root cannal vs tooth extraction
« on: October 26, 2009, 05:09:41 pm »
help naman, baka meron tayong dentist or mga gt dyan na pwede mag explain or mag bigay ng advice,

I'm having a toothache for almost a week now, nung pumunta ako dentist she suggested na itroot canal yung tooth na sumsakit, nag start na ako kanina, bt medyo nag dadalawang isip ako kung itutuloy ko yung treatment or papatangal ko lang yung tooth.

reason ko kaya prefer ko a tooth extraction nalang kasi:
1.) mahal mag undergo ng treatment, it will cost me 18k para sa iisang tooth.

Hello sis, I'm a dentist and as long as I can save a patient's tooth, i really will. Tama ang dentist mo about the pros of root canal. Wag mo ipapabunot yan. Magsisisi ka. Pangit ang pustiso. Trust me. :)

I had my root canal treatment done a couple of years ago.

Last June, I spent another 17k to restore my tooth kasi cracking all over yung tooth.

Tsk.

Well, you got ripped off by your dentist. Anyway, sayang yung totoong ngipin mo. Ako i'd spend a hundred thousand pesos para lang wag akong mabunutan.

I know, right! Tsk.

How much ba dapat ang crown? Diba iba-ibang klase yun? And magkano ba talaga ang maintenance?

Not selling my services, but I am a dentist and I can charge as low as 5k on a crown. Highest would be around 20k. Iba iba kasi yun eh. You really have to look around. Always remember though, you're paying for the quality of the materials. So siguro sobrang maganda na yung 20k na offered sayo ng dentist mo, but she should have given you other options. Maintenance for crowns, cleaning lang po yun.  :)

The dentist offered me different kinds of crowns. Most expensive I think is made of gold or ivory yata? Forgot na basta way way more expensive pa. The cheapest she offered was iron ba yun? Cant remember. Butas na bulsa ko after all the dental operations I've undergone. :(

Sis, why 5k lang? What's that made of? Will it last long?

What's the maintenance needed? How much and how often?

It's made of stainless steel and porcelain. It looks like the real thing. Tumatagal talaga siya basta alagaan mo. :) Basta sis you pay for the quality of the materials. 5k is 5k and 20k is 20k, you get my drift? :)

Maintenance po is cleaning lang. You've got to have impeccable oral hygiene if you have fixed dentures. :)

Lower molar yung tooth, sis. Maybe it's not that important kung mangitim kasi tago naman siya? Unless pag tumatawa ka and kita yung top ng lower molars and pangit tingnan?

ako pangalawang root canal ko na. yung una nasa 8,5 then second naka discount so 7,5. molars pareho. reasonable price naman yun as per rate posted above ni happyheizel :)

ang motto ko kasi, I better spend on it now kesa magkauwang uwang siya in the future due to bunot, at mas malaki magagastos para irepair pa yun. for me, chaka talaga pag may bungi, di ko keri haha

Couldn't have said it any better sis. Hehe. :) I use 3M on my patients too. Ginagastahan ko talaga ang materials ko eh.

hubby also had a root canal before and sobrang hassle!  swerte sana kasi 2 roots lang yung molar nya (usually 4 sa molar). pero naman! yung isang root eh sobrang curved. ilang beses syang bumalik balik para lang makuha lahat. at kinailangan pa ng espesyalista kasi di na kinaya nung dentist.  tapos sabi nga, kailangan daw ipa-crown kasi hihina daw yung tooth. eh ang mahal!

Hi guys sorry for the late reply, my sister was confined in the hospital for 3 days ako taga alaga eh.  ;D

So anyway, the best FINAL restoration for an endodontically treated tooth is a crown. For really badly broken down ones, nilalagyan pa nga ng post yan eh. But your dentist will determine if kaya na ng pasta. There are cases na ganun kasi eh. But the best talaga is crown. In the first place malaki na ang sira ng tooth, kaya nga ni-root canal eh. :)

Okay na yung crown na 8.5k. Maganda na yun for sure. Basta like I always say, you pay for the quality of the materials.

I'm still a general practitioner but I do root canal treatments as well. Kaya naman ng mga gp yun eh. Except for really curved roots, mejo mahirap. Pero most of the time, kaya namin ang cases. :)

I have super barat and kuripot patients. Samantalang you can never replace a permanent tooth since it never grows back. :) Yun lang po. Wag na tayo manghinayang sa price. Try to go to the states. Ang bunot ko, 300 pesos. Sa states, 300 DOLLARS. So yun lang.  ;D

^ Couldn't agree with u more.  People spend thousands for their hair, manicure, pedicure but they're so stingy with spending for their dental health.  they wouldn't spend 300 pesos for oral prophylaxis but they would spend 2500 for hair rebond.

sis, I suggest you keep ur tooth and have it root canaled.  Mas marami pa rin advantages if u have your natural tooth.  Goodluck and update us here.

^^ sis, i had my final session about 5 days ago. the day after the session ok pa yung tooth ko, but these past 2 days parang mas sumakit. parang there's pain pag nag bite ako sa tooth na yun, so it's not constant pag lang talaga natatamaan. ganon ba talaga?
