Been to Japan a few times already (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara) and I am more than convinced that I would like to stay there for good. For someone who has been enamored with its language and culture ever since I can remember, it’s like MY Paradise on earth, despite the high standards of living. I really have this gut feeling that I am destined to spend the rest of my life there, especially now that I am in love with a Japanese man (LDR). Ayoko naman na maging housewife lang or ma-chismis na nagpakasal lang for the kekkon (spouse) visa. Meron pa kayang eikaiwa (English conversation school) na tumatanggap ng non-American teachers like Filipinos? I have been part of the ESL/EFL industry for most of my working life, and could pass for Japanese since I look like one and speak the language. Problem ko na lang is obtaining employment visa due to discrimination against non-American English teachers...

And by the way, for my next trip, does anyone know cheap apartments in Tokyo that I could rent for a week? Most apartments kasi na nakikita ko require one month minimum eh hindi naman ako pwedeng mag-tagal ng ganon sa Japan kasi may work pa ako here in Manila. Thank you in advance!

^ sis there's a lot of eikawa schools that accepts non-native speaker as long as you have an american or british accent. however, most of them do not sponsor an employment visa kapag hindi ka westerner. kaya kung wala kang proper working visa before applying malamang sa hindi ka matanggap. tutulungan ka nila kung extension/renewal lang ng employment visa mo pero from scratch wala masyadong companies na ganun.

Same thoughts here, but I would like to live in Japan to take up further studies. Para sa akin, that is the promised land (aka the Land of Opportunity), provided that you love the language and culture (which are factors that will make one get used to the lifestyle).

If only the tuition and the standards of living weren’t that high. Bet ko rin pag-aralan Japanese language and culture but most of the scholarships offered by the Japanese Embassy are only for undergrads. I could already speak and write a decent degree of Nihongo pero parang pointless kasi limited lang to conversations with my boyfriend yung practical usage ko, unlike in a true daily non-English speaking Japanese environment, maximized talaga.

Anyway, I will be back in April 2015 for hanami. Most likely I would stay there from March 30 to April 5 or even longer if budget allows. 東京に在住ガールトーカーと会ったら嬉しいなぁ! (I would love to meet GTers in Tokyo)

^^sis japan is not the land of opportunity na. The economy is getting really bad. And siyempre even thought you know the language very well if you are a foreigner it's not that easy to be successful. I'm half pero I still feel like an outsider especially at work.

Five year multiple visa holder here. Thinking of other places outside the usual destinations (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto) to visit and possibly stay longer in. Kung pwede nga lang mamalagi ng matagal tutal up to 30 days naman ang allowed stay per entry

Hello sisses. My hubby's co-worker just got his work visa for a teaching job in Japan (120k pay package) -- he's a nursing graduate. Second time nya daw to so it was easier for him to apply for a job here sa Pinas. The first time he did it daw was when he was in Japan on a tourist visa. After a few days daw, he looked for a job and get hired naman then eventually got a work visa. Ang sabi nya pa, it's easier to go that route daw for first timers. I was thinking, parang Dubai lang din. Reading online, madami naghahanap ng English teaching jobs in Japan, no experience necessary as long as your fluent naman. I wonder if anyone here knows about this. Appreciate inputs. Thanks.
