Anyone who has attempted a trip to Egypt outside of a tour package?  Sana merong magpost.  I don't mind riding not so popular airlines because I'd rather spend on food and the experience than travel.

I went to Egypt Sept 28- 30. ALONE. i Just went to Cairo and rode the camel hahahahaha. I booked the hotel which is located in Giza para malapit sa pyramids. Got a good deal like 35 usd with free buffet breakfast. Ang mahal sa Cairo ang kalat pa. Its like Binondo in the desert. lol

I ddnt go to Luxor nor Alexandrea anymore. Maybe next time pag kasama ko na boyfriend ko.

^@sis vain_kixie: Wow! Solo Egypt! How was the experience. This is also in my travel bucket. I've been reading and parang hindi recommended na mag-DIY ang solo female. Eh yun pa naman ang balak kong gawin.

How manageable is it? I understand na medyo unstable ang situation from time to time pero sana okay na ang situation by 2013. (cross fingers)

Sis when I went there hindi pa magulo yung government nila. Thank God nakapunta na ako before everything went crazy in that part of the world. Yes, its really not recommended to go alone especially kung female ka. Pero baliw lang ako talaga and super malakas talaga loob ko. plus I only went around Cairo hindi na ako ngpunta ng Luxor which is like 8 hours away ata from the Cairo. I did not go to Alexandria narin so medyo less din yung risk.

Mahirap ang language barrier sobra! They hardly know english. Imagine pag sinabi ko Egyptian museum di parin nila alam.,. dapat talaga may kasama kang marunong mag arabic. Pag hindi makaintindi ng english yung taxi driver hindi ako sasakay. Ang target ko lang talaga is to see the pyramids of Giza and to ride the camel hehe so kung ganun lang din target mo very manageable siya.

Hindi naman sila rapist or anything, overprice lang sila sa foreigners. So para sakin, maubusan na ako ng pera, wag lang ako ma rape. If you have that mindset go!! It's one of my best adventures!!!

^aside from arabic one of their main language is also spanish. and yes mahirap pag d kamarunong mag arabic or spanish. reklamo rin ng mother in-law ko na super taga sila sa mga tourists.

Di advisable to go to Cairo these days. I just got back and wala silang masyadong systema dun kasi walang leader. And medyo delikado ang mga demonstrations dun kasi laging may namamatay. And yes, ang dumi talaga. Talo ang Manila sa kadumihan. And wala akong nakitang traffic light dun.

They are building a new museum near the pyramids which is going to be larger. 2015 yata siya matatapos, ililipat dun ang lahat ng nasa Cairo/Egyptian Museum. I say, go by then. Sana rin, okay na ang bansa nila. Kasi, sobrang sayang.

I went on a tour group (pilgrimage) and medyo nabitin ako. I want to go back when everything is well and peaceful.

@sis vain_kixie: Ang goal ko rin ay pyramids and a shot riding a camel. I'm researching and parang hindi talaga recommended solo DIY. I hope maging stable na ang situation doon.

wow! you went there alone? galing mo! i went there last year pero with a group. di ko ma-imagine pano magtravel dun alone. ang dumi, ang gulo, ang hirap makipagusap.. pero kebs na lang dahil ang ultimate goal ko sa buhay (travel category hehe) ay makapagpapicture sa pyramids

Can you share where did you avail of your tour package and how much would it cost? I am eyeing on a 10-day trip. Parang airfare would cost $1,000 and the tour package would be another $1,000-1,200 USD. How about pocket money and souvenirs kaya?

hi girls wanna go to egypt too and visit the pyramids, it's been my dream since watching the mummy when i was a kid and also i want to go and pass by the dead sea sa jordan, malapit lang kaya yun? since i'm there na sayang naman yung opportunity.... may i also ask the budget of going to egypt? sis vain_kixie and sis slurpee?

my trip was last 2010 pa tapos 3 days lang ako. I really just wanted to ride the camel and see the pyramids so sa Cairo lang ako. A  friend went to Alexandria and Luxor but did not recommend it to me since i was travelling alone plus it wasnt worth the 8 hour travel daw. I'll review my files and share it here as to how much I spent.

pero sisses if egypt lang saka dead sea ang target ko would it be more cost effective kaya than the whole Holy land tour? kasi ang alam ko mga $4000 ang holy land tour e. I want sana egypt and dead sea lang. Most probably will be travelling alone so i think i have to join a tour group. TIA

Isn't dead sea in Jordan and Israel? Wala sa Egypt yun alam ko.

I do not know how safe Egypt is now after the government changes. Again I traveled before things went crazy there. Sa Cairo kayang kaya mo mag tour mag isa. Places to see are: Pyramids, the nile, citadel and Egyptian museum only.

If mag Luxor and Alexandria ka I think mag group tour ka na since it involves traveling by land mga 8 hours to Luxor.

I will really really try to remember how much it cost me. Naalala ko lang I rode the camel to the pyramids plus tour guide= 270 egyptian pounds. Plus tip. Hay nako malakas humingi ng tip ang mga egyptians.

100 pounds taxi to the airport from my hotel. Hotel taxi na ito. I was too lazy to hail one tapos di rin naman makakaintindi ng english. Pero alam ko airport to Giza mga 70-80 pounds.

is there a big diff sa cairo ang luxor? saw nga sa news ang gulo sa cairo ngayon hopefully magstabilize na sila

Sis wag na natin isama airfare ha kasi dati I have access to the cheapest airfare possible kasi flight attendant ako kaya 90%off ang ticket ko.

Hotel ko I bought in agoda. 30 usd lang ata yun or 35usd with free breakfast. Medyo backpacker type kasi ako mag travel. I don't go for five star hotels since I do experience those things from my company so when I travel alone 50usd/night lang budget ko. Decent naman yung hotel I stayed in, food was good, rooms are really clean.

If I were you since nandoon ka na mag Luxor ka na din. Ang alam ko lang ang meron sa Alexandria is the oldest Library in the world. At that time kasi pupunta din ako sa India kaya hindi na ako ng Luxor plus ang layo nga.

I have a friend who visited may 2011. Nakabalik naman siya ng buhay. Lakasan lang talaga ng loob. My thinking when traveling alone: Manakawan na wag lang ma rape.

Naalala ko na 20k lang pocket money ko for that 3 days (hotel not included since I paid hotels.com using my cc.. Super kasya naman1 I even bought oil perfume and papyrus painting.

Di na ako ng Nile river cruise because I get sea sick easily. Gusto ko lang mag camel riding at pyramids so ayun hehe

Super duper mega kalat sa Egypt ha. Super hard seller din mga tao. Talo ako sa tawaran dito.
