Maternal and Childbirth classes

I am so interested to attend one, although I am doing my research and been makulit with my OB plus a lot of shared experiences from people and moms around me, gusto ko pa din umattend ng ganito.

Luckily, while browsing Asian Hospital's website I saw Maternal classes in their Genesis Center.

It's two(2) half-day sessions conducted by OBs, Pedias there. Next sessions will be on October 17 and October 24, 8AM-12NN

It's for free naman daw, the one who answered my call when I inquired just asked who my OB is. I think open naman sya kahit hindi don yung OB or hindi ka there manganganak.

I think it will be a helpful one for childbearing and childrearing, also a great way to bond with other expectant moms.

I'm gonna attend.

Any other maternal classes that you know? I wanna know more about normal delivery in particular. I don't know what to expect e, aside from the worse, as they say.

Dami ko gustong malaman parang ABCs, hindi lang from the sabi-sabi or research kasi dami ko talaga gusto malaman:
paano pumili ng pedia; differences ng birthing/ labor/ delivery rooms, (meron pang isang type of room, forgot ko);
daming mga gadgets ng baby (receiving clothes, Onenies, milk bottles, various diapers, etc);
how to breastfeed, until when, what if working mom; how to bathe/ clean the baby, what to avoid in the crib (against suffocation), etc.
At marami pang iba...

Although I am attending a paid childbirth class now, I'm not yet super-convinced that it was a good buy

Pero super-ok yung na-attendan ko na free Breastfeeding Seminar sa TMC. (Wala nang sked for 2010, baka sa 2011 na) Meron din silang forum on childbirth and baby care (Parenting 101) this Sat, Nov 27, 1-5pm.

Meron din atang mga class sa Makati Med. Magtanong na lang kayo sa information kasi I lost the info na

thanks for the info, nagka idea ako.
I checked yung website ng Asian hospital, dati kasi nakikita ko mga poster dun. ang ganda nung free class conducted last Oct, nakita ko sa website ang mga topics.  For the next classes, eto nagreply sakin:

"Thank you for your inquiry.  Our next scheduled ‘Simply Maternal’ will be on February 19 and 25 and then on April 16 and 23.  Do log on to www.asianhospital.com for any updates."
Check nyo nalang mga sis ang mga topics for the Feb & April 2011 classes.  Sana free ulit and sana maraming topics gaya ng Oct.  First choice ko yung Feb, kasi due ako MayEnd... para marami na akong alam agad...

^ i attended the simply maternal seminar last june. They hold it every other month. The topics are always the same yata but the featured topic is different each time.

The seminar is good considering it's free. Daming freebies and may snacks pa. But the topics are not discussed in so much detail kasi halos 1 hour lang per topic. Like an hour for breastfeeding, an hour for newborn care, etc.

The seminars at makati med are also free but they have a specific topic lang each time, like one half day session yata for breastfeeding lang, etc.

The childbirth class naman discusses labor and giving birth in detail so it helps to manage your expectations when you go into labor, like anong gagawin pag may contractions na, when your water bag breaks, etc.

Ok din mag-attend ng maraming seminar para makuha yung iba't ibang point of view ng mga speakers.  May kanya-kanya kasi silang mga bias and preferences.  Marami ding freebies hehe

Aside from this, DH and I attended Childbirth class with Rome Kanapi at ADMU around feb-mar. I think it was P4500 per couple. Just look up Romanita Kanapi or Rome Kanapi to visit her website. I just emailed her to ask for the next schedule.

With Chiqui's classes naman, marami nang venues ngayon at multiple sessions sa kanya (though siguro comprehensive naman per session) e close na sa due ko so naghanap ako ng mga one-day lang.

Sis, I've attended a one-day class conducted by Betty San Luis and her husband Manny: http://birthingisablessing.com/ They do not advocate a particular birthing method but shared what worked with them in all of their five (5) pregnancies. 

Nag-attend din ako ng mga free seminars sa TMC and SLMC-QC. Madalas naka-post sa website nila o Facebook account (if they have), so check-check lang once in a while para makuha mo ang dates in advance.

I'm currently enrolled in Rome Kanapi's childbirth preparation class. Last session na namin tomorrow. She class has 6 sessions, usually Sundays. Her topics are well-paced and very helpful especially for 1st time parents like us. She encourages everybody's participation, even the husbands are practicing breathing, massage & relaxation exercises. Super homey and dating because she was like a mother to all of us. Tsaka ang daming freebies and minsan may games pa, sponsored by baby products such as medela, safety 1st & cycles! Hehe!

We paid P5,000 for 6 sessions, including the handouts. In most sessions you would need to bring yoga mat and a pillow for the floor exercises.

I didn't attend any class during my first pregnancy kaya interested sana ako magjoin this time. I gave birth last 2010 sa first child namin and I am due to give birth Q2 of 2015.
