homemade dog food

my concern is if its ok to feed my 7week pup ng mga may buto na homemade food???

omg! dont! i think 7 weeks is just too young... milk pa dapat yan, i think... or yung softened puppy pellets.

edited to add:  milk teeth pa sila at that age... mga 4th month pa yang magche-change ng teeth. di kakayanin at baka malulon ng buo yung buto.

my pup is now 4 months old. he enjoys shredded boiled chicken + chicken stock + carrots + rice... sometimes i substitute carrots with baby corn.

yung 2 adult dogs ko nagsawa sa meat sawdust so same nalang silang 3 ng diet.

We are planning to feed our dog homemade dog food na boiled meat and veggies. We were thinking pwede kaya na iprepare at lutuin na ang meat and veggies good for 1 week tapos init-initin na lang every time papakainin siya?

siguro yung meat dapat i-freeze kung ganun katagal... yung veggies baka good lang sa ref for 3 days max.

ako kasi i boil chicken and carrots na good for 3 days only... i dont really cook. eto nga lang 1st time. hehe... so im just following US food safety.

Nowadays I've switched from dog food. Have already gone through several brands but their bodies aren't as firm and packed nor their coats as lustrous as when I've been feeding them natural food. So now I'm back to homemade doggie meals.

Every weekend, I buy from the market in bulk, yung mga buto-buto and some chunks of  pork and beef. Chicken is alright as long as you don't feed 'em the bones. I boil em store em in the freezer in portions that's just enough for a day's meals.

I also buy those mixed veggies (chopsuey/pakbet) packs at the market. They're cheaper and can provide roughage for their tummies.

I mix them all up with rice and corn. I cook a large batch then leftovers stored in the fridge. That's good for a couple days.

So most everything's cooked in one day, stored, then reheated and mixed as needed.  Para di kailangang araw araw magluto. Saves time and gas.

Buti na lang di picky eaters mga alaga ko even if I cook the meat with as little seasoning as possible. They like meat fruits and veggies. I just avoid feeding them yung mga bawal like onions, grapes, chocolate.

To add: since my neighborhood's practically dotted with malunggay, I incorporate a lot of it into my dogs' food. That, meat and bones, mung beans, eggs, veggies, a lil protein mix, vitamins, and dog milk. Now they're all quite muscular and more energetic compared to the dogfood diet era.

have you guys tried BARF?  raw feeding sha. 
we tried it on our dogs... si margaux, our rottie,  is so hiyang! ang laki ng katawan and ganda ng coat.  siksik at maskulada.

pati si disney, my shih tzu, used to be so taba and ang tigas ng katawan and happy with BARF.  kaso,  si disney developed allergies to the chicken.  pure barf kasi sha eh.  kaya i had to stop kasi nagkaron sha ng skin rashes.  sayang nga eh.
pero si margaux, tuloy pa din. 

BARF namin is raw tripe or chicken cut up and mixed with rice and some dogfood.  yung chicken, usually neck.  gupit gupit mo lang and serve as is.  sa monterery kami bumibili.  hilaw sha and very natural.

wow. keep them coming! i am considering giving them rice and veggies too. ang pinapakain ko kasi sa mga boston terriers ko dog food at may chicken liver lang. i'll try some of your posts when I get my net working at home.

Mga sis, Winter is almost 2 months old. Pwede ko na kaya sya bigyan ng sawdust and mixed with veggies na chop ko na lang into small pieces? wala pa kasi sya talaga ipin. Maliit pa yung sa pangil nya Dog food kasi kinakain nya ngayon. Once in a while I give her fruits like banana and apple. Advise naman. Thank you!

hi mga sisses, we have a 10mo-old shih and balak na din namin pakainin ng homemade doggie food. parang sawa na sa dry food, dati vitality hi energy then we switched to beef pro. based sa mga nabasa ko dito sa thread, ok ang carrots & other veggies and rice? natatakot na kasi kami dahil naconfine na yun dati bec of liver problem at muntik nang matsugi. di naman dahil sa kinakain kundi sa kala lysol namin sa bahay.
what about fruits? anong safe? lam ko bawal ang grapes. thanks sa mga infos na shini share nyo.

^dinilaan nya sis yung lysol? sa amin araw araw din nag lysol at zonrox buti di naman nila na-lick yung floor. though alam nila na bawal lumakad kapag nalilinis ako ng bahay kaya nakasampa sila sa silya. hehe

I boil lean ground pork (yung nabibili sa supermarket) and mix diced potato & carrots. Minsan nilalagyan ko ng konti soy sauce & vinegar para amoy adobo (hehe).

I boil diced potato & carrots, kapag konti na lang yung water nilalagyan ko ng liver spread. 

Hinahalo ko yan sa dry dog food nila & nilalagyan ko rin ng konting rice.

Yung niluluto ko good for 2 days na, nilalagay na lang sa ref tapos ilalabas 1 hour before sila kumain, ayun naamoy na nila, kaya kapag kakain na sobrang takam na sila hehe.

^ok kala dinidilaan yung floor, pag puppy kasi napansin ko nadila sila sa floor. 

pwede sis ang fruits, like banana kaso saba lang kinakain ni cindy at sa lahat ng dogs ko sya lang kumakain ng saging pero saba lang, ayaw nya yung ibang saging. banana que favorite nya din. sabagay matakaw yung aso kong yun, pati ampalaya gusto nya, gusto nyang taktak ko lahat yung ampalaya sa pinggan nya.

Siguro pag nag 1 yr old na yung shih ko, mas confident na kong iintroduce sya sa veggies like carrots & potatoes. Medyo takot pa ko e kahit ang dami ko nang nababasa dito na kumakain ng homemade foods ang mga pets nila. First-time pet-owner kasi ng me breed.

might switch to raw feeding ro alternate with dog food kapag 6months na yung pup ko. pero ngayon, she's 4months, i give carrots. tulong na din sa teething at paglinis ng ngipin.

banana, favorite din ng puppy ko pero hinay lang din, baka maging constipated naman.

yes bawala ang chocolate kasi may substance yun na toxic sa dogs and onion, nakabababa ng dugo.

i bought saw dust kanina sa monterey. niluto ko tapos sinamahan ko ng gulay na pang chopseuy. nagustuhan ng mga boston ko, 2 bowl ang naubos bawat isa! nakakatuwa talaga. rice at konting dog food ang hinalo ko tsaka yung niluto ko. madami kasi akong nabiling dogfood kaya sinasama ko rin sa pagkain nila, sayang naman.

yung 2 kung mas matandang aso di gusto sawdust, pero ok sa kanila boiled chicken breast fillet.

this is how i do it too... super taka lang talaga ako dun sa 2 kasi maski ground beef or ground pork ayaw nila... pero pag chicken, kinakain. grrr!
