root cannal vs tooth extraction

Hi and hello i would just want a second opinion of sorts to people around here.

A month ago or so while eating at jollibee (lol) Their crispy chickenjoy was a little too crispy and i noticed after eating that a part of my tooth got chipped, I shrugged it off, then a few days after that my it started to hurt then it started to become black of sorts (inside) I shrugged it off since i had no budget that time (As stupid as it may seem i wasted it on a date -_-) Anyway a month or so have passed and the feeling is there's like an ice pick hitting the middle of my tooth with that my head started to hurt.

The tooth i'm talking about is the lower one the second to the last, And i was thinking is it okay for this to get extracted? It really hurts and i'm thinking of a "one swift way to ease the pain" kind of method, i would get an RCT but i don't think i'll be able to keep it maintained (seeing as i'm a working student i don't think i have the cash to actually spend 3-5k monthly)

The thing is my mom has diabetes and chances are i inherited it, And she said once you extract a tooth, all those teeth by time will fall off, Is there a way i can avoid that. (still talking about extraction, no chance and no money to get an RCT as of right now)

i'm having my rct din, 2 magkatabing premolar. 2x na ko nakakabalik for cleaning muna with tempo pasta. pregnant kase ako kaya di matapos ng dentist yung procedure sken. after ko na lang daw manganak tatapusin. she charged me 5k each so 10k since 2 yun. buti pa tong dentist ko ayaw magbunot ng ngipin hangga't maaari. yung dentist kase sa office, nirecommend na extraction na yung 2 ngipin ko eh.

Usually we ask the patient to take an analgesic prior to the procedure then proceed up to the area na masakit. Gradually ginagawa yung treatment until no more discomfort.

yung RCT ko matatapos na sa Tuesday (sa wakas!) Almost 2 months yung treatment ko, i have to visit my dentist 2x a week...and im happy na covered cya ng healthcard namin.

^swerte mo naman. sa healthcard namin di covered ang root canal eh. although nakakakuha kame ng discount pero di fixed at depende din sa dentist.

nagpunta na naman ako sa dentist for cleaning. yun lang talaga muna magagawa nya since di pa din ako nanganganak. gusto ko na nga malagyan na ng permanent filling ko eh.

in lieu of root canal, a dentist suggested pulpotomy to me.  my case isn't severe.  my problem is i feel "ngilo" when i eat/drink anything cold and sweet.  no pain when you tap on the tooth.  the current pasta that i have is just too deep already that if it will be redone, baka ma-expose na yun pulp.  do you think pulpotomy is a better alternative to root canal?  another dentist suggested root canal.  i want to avoid root canal kasi.

Permanent teeth have a much smaller chance of recovery after pulpotomy than primary teeth kaya madalang yung ginagawa---usually pulpectomy na (in other words, RCT). Wala namang masama if you opt to try pulpotomy first but chances are, sa RCT din ang uwi nyan later on.

To differentiate pulpotomy from pulpectomy, pulpotomy is removal of the upper portion of the pulp of the tooth (usually the damaged part only), leaving "healthy" pulp tissue which will hopefully let the tooth recover.

Pulpectomy is the complete removal of the pulp tissue--this is what we do during root canal treatment.

^sis tinmuning, i learned so much from this thread. anyway, i need to see a dentist very soon coz nasira na yung temporary filling in my tooth. nasa upper left side so nakikita sya when i smile. kailangan na ayusin kasi nachip na yung side nya. siguro root canal na ito plus another root canal for my other molar.  im also planning to put bridge sana kasi i had two teeth extracted sa lower right side, so the gap is showing when i laugh. medyo kaka-off tingnan.
my previous dentist already transferred to antipolo kaya malayo na sa amin. could you recommend a good dentist in quezon city, pref. commonwealth area? pwede rin sa quezon ave or scout area. yung affordable naman. would also bring the whole family for our checkup, including my 4-year old daughter.  TIA!

hi sissies!!! just wnt to ask kung may alam kayong magaling and hindi pricey na dentist sa  cavite area... un magaling sa pagkabit ng crown.. kasi i had problem with my crown 3 yrs pa lang sya nag ka bad odor na.. so i decided na palitan sya.. but unfortunately a month pa lang nagka odor na namn sya.. frustrated na frustrated nako 5k p naman for porcelain.. nag se second thought na ako kung papalitan ko pa or pabunot ko na.. kaso ayoko talagang ipa bunot.. gusto ko syang i save ayoko talaga ng dentures.. pero kung ganito parin ang mangyayari after kong mapalitan crown parang nagsayang lang ako ng pera..

to the dentist na sissies pls. help me.. bakit ba ganun ang nangyayari sa crown? nag floss naman ako di rin ako nakakalimot ng mouthwash i know na yun ang maintenance ng crown.. is there something wrong ba sa pagkabit ng crown?? pls.. help.. so depressed na..

Usual cause of bad smell is bacteria- Do you get to clean under your gums? Flossing is the usual way.
Kamusta ang gums mo? For patients with crowns/bridge, kailangan super tyagaan sa paglilinis.. We usually recomment superfloss or kung may budget ka, you can try WATERPIK. Water irrigator. pwede mo din sya lagyan ng solution like chlorhexidine gluconate which is effective sa bacteria and gum problems..

Usually din, how much yung charge per canal? Nagbigay ng price dentist ko but i dunno if mahal sya or ganun talaga price nun...

Ideally, the RCT process should not hurt.

^ oh okay. Thanks. I'm deciding whether to have it done coz I'm hesitant about the process.. the pain and the procedure itself is making me nervous... and the price too, hehe! i think he mentioned the tooth that needs to be done has 3 canals so it's gonna cost quite a lot. He quoted about the same price as you mentioned.

So far, the tooth doesn't hurt naman so he gave me some time to think muna. But he told me to better have it done rather than wait and might have complications and it might just worsen later on.

mga sis, I was advised by my dentist to undergo RCT, but based on what I read and stories of my friends who did the procedure na uncomfortable and masakit I decided to havw my molar extracted na lang. ang option ko now is dentures or fixed bridge for the missing molar. masakit ba ang procedure ng pagpapalagay ng FixedBridge? paliliitin daw yung dalawang katabing ipin? I have the same problem of one girltalker here, yung tooth is in front that can be seen when smiling. I have a question, 2 dentist already recommended me to go under RCT, magiging dark ba yung tooth if undergone RCT? and masakit ba if yung tooth in front ang iRCT? :| Natatakot talaga ako.
