^^^If your baby needs special water (Dr Edwards/Wilkins) for his/her consumption, it's better to bring your own.  When my baby was smaller I had to bring kasi she got diarrhea kapag bottled water lang (boiled Wilkins lang ang pang-milk nya).  I think yung free na binibigay sa plane (PAL) yung tig-2L ata na Absolute; that's for everyone na so bukas na yun (and went up and down the aisles na), so you can't be too sure about the cleanliness (for your baby).  Or, like pinkpotato suggested, buy the small unopened bottles na lang from them (maybe you need to ask which brand they offer/you prefer).

hey meron mga babies na kelangan distilled ang water pang hugas sa hands ha. mga pamangkin ko dati distilled pangligo at panghugas and should be wilkins kasi nagkaka amoeba sila pag ibang brand tapos sensitive skin din.

at may mga nanay din na kasi nakasanayan na distilled gamit sa baby kahit panghugas lang. before 1 year old daughter ko, distilled water use

babyluvs, depende sa airlines pero ang cebu pac they sell it i think kasi yung kasabay namin nanghingi, di binigyan nag cash out ba for a bottled water.

sisses, i'm so confused! i have some questions re: passport application for one month old baby.

1) Birth Certificate
Sumakit ulo ko dito sa gulo ng instructions sa'kin via phone (Caloocan City Hall) -- vs. pag andun na actual yung assistant ko. HAY! I was told via phone that I can get the CTC from the local registrar on the same day (which I did). They said I can use the CTC for passport application. But when I called the NSO, dapat daw authenticated nila. So I asked NSO the procedure for authetication. Ipabalik ko lang daw dun yung CTC from registrar and tatatakan nila. But when my secretary went here, di daw ganun ang procedure. They gave her a transmittal receipt instead. And then follow-up ko daw sa East Ave. yung [textspeak!] on SECPA(?). It will take 3 weeks daw for that? Is that right? And 3 months daw for the NSO copy?  Where can I get the REAL info on such things? Naguguluhan na talaga ako.

2) PASSPORT (DFA appointment system)
Since I thought I already have all the requirements for my baby's application ([textspeak!] CTC, pic, etc.), I set an appointment online. Then I found out that the next available date is June 9 pa! Gosh. Just last February, my hubby renewed his passport via online appt., and he was scheduled the next day. I called the hotline and asked if there's any way to get scheduled earlier. Wala daw, unless somebody cancels their appointment. Anyway, I want to confirm the requirements so iniisa-isa ko yung nasa list ko -- [textspeak!], pic of baby, Marriage Certificate. The phone agent told me di daw kailangan ng pic ng baby -- PERSONAL APPEARANCE daw! Is this true? Parang nag-alala naman ako bigla. Sa dami ng tao dun, the chances of baby getting germs sobra-sobra. And what if baby is asleep or uncooperative while it's his turn for pictorial?

re birth certificate sis if you really need to get a passport for your baby asap, for the mean time you may use the SECPA muna since it will really take few months pa talaga before you can get a copy of an authenticated birth certificate from NSO.

Personal appearance of minor with either parent if parents are married.
Personal appearance of minor with mother (if minor is of illegitimate status).
Personal appearance of mother (if minor is 7yrs old & below).
Passport of person traveling with the minor, original and photocopy.

delphinos2005, from what i know SECPA ang needed for your baby's passport application. that means that the birth certificate is printed on a security paper, hence the term SECPA. i think the SECPA is already the NSO certified-copy

kuwento ko lang yung nangyari sa amin for my daughter's birth certificate. minamadali namin to get the SECPA since we need to delcare my daughter's birth sa embassy nila hubby. thats the requirement to be able to get the DFA certificate that we need to forward to the embassy.

anyway, when i was reviewing the birth cert, i notice nagkamali yung date of marriage (oh i was really pissed off with my hubby for not scrutinizing the paper before signing it). we tried habulin yung doc sa qc city hall but unfortunately it was already forwarded to NSO. when we went to the NSO office in East Ave, the birth certificate was not yet in digitized form. meaning it was still in the process of being scanned and entered into their database. that process usually takes 2-4months, depending if gaano katagal bago i-forward ni hospital to city/municpal hall yung birth cert, then the city/municipal hall to NSO regional office then from the regional office to the archives. just think of it, my daughter was born july 30 and around dec wala pang digitized copy yung birth cert ng daughter ko. btw, the transmittal report is the report the they attach to a batch of birth certificate when they foward the docs to NSO. kaya binigay yun sa yo so you can follow up sa east ave to know whats the status of the particular batch. anyway, a personnel there in East Ave told us since we are in a hurry to get the SECPA, we need to go the NSO archives (along EDSA). 

the following day we went to the archives and looked for the contact person there. we had to wait for about 3-4 hours for them to look for the doc within their archives, correct the marriage date and then have it printed on a SECPA. oh btw the waiting time includes waiting for them to finish putting on their makeup and waiting for them to return from their coffee breaks.

i suggest you go directly already to East Ave and inquire there. they will be able to give the name of the people you will need to get in touch with sa archives to fast-track the digitizing of the birth cert. and if it is possible too ikaw na din ang mag-ayos. mahirap kasi if you still have a middle man between you and NSO. at least you will be able to answer immediately any queries from NSO at the same time if you have questions matatanong mo kaagad. and no lost in translation moments. no offense meant to your secretary but sometimes that happens. at least if nandun ka, you can easily ask for clarifications. hth

hi mga sis, sk ko lang 1 month stay kami sa US. ok lang bana i-transfer sa lock n lock yung milk or stay as it is in can nalang para no problem or hassle sa immigration? kayo ano ginawa nyo? thanks again!

^Ako din, 3 weeks sa US, alis namin sa Tuesday. Bringing cans na lang din of milk in may checked baggage..but mga 4-5 servings sa milk containers in our hand carry...I'll just ask water from the cabin crew. Taking two kids along with me.

^I should have said,"...in MY checked baggage..." heehee...didn't notice it sooner. My son is 6 while my daughter is 4. I'm travelling with my MIL on the trip going there but solo ako with the kids on the way back. My hubby was supposed to travel along with us but his leave was suspended kasi kulang silang pilots sa division nya sa PAL so I'm bracing myself kasi first time ko maglong haul with kids. Ok lang if I'm alone. No stopover cos we're taking PAL. Around 12hrs to SFO. Wish me luck! =)

by the way, i took cebu pacific last sunday from Singapore to Manila and Manila to Singapore yesterday.. mukang ok ang service nila from Manila to Singapore.. they're allowing those with kids to board first.. then nag offer sila na iintercept sa icheck-in mga hand carry nila.. their service at terminal 3 is better than when they were at the old airport..

does anyone have experience in bringing "handcarrried" sterilizer and stroller on local flights?

we'll be visiting my hubby's family in silay at the end of the month and my baby is only 7 months old so we need a sterilizer.. 5 days lang kami dun..ayaw ko pakuluan ang mga bottles baka masira..

possible ba mag handcarry ng elec. steam sterilizer? or i-check in ko pa sya? di kaya masira yun pag naka-check in yun? tsaka stroller pala ni baby.
