@sis fornanina. This is my draft budget - basta dapat pasok sa Php 100,000 lang:

Airfare: $1,000
Package: $1,000-$1,200 for 10 days
Pocket Money: $600-700.

Cairo pa lang naresearch ko. Haven't read a lot about Luxor and Alexandria. But since these are usually in the packages naman, so...go na rin!

I am not sure if I could commit with my initial plan of 2013 though.  I've decided to prioritize my funds and allocate my precious VLs for another trip. I hope you'll still push through with your plans.

I was thinking of joining Contiki but I find it too expensive for 8-9 days lang. I read in Tripadvisor that it is really advisable to go with tours. Although possible ang DIY, I think it will be such a hassle (lots of harassment on the females).

I agree. sis fornarina, I strongly suggest na you join a tour group na lang. ang hirap kasi pag DIY. tapos kung gusto mo pumunta sa dead sea, sa jordan or israel yun. kami sa israel kami at parang hindi sya basta basta madaling puntahan. malayo sya sa Tel Aviv. kung pupunta ka din lang dun, mag-tour ka na din ng israel (or jordan) bilang nandun ka na. sayang naman. hence, ang suggestion ko is to get the holy land package na para masulit yung pagpunta mo sa area na iyon ng mundo. may kamahalan nga lang.

pero as aquacharly said, this time is not the best time to go there. magulo eh.

coming back to Egypt this October. I first visited this country back in 2010. I was alone so it made it more
exciting. Now I'll be travelling with hubby. May civil unrest so exciting parin. Harharhar hay I am looking into
the brighter side of things nalang. We already paid for our tickets before the unrest began. Oh well I've been
reading from the tripadvisor forums and westerners who pushed through with their trip said it was okay and
they did not feel unsafe and enjoyed their trip. DIY lang kami as usual. 3 days only. Singit lang naman ito sa Holyland
trip namin eh.

Will lodge my visa application this week. First time to apply here in Manila. First one was applied in the middle east
where I used to reside. Dahil sa mga rally na yan siguro naman they wont deny a crazy traveler to visit their country
amidst all of those.

I vow to get a better picture while "kissing the Sphinx".And hug my camel too. Lol yung friend ko may hug the camel picture and cute lang.

We're going to Egypt in May specifically in Dahab because my bf will go diving there with his dive group. Sa totoo lang, I'm scared to go kasi the other day lang me pinasabog na bus ng tourists and nabasa ko na theý're targeting tourists now so lalo ako kinabahan. Pinaparinggan ko nga siya na magulo sa Egypt ngayon kung gusto pa nya tumuloy but we already paid so wala ng backout. I'll just pray na everything will be safe.

Hindi na din kami natuloy sa Egypt back in October since the DFA raised the alert level to 4. I called the bureau of immigration and they told me they will hold me lang daw sa airport so we just rebooked and went to Jordan instead. I do pray for peace all over Egypt.

Updating: Thank God di na kami tuloy. The travel agency will not push through with Egypt so they just refunded our payment.

Egyp t is super ganda! Napaka kakaiba niya sa lahat ng napuntahan ko. I've been there twice in 2015 and 2017. I traveled solo on my first trip and I accompanied my sister on the second trip. I had a friend who went recently.Not much has changed from what i've gathered from her experience. Honestly, I don't recommend a "backpacking style" on your own. Mas safer kapag you go on an organized tour. Kasi pag mag-isa ka lang hindi ka tatantanan ng mga vendors, caleche driver's - sakit sa ulo. This doesn't have to be too expensive. If you are staying at a hostel, they organize group trips. Basta you are in a group and/or you are with a tour guide, kasama na doon ang transportation. They pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. At least less hassle. But this is just my opinion. On my first trip kamuntik na akong itanan ng taxi driver na nasakyan ko from the hotel pa yon (long story).
Anyways, places not to be missed:

1. Luxor - Valley of the kings (my 2nd favorite place), Karnak
2. Aswan - The temple of Abu Simbel ( my favorite site), also Nubia museum if you do go to Aswan.
3.Cairo - Cairo museum and of course the pyramids and sphinx

Avoid like the plague:
1. Felluca rides - It would be nice to go on a boat tour on the Nile, but I've always been warned about this by my tour guides so I never really tried it. Marami daw cases of harassment from some of these unscrupulous characters so I never bothered.
