root cannal vs tooth extraction

had my tooth #16 rct this november. finally it was over. i was expecting of sobrang pain but the most that i experienced was the anesthesia injection. it was my first time to undergo anesthesia so grabe yung fear ko na hindi sya umepekto. very low tolerance ako sa pain. good thing that my dentist, who is also a friend, was very careful and talagang miya't miya tanong nya if i'm feeling anything. i have 3 canals and medyo complicated. 1st session, sobrang sensitive daw nung nerve ko so nilagyan muna nya ng gamot to tame the nerve daw. 2nd session, she was able to clean the 1st canal but the other two was giving us a difficult time, calcified daw so mahirap pasukin. So we have to treat the canal to de-calcify, if that's the term. anyways, it took us 4 sessions to have all the canals clean. The only pain na naencounter ko is yung injection and ngalay sa panga dahil medyo matagal per session. Good thing me bite lock ba yun? Anyways, as of now i am so happy that i took the courage to trust my dentist and i think i can have my wisdom teeth extracted na rin with the same dentist. she's just in paseo in front of don bosco . just pm me if you need referrals.

Maiandra.. That's the usual rate of a competent dentist.. I think its a good investment if you think about its a better choice than replacing the tooth in which would cost the same or more..

itong molar ko din sa left need ng root canal but i forgot if 1st siya or yong 2nd.

i'm still thinking if ipapaRCT ko ba siya or magpabunot na lang. ang lalim na daw kasi ng butas saka may abscess din which i'm taking antibiotics for.

I think may slight crack na yung tooth (nasagi nung binunot yung katabi niya), and may pasta siya. Ngayon masakit na siya. Choice ko is either bunot or RCT kasi may ISA pang ngipin na tutubo galing dun sa katabi nyang binunot before, and wisdom tooth na baka tumulak sa kanila. Tignan pa sa x-ray...

So ayun, pa-PM na lang po Maraming salamat !

Take note that when choosing a dentist to do RCT, make sure they have an x-ray machine in the clinic--this is essential in performing RCT. Should a dentist offer to do RCT and he/she doesn't have an x-ray machine, walk away!

Thanks for that info,i went to gaoc yung sa medical plaza they charge 8thou per canal then d p kasama ang xray, bakit ganun sila kaoverpriced. Naloka ako,pero h0nestly natatakot ako sa procedure.

I agree with you sis. I have undergone RCT sa dentist na walang x-ray at sobrang hassle siya kasi every session kailangan magpa x-ray ako. She also told me na kailangan ipajacket na tooth ko pero parang gusto ko na lang lumipat sa iba since mejo kulang sila and minsan wala siya sa clinic. Gusto ko kasi magpa alaga ng teeth sa isang dentist or clinic lang, ayoko ng palipat lipat.

For GAOC, they are known to be associated with celebrities more than their expertise. For aesthetic purposes siguro, okay pumunta sa GAOC since they usually do esthetic dental works on their artista patients. But for a specialized procedure such as RCT, you're better off going to an endodontist if you're willing to pay that much.

I have my own practice, and would never work for Dr. Gan, but my college friends, now dentists as well, obviously, are the heads of different GAOC branches. I can say that the prices they charge are well worth it. Latest equipment, great techniques, and they even get sent abroad for seminars. :-) All my friends who work there are highly trained in different dental fields.

can somebody suggest a good dentist? my brother needs pasta sa front teeth nya. malaki yung sira ng ipin and the doctor said 4k daw yung isang ipin sa harap. feeling ko tinataga ako. root canal daw plus jacket yun..

btw, yung tooth ko before the molar, naroot canal na, minsan may nafefeel pa rin akong kirot although tolerable naman sya nagtataka lang ako bakit may nafefeel parin ako sa ipin na yun.. pasta lang pala yung nasa teeth ko na yun.

binunutan na rin pala ako yung upper molar ko. kasi daw di pwede i-root kanal dahil 3 roots daw yun at mahirap hanapin yung ugat.. hay ewan ko ba sa dentist na napuntahan ko.. palpak yata... 

also, hindi pala ako in-xray at all nung naroot canal or even nung plan i-root canal yung molar na nag end up sa tooth extraction na lang

^Sis, okay na yung 4k kung root canal and jacket na yun. Ako kasi I spent 3500 sa root canal and another 3k sa jacket. Front tooth din yun. Satisfied naman ako sa gawa ng dentist ko. Very well explained lahat ng gagawin niya from root canal at sa crown na ilalagay kasi fear ko talaga yung masiyadong halata na may crown ako lalo na't front tooth yun.

Pero before ka magstart magpa root canal, dapat tanungin mo muna dentist mo kung ano mga procedures niya. Maganda din na mag inquire ka sa ibang mga dentists para maka-compare mo prices nila at kung maganda talaga ang gawa nila.

Grabe naman yung dentist mo sis kung di ka na-xray. Based on my experience, before sila mag start ng root canal, mag x-ray muna sila kasi dun nila yata titignan. Tapos after ng root canal, another x-ray na naman para makita ng dentist yung gawa niya. Pinakita pa nga ng dentist ko yung last na x-ray then in-explain niya. As far as I can remember, maraming beses nga ako na x-ray.

For RCT, you have to have at least 2 xrays nga. 1 before and 1 after the procedure.

Then it is also recommend to have another several months after, to see if your RCT is healing well.

I havent done my 3rd yet. Wanted na nga ako ng endodontist ko. I dont feel anything naman so i guess im ok. Hehe

Hello! First time to post here. Can you recommend a specialist (endodontist/orthodontist) in Paranaque/Makati area?  My bf needs a second opinion and we really don't know anyone to ask for a reco so i thought of coming here. (I'm a lurker). The first ortho from Farmer's was recommended to him and he told my bf that he needed to undergo root canal. That was last year pa. Now his tooth pain is on and off and sometimes he has fever because of it. I think someone also told him that his ear pains are connected to it and it's bad for the heart din daw. hi! pano ba madedetermine if one should have a root canal treatment? i chipped of a big part of my 2nd molar (lower teeth) when i was 18 or 19 y/o. i'm 24 now. since malaki yung natanggal, my dentist put a porcelain crown on it. since aesthetically, mas okay daw na crown nalang kesa permanent pasta. after 2 weeks, nabasag ko yung procelain crown na yun. ang tagal bago ko bumalik ng dentist to have it fixed. 3-4 months later, dun pa lang ako nag-visit sa dentist ko. since lumaki yung sira nung 2nd molar ko, inalis niya yung mga part na bulok then she put a steel/metal crown on it since mas matibay daw yun.

may on/off pimple-like pus filled yung gums ko where my crown-tooth is located. hindi naman siya sumasakit. hindi makabit-kabit yung lower brace ko dahil yung ortho ko ayaw niya galawin habang may infection daw.

sabi ni ortho, infection. sabi ng dentist ko (yung nagkabit ng crown), nothing to worry daw since hindi naman sumasakait. baka lang sa nakain ko or something.

kahit ba no pain yung feeling ko dun sa tooth with crown na sometimes inflamed, sometimes hindi, need ko ba pa-root canal?

so confused right now. can someone refer or suggest an endodontist na reasonably priced? novaliches / qc area sana please.
