping parang hirap huminga, tapos ang bilis niyang huminga.

im seriously thinking of going to a Pulmo-Alle. i came accross dr lelet, sis what time kaba sa rob manila?

or can you recommend a good pulmo-alle sa UST? malapit kasi ako dun.

is it coincidence lang ba na almost same month last year nagkaganito rin siya?

If recurrent ang skin infections niya, baka kulang ang anti-microbial cream (Bactroban) as treatment. What did your pedia say about this?
Clarify ko lang na magkaiba ang pulmonologist sa allergologist so walang pulmo - allergologist. Pulmonologists deal with diseases of the lungs, whether infectious, allergic, etc. while allergologists deal with allergies and immune problems affecting any part of the body.
If sa UST, there's Dr. Agnes Andaya. She holds clinic at Room 1002 at the Medical Arts building. Call na lang UST for her schedule.

ng pacheck na po ako last week. sa ust pero different doctor, she gave my son fusicort cream,
antibiotics, so far  ok naman ang recovery, 1 week palang pero nawawala na ang mga sugat niya and parang walang scars.

^ Good to know your son is responding well to his treatment. From your post kasi, mukhang kailangan niya talaga ng oral antibiotics rather than just bactroban.

Is ear infection related to allergy? I have read in an article about this, sa kellymom.com im not sure though.

Before, my baby had atopic dermatitis then just last week he had ear infection. So i was thinking that it can be related.

^sis have you seen an EENT doctor first? kasi baka naman hindi related sa allergy. it would help if madiagnose muna talaga ng EENT specialist.

Meron palang thread na ganito, buti naman

Yung baby ko, nung first day niya after paliguan sa hospital napansin ko na may butlig siya sa forehead. Konti lang naman, pero sabi nila normal lang daw at mawawala rin. Pero habang tumatagal dumadami, nagkaroon na rin sa cheeks. 3 weeks old na siya now, and buong mukha niya meron na, pati scalp, ears kaya pinacheck up ko na sa pedia, sabi Atopic Dermatitis daw. Cetaphil soap, lotion and cream daw gamitin ko kay baby, pag di pa rin nawala after a week, reresetahan na niya ng gamot. Sa saturday pa mag 1 week pero napapansin ko na hindi nag iimprove. Pati sa katawan nagkakaroon n rin lalo na sa likod. Ang rough rough na talaga ng itsura ng mukha niya tapos namumula pa minsan yung mga butlig lalo pag mainit kaya nasa A/C kami lagi. Meron din akong nakita yellow flakes sa right ear niya..

Let's say effective yung soap, gano katagal bago makita improvement? Kasi parang gusto ko na magpalit ng soap.

Gusto ko na sana patingin sa allergologist si baby para ma-test kung san siya allergic, kaso nabasa ko dito sa thread na at least 3 months old dapat. Parang di na ko makapaghintay ng ganung katagal. Breastfed si baby, baka mamaya nasa kinakain ko rin, ang hirap magpinpoint kaya gusto ko na sana siya ipatest

^^yes sis. and according to the doctor bacterial. since si baby mahilig magkamot because of his allergies (we call him Mr. K,dahil mahilig magkamot) baka nakamot daw and babies are prone daw to ear infection. But for me, this happened twice already and I dont want to put my baby into so many anti-biotic.

I came across this article that some ear infections are brought about by allergies. I dont know if this is true though, thats why I want to seek professional help.

@sis macoolet- like you breastfed din si baby. and for that I have to watch what i eat. I avoid dairy products, peanuts, eggs and chicken. na-lessen ang allergies nya but sometimes may flare ups pa din. I use synalar 10 ointment, physiogel AI cream, oilatum soap and physiogel lotion.

^ganun ba sis... i would recommend Dra. Michelle De Vera, nirecommend lang din sya sa akin ni sis Marose... mabait kausap at hindi ma-"cream" agad na doctor... gumaling ang rashes ng baby ko nung pinatingin ko sya kay Dra.

she holds clinic in Medical City, hindi na ako updated sa clinic hours nya, you may want to call the trunkline of the hospital, then pa-connect ka na lang sis sa clinic nya.

@guiding star, every M-W-F, and Saturdays ang clinic sked ni Dr. De Vera at TMC.  Meron din siyang clinic sa St. Luke's QC, every M-Th.  She is accredited with Maxicare and Intellicare, by the way.

sis guiding star, kalungkot naman yung no dairy products... ibig sabihin no ice cream, chocolate and cakes...  Gaano katagal mo nakita yung improvement ng skin sis?

yes sis  , but sometimes I really cant help it kumakain ako kahit konti. 

I noticed the improvement 2-3 weeks of avoiding those food.

How old is your child now?
Allergic rhinitis can give rise to recurrent ear infections, especially if poorly treated ang nasal congestion.

Buong face ba ang affected?
Sa atopic dermatitis in infants kasi, it usually affects the face, except for the nasal area. Malinis ang nasal area. Bihira ang kumakalat sa ibang areas of the body at that age. Anyway, it would be better to have her checked by an allergologist like Dr. De Vera or Dr. Sumpaico para maconfirm ang diagnosis and para mabigyan ka ng proper avoidance measures.

How about sa CGH, may mairerecommend po ba kayo? Andun kasi yung OB ko and Pedia ni baby, although balak ko ilipat ng pedia later on. Iba po ba ang PF ng pedia-allergo and yung pedia lang? I mean, malaking difference? Parang mas ok kasi yung pedia-allergo para isahang check-up na lang. I checked the nasal area, clear naman, pero meron in between the eyes. Yung eyebrows niya and ears may yellow flakes na
Should I stop using Cetaphil? Kasi hindi nag iimprove, lumalala pa rin... Nakakaawa talaga, di na siya nakakatulog kasi kating kati siya
