I have a lot of projects coming up, but I want to start small if that's OK to see if we work well together?"

I disagree. I met a lot of freelancers who weren't underpaid.

I consider myself justly paid - neither under nor over.

Many of those "justly-" and "over-" paid ones are tied up into bigger projects or are working long term already on one or several clients, that's why there is no need for them to look for more work anymore. And because they had established themselves, they may have hidden their profiles already from odesk search - so you are mostly seeing underpaid ones.

^I agree.

i have heard that facebook is also hiring from odesk pero it's hush hush lang. dollar per hour daw ang rate. nagleak lang lately.

di ko naman nilalahat kaya sabi ko "nagiging", but i'm happy to all of you na paid justly. yung nakikita ko nga lang siguro yung mga underpaid. kase yung mga ibang employers are taking advantage dun sa mga nagbibid ng super baba just to get the client kahit na grabe yung hinahanap na qualification. i feel so bad talaga. kahit ako i have to lower the bid din just to equate yun rate ng average applicants.

@fatgirlslim - it may be true also, that those underpaid ones are still starting out, or have few jobs. If that's the case, don't feel bad.

Another situation where rates are slashed - they are usually part time workers. They just want extra money to make ends meet.

Full time workers who had been months into freelancing learned to get higher rates.

@tiggerlily - true, it's sad to hear less than a dollar rates. It's a long time issue in odesk, even at that time when there were so few pinoys there.

The facebook thing, is possible. Outsourcing helps in reducing operational costs. I've recently heard one leading search engine company hire people from odesk. oDesk itself, is also outsourcing work. I've seen quite a few Filipino moderators among the odesk forums.

@heavensent - tried reinstalling? have you contacted odesk support?

Pwede ba mag work sa odesk using a netbook instead of a laptop or desktop? Mas maliit kasi netbook diba so mas maliit din spec.  ???
