Nung nasa SIA ako sis, yugn isang pinay na kasama namin, undergrad sya and na-approve yung pass nya ng MOM. But kung airlines dito sa Pinas, alam ko graduates talaga hinahanap nila.

This thread brings back happy memories of my first ever job as a Ground Stewardess for PAL in Naia. The job is stressful and physically-demanding. But if you're the type who loves customer interface, it could also be very fulfilling. Not to mention the huge travel perks once you're regularized

I used to work for Singapore Airlines as a Passenger Relations Officer sa Changi airport T2/T3. I was hired through an agency, hinde na sila nagdi-direct hire ngayon kase ayaw na nila magbigay ng mga additional benefits. Ok naman sweldo and may OT pay pa yon kaya lang super patay ka talaga sa hours and workload. Masaya naman sana and ok but for personal reasons, i decided to leave SG. still regret that decision, ang arte ko kase eh..

Haha! Sis, same here. I started as GS at PAL too way back late '80s. Yikes! Showing my age     Baka naman I know you?

I started as a PSA under MIASCOR for JL (my principal), and also CZ & MH...stepping stone lang din =) This was during the late 90s.

After that, target talaga is direct hire for the travel benefits, which I was really after anyway.

I joined a Korean air carrier **wink, wink** as an airport operations officer. I transferred departments to resa when I got married.

A few years later, I entered QR MNL as a passenger reservations/ticketing agent.

Ground handling agencies are super great for learning the basics in the airline biz but they usually don't pay much and benefits are next to nil.

help naman mga sis... got a text msg frm PAGSS for an interview for a PSA position... ano po mga feedbacks nyo tungkol sa pagss?? maganda ba na company/work yun?? is it gonna be just sa Naia airport or sa ibang country??? I really dnt have any idea... hindi pa nga ako nagreply kc I don't know if worth it ba pagpunta ko..medjo malayo kc sa place namin ang Naia..sayang sapamasahe...  I don't have any experience on working on an airport but I am currently employed as a CSR in one of the inhouse BPO...like 3 yrs na... help naman mga sises.....

and ano yung mga mismong ginagawa nang PSA?

^ sis I applied sa jobstreet, the next day may text invite agad akong natanggap for an interview.. sadly di ako nakapunta,... may nakausap kc akong frend at sinabi nya na you will have to undergo training for 2 months, without pay or even allowance... I don't know how true..but that's the info I got that is why I just didn't attend the interview.  Hindi naman ako pwede walang pay for 2 mnths since I'm renting a condo.

I really don't have the idea sis if ano ginagawa talaga... well basics, as what I've observed, they assisst passenger or people inside the airport premises if may questions or anything.  Then nakatayo ata whole day...
 
Gusto ko lang naman sana maexperience or as a stepping stone for FA position.. kaya now, hintay nalang ako ng opening for FA..sana may hiring ulit sa international..local kc medjo ang hirap makapasok..mabusisi sila masyado...

I was in SG back then. It was through Kelly Services which is a recruitment agency. You may call them if they're still hiring pinoys. Nagka-issue kase sila with pinoys right after I left. If you are a PR in Singapore then you'd be able to apply with no problems.

I used to work as a PSA, though agency lang handling both local & international carriers. It was fun kasi I got to learn a lot & experience about airport operations. The Old Dom, T1 & T2. Di ko na inabot T3 e. Great stepping stone if you want to be an FA abroad kung nahihirapan ka to pass the initial screenings ng FA job openings (As a PSA, magkaron ka a lot of airport & CRM exposure - most of my former co-PSA's are FA's now) or earn more as a PSA abroad. PSA salary dito is bokya. PAL i heard have better flight benefits though, mahirap lang makapasok. PSA salary is times 3 if you get to work sa airports abroad, you just need to earn some experience locally to have better chances.

As a PSA here, job description includes all airport operations except cargo - you get to experience Checking In of Passengers, Boarding Procedures, Arrival Assistance, VIP assistance, Lost Baggage Procedures - physically & mentally demanding. Todo lakad in your 2-inch heels w/ make up & poise. Kamusta naman ang Jolas legs =) Usually may 1-2 months training for airline codes/procedures & what not, unpaid but w/ allowance. Parang OJT. PSA's are the ones responsible for passengers once they enter the airport up to the time the airplane closes the doors and vice versa. =)

^I'm not there anymore sis but you can prolly still try to inquire if there are posts open. I applied in Kelly Services in Tampines. Search their website na lang. Kung PR ka and they have openings, most likely you'll have greater chances. It was with Singapore Airlines btw.

Did you apply online or just walk-in? which one is better/faster? thanks a lot sis for the infos..

^walk in sis. Matagal sila sumagot sa email. Chaka my apartment was just a stone throw away from their Tampines office kaya we just went there na lang. They interviewed me agad tapos like 3 days after, they called me and scheduled me for the 2nd round of interview. The 2nd round actually has 3 levels of interview hehe.
