To my younger self 20 years ago:

You're going to hate me for telling you this, but sorry to say, Mama and Papa are right. You need to study!  You need to form actual study and work habits.  This will serve you in good stead until, well, forever!  Tamad ka mag-aral ngayon?  hanggang pagtanda mo, tamad ka pa rin.  Lagi kang late ngayon?  Nakow, ganun ka pa rin pagtanda.  You need to change NOW.

If you study now, you get good grades, and you get to choose a good college course.  Here's a tip: choose a course that has something to do with computers.  It's the future!  (And not to mention IT jobs generally pay big.)  Those courses are heavy in math and science so, really, you have to shape up and burn the midnight oil to be really good in those.  Forget those useless liberal arts courses!  Pang anak-mayaman lang ang mga yan.  You're not a trust fund baby, so don't waste your time and effort on a specialization that won't get you financially independent at the soonest possible time.

Lastly, don't be too insecure about your virginity.  Believe me, it's not that big a deal.  You can worry about that when you're in your 20s.  (And just between the 2 of us, at some point, you'd actually lose count of the number of women you'd sleep with.  So really, there's nothing to worry about in that regard)

You could have been less vain. Kaya ayan, you gotta keep up with that lifestyle... like, you don't need to blow dry your hair everyday for the last 10 years or so, but because nasanay ka, you can't kick the habit. Also, if you kept your nails "virgin", you'd mostly have healthier and stronger nails and cuticles.

To my 19 year old me,

Alam ko mahirap yung pinagdadaanan mo ngayon at mas mahirap pa yung mga mapagdadaanan mo pa in the future, hindi birong maging single mom. Trust me on this pero makakayanan mo lahat yan.

In 10 years makikita mo na lang lahat ng hirap at pagod at luha mo, worth it.

Spend lots of time with daddy, biglaan kasi sya kukunin satin ni God eh. Sulitin mo na habang nandyan pa siya.

You can do this!!  You really can!

There are people and things that you should steer clear of permanently, despite wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt.

You are braver and more capable than you think.

Diligence is a very important value in life. It's not enough to work hard. Work should be done with due diligence.

Dear Younger Me,

1.    Don’t be too desperate to be in a relationship.  It’s okay to be single than be with substandard men who couldn’t land a good job, who couldn’t even pay for Jollibee and whose family values are very different from yours.  As much as possible, marry someone from the same social status and same Catholic upbringing.
2.   You are pretty.  Don’t even think that because no one good courted you in college means you are ugly.  8 years from now you’ll see your picture in a 100x150 feet billboard along the C5 Katipunan Skyline.  The guy you’re seeing right now?  He’s an ugly loser.
3.   Take your first job’s training seriously.  Your career is important than any guy.  Job hopping isn’t a good thing.  Don’t let good companies slip your way.
4.   Your standard for men varies from time to time.   What you wanted when you were just 15 would be different from what you want right now.  And just the same, your standard now would be improved when you reach 24.  And your standard would be better when you turn 28.
5.   Don’t spend too much on shopping.  Save for a rainy day.
6.   You will make your parents proud because you will pass the ECE board exam.
7.   You will love travelling but I warn you, you’ll fall in love with it by mending a broken heart.
8.   Take care of your heart.  No one can allow it to get broken except you.
9.   You are so lucky to have your parents and your brother.

The older, smarter You.

Start eating clean early on. Don't wait for the moment that you need to eat healthy before doing so. Decide to eat healthy as early as you can!

To My 15 year old self,

You know what? You didn't have to go into a relationship so early in life. Perhaps, your life would have been so much different today if you had made that decision differently. In fact, is is alright to be single at such a tender age. Be smart enough to know that just because the situation seems convenient, fairy tale like even, that's it's meant to be. Finally, you'll realize when you grow old and grow apart that... kaloka ha? He's ______ pala? Oh my gosh!

I was on my early teens then!

Mag exercise ka. Wag puro aral at pagpapaka-nerd. Eat healthy! Be confident. Gayahin yung ibang girls na nagsisimula nang ma conscious sa katawan.

Don't cry a lot. Be strong. Use the right bra size. Be more hygienic. Wag magpapaapekto sa sinasabi ng iba. Alagaan ang sarili. Make the right choices in life. =)

Ten years from now, you'll be doing your own laundry, scrubbing your own bathroom floor, and disinfecting your own darn toilet (all in one day), and it'll be the best feeling in the world. You are not too good for the small stuff. Be humble. Never think too highly of yourself. Stay human. And just be happy always with what you've got. It's not a crime to want more, but keep in mind that there are a whole lot of things that are more important than titles, recognition, selfish ambition, and pride.

Oh, and two years from now, you'll be getting your first perm. It's going to be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

I'd be 14, turning 15 in a couple of months.

>Watch your weight. Don't wait 10 years later before making a move.
>Assert yourself. Stop being afraid of your mother.
>Start making your own decisions and showing your personality to your family.
>You'll soon meet a great guy. Huwag maging manhid!
