^ Ganyan talaga ang mga cheap na "bus" rates in Cambodia and Bangkok, unfortunately. Sabi nga, it's cheap for a reason :-/ It's a choice between comfort and price.. kaya di ako maka tipid sa mga trips kasi I always choose comfort

anyway, i just arrived this week from a backpacking trip w/ my friends. we went to vietnam, cambodia and thailand for 7days. we spent around 20,000 pesos for the entire trip.

i'm thinking of traveling alone next time.
kaya lang paano yung pictures?

during our bangkok trip, i went around on my own cause i've been to the temples w/ my mom a few years ago. kaso kahit isang picture wala akong nakuha.

You can always ask other people to take a photo of you Actually minsan nga sila na mag offer to take your picture eh.

^^ kung mag isa ako sa trip, i'll choose comfort kahit medyo mahal. kaya nga iniisip ko na mag travel ng solo. kasi parang hindi ako gaano natutuwa minsan pag may kasama ako. coz i have to wait for their decision.

pero yung bus trip na yan kaya namin kinuha kasi ayaw na sana namin mag lakad sa border ng thailand.
kasi nung nag bus kami from vietnam to cambodia, bumaba lang kami for the immigration thing lang. tapos sakay agad sa bus. akala namin ganun yun.

kung alam lang namin na pag lalakarin lang din kami at ganun yung kinahantungan namin sa van, sana nagpahatid na lang kami sa guide namin. kasi mas cheaper at mas comfortable pa yun. cheaper kasi 5 kami sa trip.

i'd like to go to singapore-malaysia-indonesia on my own. yun nga lang hindi pa ako nakakapunta dyan kahit kailan. pero ang advantage nyan ay magaling naman yung mga tao dyan magaling english.

as for the pictures, when we were in angkor [textspeak!] i saw a tourist she had a tripod for her solo pictures. sariling sikap sa pictures. baka ganyan din gawin ko, if i could get hold of a tripod.

pero tama ka some people offer to take your pictures. naexperience din namin yan kasi gusto namin ng group pictures so nag seset kami ng camera. pag nakikita nila na medyo mahirap iset up yung camera for a group picture, they offer to take our pictures.

mga sises pwede bang i-day trip ang Batam Indonesia if youre coming from Singapore? gusto ko lang matatakan passport ko and gusto ko lang ma side trip ang indonesia  TIA!

^Yes sis, you could.  It's just a ferry ride away from Harbourfront (?) Mall.  It's 40 minutes away and one-way ticket is S$25.

Sa Peninsular Malaysia, maganda Melaka, Penang and Cameron Highlands. Given your limited time, sa tingin ko ang kaya mo lang gawin sa Malaysia is KL and Melaka kung galing Singapore. If you want to go to Bali, better fly nalang from Singapore or KL. Sale ngayon ang Tiger Airways, baka makakuha ka ng cheap fare to Bali.

kasya ba 'to, plano ko kasi mag-Bangkok na kami sa gabi (may 8:55 flight to Bangkok) or di kaya?

Day 3 - Grand Palace, W-A-T Arun, W-A-T Pho, shopping sa mall and Ocean World
Day 4 - Ayutthaya and Siam Niramit
Day 5 - Chatuchak
ETD: 12:35 am - August 23 Bangkok

^Sis, Malacca is 2 hours one-way from KL.  I don't think your 1st day is feasible.  As for Day 2, I've read in a blog that it can be done but you'll have to arrange your private transport (maybe hire a cab) because trying to catch the train schedules is difficult.  Alanganin kayo, especially since you have a flight to Bangkok.  Genting is more than an hour away from KL and that's via the Genting bus and cable car pa ha (yung package).  If you're planning on commuting pa, mas mahaba pa ang travel time.

Your Bangkok iti is fine.

yummy_yan: if your flight is at 8:55pm, the latest you have to be at the airport is 8:10pm (this is if you're taking AirAsia; check-in closes 45minutes before departure). Of course, it's always better to be there at least an hour and a half, because you never know if there's going to be a long queue in the check-in counters and immigration. You have to take this in consideration, as well as your travel time to the airport. The airport in Kuala Lumpur is far from the city, and traffic in KL can get pretty heavy din.

What do you plan to do between midnight to 8am? Will you go to your hostel or stay at the airport? There are buses and vans that go straight to either Genting (http://www.dynamicpackages.biz/package/eazy/order_item_module.cfm?pacID=PK080000974&comID=CM08000018) or Melaka (http://www.transnasional.com.my/), kaso both buses leave at 9am pa.

Consider taking out Batu Caves from your itinerary, unless you are hiring a car that would take you directly from there to Genting or Melaka.

Btw, the Petronas Towers is prettier at night. It's not worth lining up to go up the sky bridge.

I've been planning on an SG-KL-BKK trip this March with a friend. After reading thru forum posts & travel blogs, we still can't decide where to stay in Singapore. We want to limit our budget to 75 SGD or less for a room. Can anyone please suggest a clean, decent place that is not too far away from public transportation and everything else? We were initially considering to book at Hotel 81, but we read somewhere that their hotels are usually located at the red light districts, and that some working girls bring their customers there.

Also, another concern -- why is it cheaper to travel from SG to KL via Tiger Airways (.09 SGD) than to ride the Aeroline bus (43SGD)? Is there a catch somewhere? Sorry for this kind of question, but my friend and I are first time travellers to SG-KL-BKK.

^ That 0.09 doesnt' include taxes pa. Madalas na talaga ngayon, cheaper yung plane fare between SG and KL than bus fares.

Btw, can you recommend Hotel 81 as a good place to stay?

^sis, nakapagstay na kami sa Hotel 81. we were supposed to stay sa New Seventh Story Hostel pero grabe fully booked that time so kakalakad namin at kakacheck ng mga available hotels near the area, ayun, napilitan kami patulan na lang yan hotel 81 kasi yun na yun pinakamura na nakita namin at pagod na pagod na kami kakalakad dahil madaling araw na rin nun.

super sikip nun rooms. walang window pa nga yata. tapos yun CR super sikip din. pero malinis naman in fairness. yun nga lang maliit talaga yun rooms. parang nakaka suffocate.

Gusto ko kasi sana magtipid sa accommodation dahil short stay lang kami sa Singapore. From there, plano namin mag-Kuala Lumpur then Bangkok sana.

^hmmm...safe naman sis. wala naman nawala sa mga gamit namin. pero di rin naman kasi kami masyado nagtagal dun. halos madaling araw na kasi nun nag check in kami nun (galing kasi kami sa KL) tapos kinaumagahan lumabas kami then bumalik lang nung tanghali para mag check out.

search mo rin yun new seventh storey hostel sis. eto kasi yun sikat na hostel na nasearch ko noon e.

^ Naku, dyan sana 'yung first choice ko dahil sa mga reviews sa Trip Advisor at mura talaga. Kaso nung pinuntahan ko 'yung website, hindi na pala sila nag-ooperate dahil inacquire na ng government.

mga sis napansin ko pala na sa SG nag aaccept sila ng credit card sa mga taxi. may nakapag try na ba sa inyo na gamitin yun locally issued card nyo to pay for the taxi fare?

saka anong mga countries pa sa SEA ang may ganito rin na system? astig kasi. so kung kulang dala mong currency, you can always use your cc.

^I think I've used my Visa card before once or twice in a cab.  It has a surcharge of 10% (?) though. 

I'm not in SEA but here in Australia, you can use your credit / debit / bank cards almost anywhere.
